- GoPlaces5883660 contributionsWorld tour of food in an afternoonJust the best! Our guide Eschneider is knowledgeable about food, about his neighborhood, about the cultures we ate our way through, and the layers of history that made NYC what it is today. He was a delightful and engaging conversationalist.Written 8 December 2024
- 669dougk0 contributionsYum and interesting! This tour was an unexpected journey around the Americas and different parts of the world. - Weijian Z0 contributionsGreat tour to eat different cuisine all over mainland China and learn their origin and historySierra was very knowledgeable about the food and local history and their origin sources, they explained things well and answered all questions we had, great guide overall. The food was also fantastic, very flavorful and big in portions, ate enough food for 2 days and was so stuffed and could barely walk at the end. Highly recommendWritten 30 November 2024

- L1476ZJdaphnel0 contributionsAn unforgettable and truly fun culinary tourWe experienced and learned about more cuisines from the global south than I ever expected when my friend and I signed up for the Queens Corona tour during our weekend in NY. Our guide, Schneider, was the icing on the cake, giving us important perspective and insight into the neighborhoods we visited, with lots of humour thrown in. The group size was also perfect!Written 3 November 2024

- P1727QWalexd0 contributionsDelicious and informative tourI took this tour with Esneider and loved it. I really liked the mix of delicious foods from different Asian backgrounds and history about Flushing and greater Queens. Esneider was really friendly, knowledgeable, and was just an overall wonderful guide. Make sure to come hungry, and pace yourself! I highly recommend this tour and will be telling friends to go when they are in town.Written 29 October 2024
- tennis_menace0 contributionsSpectacular tour. and not just great for visitorsWhat a day with Sierra! With their professional culinary training and experience, Sierra was so knowledgeable about both food and history, pacing our group of 6 ladies well and adjusting to our food sensitivities on the fly. Not only did we get to sample (actually, much more than sample) a wide variety of Asian foods, but we also spent time in an Asian grocery store (where I, a Chinese-American, learned quite a lot!) and talked about Flushing's Shaker roots at the Bowen House. This was one of the best food tours we've taking around the world, some with Culinary Backstreets. Highly, highly recommend this tour with Sierra as well as the United Kitchens tour with Esneider!Written 21 October 2024
- H1776NCalicias0 contributionsFood Tour of China Town in QueensThis was a wonderful experience for my husband and me. - 623kaseyc0 contributionsSierra is the guide you need!Sierra was so knowledgeable and fun to have as our guide! The experience would not have been nearly as good without their expertise of the neighborhood and amazing recommendations. They were incredibly accommodating and a joy to get to know! We loved everything we tried, and Sierra made it seem much more possible for us to return and navigate ourselves without being overwhelmed. What a valuable resource Sierra is! Planning to do more tours with culinary backstreets all over the world!Written 18 October 2024
- 724DeborahS0 contributionsInformative and Delicious ExperienceMy husband and I had been on the other Queens full day tour and really enjoyed it so signed up for this one. Our guide Sierra gave great historical context for the area and kept everyone happy with food choices and a relaxed pace. She also was great about sharing other tips and info with our questions. We were blessed with beautiful weather. The food was outstanding and we will definitely go back to that area in the future. It was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to see a different part of NYC.Written 11 October 2024
- sars8670 contributionsA great way to spend the day!Sierra was a great guide! Their food and restaurant choices were excellent, and I really enjoyed the information they provided on the history of Flushing. Unexpected things - the grocery store, the post office, the synagogue - really enhanced the tour. They were very patient with my partner and I - we did wander off a bit in the grocery store. Next time I'm in the city, I'm going to sign up for the Corona tour. Thank you, Sierra!Written 2 October 2024

I can recommend this tour to anyone passionate about food and culture, and about discovering neighborhoods that are normally off the main tourist paths. During the tour, you will be exposed to the amazing diversity that characterizes this area of the city, you will learn about different culinary cultures and habits (mainly latin america) and how the local communities keep them alive and lively. The tour guide is amazingly knowledgeable and will share a number of interesting information and facts, including his own story (all this while you savor the latest delicacy). Keep up with the great job!

We had a fantastic food and culture walking tour with Sierra, who was an excellent guide - informative, fun and passionate about food and culture. We sampled delicious food and drinks from Mexico, Ecuador, Columbia, Pakistan, India and Nepal while exploring Queens. This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip to New York City and would highly recommend doing this tour and seeing more than just Manhattan.

THE TOUR WAS AMAZING !! I am from Mexico, but I can say that I stayed amazed the whole tour. First, for the variety of places and people we visited. Second, for the great taste of each dish ( including refreshing drinks and desserts ) and finally, the history and stories behind the food, made it very special, Sierra was a fantastic tour guide, she gave us incredible recommendations. I love to eat good and tasty food, so I highly recommend this tour If you are really interested in knowing the best local food in New York.

The experience was glorious in every way. We had a perfect day weather-wise, the pace was ideal, and the food was amazing ~ not too much or too “out there.” Our guide Sierra was top notch ~ managing the needs of the group, interacting efficiently and fondly with the food providers, and describing the practices of the micro-communities as well as their culinary uniqueness. My friends visiting from Wisconsin were thrilled with the day and of course that’s always a plus!

We highly recommend this food tour, during which we traversed not just three neighborhoods in Queens but huge parts of the world. We were full of delicious food by the end, but perhaps even more importantly, we were incredibly impressed by the cultural and culinary knowledge of our tour guide Esneider. Recommended with great enthusiasm!

First and foremost, this is a great company. I have taken their tours worldwide and there is no better. Second, this tour was one of the best. Having been born and raised in Queens but not having lived there for years I was interested in exploring the burrough’s food more deeply. It was a great way to connect with an area I loved as well as show my son the diversity and reinvention of the community. Our tour guide was outstanding with an encyclopedia knowledge of the communities and their culture and food history. This is a must tour.

We SO enjoyed this tour. All the food we sampled was absolutely delicious. The portions were generous, so skip breakfast and pace yourself! Our guide Sierra was incredibly knowledgeable about the food itself, the culture from which it came, and the history of the area. It was really nice to see the relationship that Sierra has formed with the small business owners whose shops we stopped at - the mutual respect and appreciation was evident. Sierra checked in often to see how we were doing, if we needed water, the restroom, etc. We learned so much and will absolutely be taking more tours through Culinary Backstreets in the future.

Thank you to Culinary Backstreets and our guide Esneider for the incredible tour! Esneider was friendly and so knowledgable about the history and culture of the different neighborhoods. The food was delicious and we all left feeling stuffed. Most of our group were NYC locals, so it was amazing to feel like a tourist in our own city. I'll definitely be going on more tours with Culinary Backstreets!

One of the best experiences I’ve had in NYC. More than the amazing food you will try during this walk, you will also understand how the hundreds of other cultures come together and live in the city. Queens is an amazing borough, and I’m very thankful to Esneider for helping us navigate it as well as sharing so many stories with us. He knows so much about so many things, I could not have asked for a better guide.

There's a lot of food on this tour. Not a sit-down lunch at one place, but enough food and snacks over the course of several hours that the total amount was more than most people would eat for lunch.
