3 Islands crew were great .. happy, friendly, helpful. It can be very physical - snorkeling in the Exmouth Gulf to get in position to see the magnificent whales, but well worth the effort. Great food served throughout the day, too. Highly recommend this mob for a great day in nature.

Had the best day with 3 Islands today! I'm not a great swimmer and was a little nervous heading out today but the crew were amazing and made me feel so safe, (pool noodles were a big help)! Crew were so informative and so friendly couldn't have asked for a better team to have been out with today! Would definitely recommend and will be back.

          Great day with the whales
Outstanding crew made for an exceptional experience. The care for all of the tourists was first rate. They made sure everyone had a chance to experience the humpbacks up close. All of our questions were well answered so we came away knowing a whole lot more about this wonderful place and the animals that share it with us. We are already planning to return and join Three Islands for a swim with Whale sharks.

Incredible day thanks to the team at 3 Islands!
We had the most UNREAL day with 3 Islands today!!! We couldn’t recommend this enough! We got to swim with humpback whales, reef sharks, turtles, and even a mantaray! Plus we saw a seasnake and sooo many more turtles & whales from the boat! But, even if we hadn’t seen any of these amazing creatures, the day still would’ve been incredible thanks to the awesome crew— Amy, Molly, Jerry & Sam. They had the best energy and went out of their way to make sure our day on the water was the best it could be. Such great people who were happy to answer any questions we had and always made sure we were all good during the day. You guys are absolute legends, thanks so much for an amazing day! Again, we couldn’t recommend enough!! - Amy & Ebba :)

          Amazing experience, top crew!
We had an incredible day with them and highly recommend 3 Islands. The crew (Amy, Molly, Jerry and skipper Sam) were very friendly and professional and we couldn't have asked for more. We swam with humpback whales, Manta rays, a turtle and a friendly olive sea snake. The crew made sure we all felt comfortable and got to see as many sea creatures as possible. Morning tea, a decent lunch and afternoon snacks and drinks included, plus you also get all the photos taken on the day by ace photographer Amy. The best bit is that with this tour company they limit the number of people on the boat, so there are only two groups rotating to swim with the whales. On other boats there are three groups, so your time in the water is more limited. Thank you 3 Islands, we will book with you again. Highly recommended!

Although we only saw one humpback wahle during the whole tour - the crew was amazing. They were friendly, helpful, cheerful and made the trip 5o a 5 star tour. The food on board was okey. + they shot pictures during the tour and sent them us for free

          Unforgettable experience
We had an amazing humpbacks whales swimming (and whale watching) experience with 3 Island. The tour was well organised with 2 groups of 6 swimmers in the water at a time. With their dedicated spotter plane, the crew made sure all groups had a good experience in the water and both groups did get to see whale and calf chilling in the water at least 2 or 3 times each. The crew Aimee, Annabelle, Jade and Sam were both friendly and professional making sure everyone was safe in and out of the water. We were certainly lucky with the conditions of the day as we had a lot of current and rough sea the previous days. Boat is well maintained and spacious, food was nice with dietary friendly salads ( a change from cheap BBQ sausage!) We BYO snorkeling equipment so I can't comment on theirs. The complementary photos made by Aimee is a nice bonus. As much as I enjoy taking my own photos, it was easy to miss some of the action when fiddling with my camera. This was a very different experience to swimming with whales sharks and I would recommend doing both if budget and time allow.

          Truly incredible encounters with humpbacks
Words cannot convey the amazing experience we had with 3 Islands. We had 2 incredible encounters with 3 pods of whales. Truly remarkable experience with majestic humpback whales. The staff were fantastic too! Very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and made sure we had a great day. Highly recommend 3 Islands. Will definitely use them when we come back to swim with whale sharks.

Whale of a Time with a Wonderful Crew.
My girlfriend and I couldn't have enjoyed our experience more. The boat and crew were wonderful and the humpbacks really put on a show for us. The friendly but clearly experienced nature of the crew, had us at ease with knowing what to expect and do. The food was fantastic, incl. a few drinks and photos were included. Brilliant experience. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Amazing Day Out - Whale Shark and Humpback Whales
Max, Jade and the crew did a great job of making our day out absolutely unforgettable. Whilst this is billed as "off peak", in September there are still whale sharks around and the team did their best to find us one - and succeeded. There's nothing like seeing them up close, swimming serenely by. Having a spotter plane working up above was no doubt a help. The boat was brilliant - oodles of room for us all and good facilities - when we weren't in the water it was beautiful sitting up front looking out at all the humpback whales as we went by. Lunch and snacks were great - catered for all dietary requirements and there was more than enough. Jade and Hannah the guides made sure everyone had a wetsuit and good equipment - and that the less confident swimmers were well supported in the water. It was a really inclusive and friendly experience. The trip was super safe - the safety briefing was second to none and made sense - without being too long and boring. When we were in the water it was easy to be confident we were being well looked after. Thanks for a great day out.

Absolutely fantastic day on the boat. Great snorkelling, whales chasing with the spotting plane on top and dive with whale shark as a bonus. Crew is super nice and patient. They are doing absolutely everything to make your time exiting.

          Didn’t disappoint!
We booked with 3 Islands again specifically as they were so brilliant last time we came to Exmouth 4 years ago. Another wonderful experience with these guys again this time around with turtles, lots of humpbacks and a minke whale all seen, a couple of amazingly fortunate late season swims with a whale shark and a “nearly” swim with a humpback whale. I went into this very concious of the fact that I hadn’t snorkelled or swam for four years and was still recovering after a recent health scare but I needn’t have worried - huge thanks to Gerry, AJ, Mel and Noz for looking after us with such kindness and patience. This trip has done a hige amount of good both for my self confidence and my soul seeing both the wonder of these amazing creatures in their natural habitat, plus being reminded that there are some truely nice kind people out there as well. Thanks guys!

We were so looking forward to this adventure and was highly waiting in anticipation for it to come around quickly!
I spoke to the company about the boat trip prior to booking and was told that it was 15-20 minutes out to the inside of the reef. Then when their spotter plane sees the whale sharks, we'd head out to the other side of the reef to swim with them. That sounded good for a person who gets chronic sea sickness!
I also mentioned our 2 children aged 7 and 12 and if it was suitable for them and was told 3 year olds have done it!
Well maybe great for a 3 year old with perfect sea condition and definitely not in choppy waters!
We stopped off for our swim around the coral, it was extremely choppy and my 7 year old son (who's a very good swimmer drifted off and thank god for the girls catching him with a bouy!)
We were out for half hour or so and went back to the boat, then set off to the other side of the reef in search for the whale sharks and literally 3 hours later we had finally spotted one!
By then my 2 children were extremely sea sick and I had already taken my kwell tablets but started to feel sick again due to the choppy condition. We weren't the only ones been sick at least 8-9 other on the boat was sick too. We only had 2 jumps (swims) with the whale sharks as we needed to get back to the jetty which was at least another 3 hours back on the choppy waters.
I guess we were unlucky with the weather condition as the next day we saw from a beach, the boats were just on the other side of the reef-with the spotter plane above and obviously they found the whale sharks straight away!
So through no fault of 3 Islands Whale Shark Dive company it was just not the best day for us due to the condition of the sea!
As it was one adventure on our bucket list we can say we've done but it'll be my last time on a boat!
The only other recommendation I would make to the company is, if the sea is choppy please suggest to put life jackets on the children. My 12 year old who's a size of an adult and a very good swimmer probably needed a life jacket too. The ocean is so unpredictable and any protection for the children would be so appreciated! The team was great and very knowledgeable.

What an awesome day!!! The staff on the boat were amazing. They had a plane in the sky just for our boat and were able to locate whales quickly and redirect the boat quickly to the location. We had an amazing day with about 6 different whale sharks to view. We dived 6 times and swam along with the sharks. At all times we felt safe and the photographer was in the water for the whole time taking great shots of our swims.
Overall, a 5 star day with a delicious lunch and lots of champagne at the end to celebrate. We highly recommend 3 Islands Whale Shark Diving company

We thought our first whale shark dive (5 years ago, with a different tour operator) was so amazing that we decided to do it again, this time with 3 islands Whale a Shark and Dive. Never did we imagine our initial experience could be so vastly exceeded. Wow! What an exceptional service, I cannot speak more highly of 3 Islands Whale Shark and Dive. We were entertained from the get go, by EJ and Shan, with a fun and informative bus ride out to the boat ramp. The whole SEAFARI crew were exceptional, attending to everyone appropriately and professionally, while maintaining a friendly disposition. Nothing was too much trouble, regardless of anyone’s age or needs. It was very clear that “our” experience was a priority. Obviously the big sporty fish is what we were all there to see, and we were not disappointed by any means (so spectacular!), however it was the attention, and dedication, to all of the other aspects of the tour operation that added to the overall enjoyment of the day. Safety measures were evident, in place and clearly communicated. Having “Neville” the tender in the water watching over us was very reassuring. Information was delivered in a fun, clear and interactive manner. Delicious food/catering was provided along with a lovely beverage selection. Photographs taken on the dives were complimentary/included in the booking fee and we had fun with Shan taking a few happy memento snaps. The big things matter, obviously, however it’s the small things that count and help put the icing on the cake. The crew were down to earth, professional, genuine people with an obvious love and passion for their work and this translated to us as guests on your boat. Many thanks, big love!

Oh my gosh, thank you oh so much for your lovely, kind hearted & detailed review! Everything you have mentioned is what we strive for everyday and to hear it doesn't go unnoticed is so heart-warming for all the crew! The whale sharks are amazing in their own right, and we couldn't agree more that it's all the little things that truly make for an incredible day. Thank you again for taking the time to share your recent experience with us on TripAdvisor, it is truly appreciated! We even printed it for all the team to read! Hopefully we'll see you on board again one day :)

We were transported in a tender by Jarad to Seafari where we received an introduction to the crew and a briefing about the order of events for the day. We received our snorkel equipment and off we went.
The day was extremely well organized and the crew on board were full of fun and very welcoming. It took a while for the whale sharks to be spotted by the spotter plane above but when it did, we were ready for action and descended into the water in 2 groups of ten as only ten people can be in the water at any one time with the animals. When the whaleshark comes into view it is the most exhilarating and breathtaking moment. They are so graceful and majestic gliding by with an entourage of accompanying fish. Each group went in twice before the animals disappeared, but it was enough as we all had a great view of the shark as we swam alongside it for a few minutes.
Lunch was substantial, serving a selection of cold meats and salads, tea/coffee. There was also mid-morning tea/coffee with biscuits and cake as well as afternoon snacks of crackers and cheese and a celebratory drink of choice.
The crew was wonderful. Chantelle the skipper guided us right to the spot where we were able to jump into the water. Amy was so very gentle and patient with some guests who were not confident in the water and she stayed with them on the noodle one by one ensuring that they too got at least a glimpse of the passing animal. Sam took some fantastic photos which were emailed to us afterwards. Jared ferried us to and from Seafari in the tender and was a great source of information on marine life and the local area and Sarah was a wonderful guide when we were in the water pointing to the exact location of the shark.
All in all a well worthwhile and memorable experience. Definitely put this one on the bucket list.

        Unforgettable and worth every cent!
Do not hesitate to book with Three Islands, if they’re not booked out. We had the best day with this company. We had an all-girl crew, apart from the skipper. They all knew what they were doing and went about it in a safe and calm manner, and, they got us in the water to swim with those incredible whale sharks every time. We got four swims with two different whale sharks, plus a before and after snorkel inside the reef. There was even a little girl swimming with her parents in the open ocean with the whale sharks, and she was only 4 years of age.
The food was amazing too. Chocolate brownies, carrot cake, fruit, bread and plunger coffee for morning tea, beautiful fresh salads, chicken, cold cuts and breads for lunch, then beautiful fruit and cheese platters on the way home with a free Whalebone Brewery beer, a glass of Prosecco or a soft drink on the way home.
Aimee the photographer did an amazing job getting snaps of everyone above and below the water, all while directing Sarah to which way the whale sharks were heading towards us (& it was a massive camera too). Sarah was a wealth of local knowledge on the bus drive out to the boat boarding, and the other girls on board helped us all get kitted out with the right masks, snorkels, fins and wetsuits.
While the price paid for this incredible tour is a large expense for most of us, Three Islands and the crew certainly ensured we got our money’s worth, and some. We would definitely consider doing this tour again, especially if our budget allows on our way back through Exmouth.

Hi Julie Thankyou for your detailed review, it is really appreciated. Its nice hearing people notice the work the crew do and appreciating the way they go about delivering the best product they can. They take a lot of pride in their work and we take pride in them. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of the offerings on board as well. Its a big day so we like to keep everyone well fed and energy levels high. You are right about the price, its a luxury item. We try our best to keep it as low as we can. The quality that you speak of and all the moving parts (boats, buses, tenders, exclusive plane, quality food, excellent staff) needed to bring a product like this together does make it a large expense. We do our best to make sure that the expense is delivered in a way that represents value so I appreciate your acknowledgement of the crews work. Sounds like you are on a bit of a trip so safe travels, hope to see you back one day.

The crew pick you up from your accommodation and you can immediately feel the great atmosphere of the tour company! Chrissy, EJ, Jordan, Chan & Amy were the best crew for the day and went above and beyond to ensure all guests were ok and enjoying themselves. All the equipment we used was great and at the hint of equipment issues in the water the crew were right there to assist and get you moving again. The brownies at morning tea were top quality (Thank you Chrissy) and set the tone for some great food provided through the day, lunch was quite the spread :-)
I can be quite a nervous snorkeler and the crew made me feel at ease every time we jumped into the water, always making sure we were ok or if we needed assistance. The crew explain safety rules and what to do in detail (and with a mini skit yesterday) so you know what to do when on board the boat for the day and when jumping in with the whale sharks. We had our 2 young children with us and they had the best day of their lives, the crew made sure they went home tired :-).
Today we received the photos taken by the photographer EJ on our tour day and they are amazing and truly captured our adventures of the day. We have done many tours around the world and I would highly recommend 3 Islands Tours, we will be back for more.
Thank You again for a great expereince!

One of the most amazing experiences of my life! We looked at a few different tours and originally went with 3 Islands Whale Shark Dive due to the availability rather than any other factors, but wow I am so SO glad we did.

The whole day ran so smoothly, from pickup at our accommodation, safety briefings, gearing up, the snorkel, the swim with the whale sharks, the complimentary photography (shout out to Amy for getting great photos and ensuring she captured everyone, we received so many of us and got them the next day) and just everything.

The crew are so knowledgeable, professional and fun! (Loved the explaining of how to swim with the whale sharks with the toys 😂)

Also the food exceeded our expectations massively, huge morning tea, awesome buffet lunch, afternoon tea and a bevvie to finish the day.

Ended up swimming with I think 4 different whale sharks, got so much time in the water with them (maybe 40-50mins all up) and a beautiful long morning and afternoon snorkel.

Big thanks to Sun 20th June crew on the Seafari, was a day we will never forget - thanks for making it so awesome, will recommend to everyone 👏

The puppet show is definitely entertaining for all on board, no matter if your young or young at heart! We are so pleased to hear you had a great time from start to finish! We'll be sure to pass your kind words onto Amy as well, she'll be thrilled to know she captured some great memories for you to take home and revisit :) Thank you again for joining us last week. It's our absolute privilege to have been able to share this day with you!

We went towards the end of the season not expecting too much. The staff were all first class. Helpful, friendly and kept us all informed. Learnt about local Maine life. We saw Orcas, humpback whales, sea snakes, hammer head sharks and turtles. The snorkeling around the reef was magnificent. Then on the way back our spotter plane saw a whale shark and off we roared. Got two swims with the whale shark and professional photos, included in the price, to prove it. Just a great day! Can't compliment the staff enough. Everyone was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended this mob.

There were six of us on this day trip to swim with the whale sharks in July 2019. We were blown away by the organisational skills of all the crew and how they split us up into two groups so that we had up to about six people in each group. Amazing to see what gentle giants they are. The bonus was the spider aircraft and the tender Boat so we could motor over to where the whale sharks were which allowed us to have up to 4 separate swims with the whale sharks.
This is a life experience we will never forget and highly recommend 3 islands!
