So much to see
Sep. 2019
Visited the Adirondack Museum to learn more about the local history and environment. Lots of different exhibits from natural history to re-constructed historic buildings. Beautifully landscaped around a pond with wonderful views of the lake. Very inspired by Anne Labastille's reconstructed cabin. Sorry not to be able to visit the Minnow Pond Trail because hunting season had started. Didn't enjoy the taxidermy exhibition, just not my thing. Good restaurant with a wide selection.

Better than expected
Sep. 2019
Normally, museums in relatively remote locations are fun and amuse us for a couple hours. This was much more than we expected. Several buildings with interactive experiences were good. Art and taxidermy were good. Most interesting taxidermy I have ever seen. Was not expecting that. School house, fire tower, camping lodge, train, boats and so much more. Went in expecting two hours of entertainment and probably could have spent 4 or more there.

Super Informative
Sep. 2019
We had been hiking in the Adirondacks and we stopped on impulse and were rewarded by an outstanding museum devoted to past and present life in the Adirondacks. Tons of exhibits. Craft people. Fun taxidermy exhibit. People thoughts were different in 1900.

You should at least visit once!
Sep. 2019
This place was recommended to us years ago but we finally had a chance to visit. We come every year to the Adirondack Balloonfest & this year stayed one extra day just so we could visit this museum. The view from the café is almost worth the price of admission. It was interesting to really learn more about the history of this region. It's not a large area so no problem for 2 old folks like us to walk around & do everything in a day. The path to the lake was closed though due to hunting which was unfortunate for us.

Overhyped attraction
Sep. 2019
Coming to visit the Adirondacks we were advised that the Adirondack Experience was a must see. It's not. It's big and fancy but more multi-media than authenticity. The only thing worthwhile here is the Boats & Boating area. Save the $20 and go paddle a canoe.

A Must See! This Museum Has Everything!
Sep. 2019
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Adirondack Experience. We specifically came to see the special exhibit on Walter Potter's Taxidermy and were not disappointed. It's amazing. We then explored all the other buildings and were fascinated by the exhibits. The area that depicted how the great camps were run was very well done, including the train car that may have carried the rich and famous to their rustic camps. The display of boats was very impressive, especially the explanation of the guide boats and how they are built. I was thrilled to see a George Pocock racing shell on display. After reading "Boys in the Boat" by Daniel James Brown, it was great to see one of his boats in person. My husband's favorite display was a huge map that allowed you to see the whole Adirondacks Park. Very impressive. Great gift shop and enthusiastic staff.

Great museum for all ages
Sep. 2019 • Family
We had a wonderful time at the Adirondack Experience, even in the rain. The exhibits were so interesting and lots of history was explained. There really is more than one can see in a day. Thank you! We will be back.

I have been recommending this museum as the best attraction in the Adirondacks for years. However this was my first trip in three years, only to find half of the favorites of years of attending were gone. Especially the Hermits cabin., surprised to find the rail car still there but probably to big to move out. Really don't know what happened, but if you were there 4 years ago you willl be very disappointed at the changes. Cafeteria was excellent.

We are sorry that you were disappointed with your visit to the museum. A couple of years ago the hermits cabin was moved inside to it's own exhibit within our Woods & Water exhibition to protect it from the elements. We hope you'll come back to see it again in the future.

Fantastic. A must do when in the Adirondacks!
Wow! We were so happy we came here! Fantastic grounds and museum exhibits! So much history and so interactive! We loved the “life in the Adirondacks” exhibit in the large building out back. When you finish that exhibit and walk out the exit, you overlook blue mountain lake! Fantastic views! Also, we walked down to minnow pond during our visit and you can rent boats for a small fee and take them out onto the lake! There is also a cafe to eat there. Definitely plan for a few hours here to really enjoy the whole experience!

Great Trip All Around
Jul. 2019
I live in the middle of the woods all summer by working at a scout camp. This year I finally decided to visit this museum and I have to say I am not disappointed. Being able to learn more about the Adirondacks was exactly how I would want to spend the weekend. I spent 4 hours there and didnt even get to see all of it. The staff there are very engaging and helpful. 10/10 would go again.
