We are both 35 years old from Indiana. Both of these experiences were highlights of our trip through New Hampshire. I'm glad we had time to do both, because they are very different but both are amazing and unique in their own ways. I'll admit, I booked these tours mostly because my boyfriend was interested, but I ended up having a lot of fun as well. The WW2 experience began with Pete showing us his collection of guns and artifacts from WW2. We were able to hold almost all of the guns as he explained the history behind them. Pete is an amazing storyteller and has so much enthusiasm for the subject that the time flew by. This also gave us the opportunity to get familiar with the guns so that we could pick out the different types that we wanted to fire. We were able to choose one type of rifle, pistol, and sub machine gun each and we all were able to fire the same machine gun. My boyfriend had one specific rifle that he wanted to shoot, but we asked Pete for his recommendations on the other guns. Each gun was different and we had a great time getting to shoot each one. Pete provides ear and eye protection. There was another couple and us, and the whole experience lasted between 4-5 hours, but the time flew by. My boyfriend and I were the only ones that had scheduled the Colonial Flintlock Musket experience. I’m only a little over 5 feet tall, so Pete was able to give me a shorter musket that I could handle more easily. He had everything prepared ahead of time so that we could focus on learning how to shoot the muskets. It was a very unique experience getting to go through all of the steps of firing a musket because it’s so different from modern guns. It gave us tremendous insight into what it must’ve been like for so many soldiers hundreds of years ago. After our stop in New Hampshire, my boyfriend and I toured Boston, Lexington, and Concord and we felt that our experience with Pete made the revolutionary history we learned about feel much more alive. I think the Colonial Musket experience lasted between 2-3 hours but again, the time flew by. I’m very happy that we were able to do this experience with Pete. And Pete himself is absolutely amazing. He’s knowledgeable, professional, patient, and a great teacher. I don’t have a lot of experience with guns but Pete was very patient and encouraging the entire time and I never felt rushed or awkward about my lack of experience. Both of these experiences were highlights of our trip and we definitely recommend them.Written 12 November 2024

- Patti I0 contributionsFlintlock FunOur family of four adults had a great time. The instructor is an expert on flintlocks and their history. He went through all the steps several times until we were all comfortable with the process, then the real fun of shooting began. We learned so much about history and the misconceptions about flintlocks. They were surprisingly accurate compared to what we were taught in school. This was our favorite activity during our New England vacation. Highly recommended!Written 8 September 2024
- Piradical0 contributionsFun Filled Flintlock FiringMy girlfriend Mary and I had an absolute blast at Pete's Colonial Flintlock Musket Experience with Historical Shooting Inc.! Pete's deep knowledge of colonial history made us feel like we were stepping back in time. He shared fascinating stories about the era. History that is not common knowledge and expanded to firearms and the different techniques used in their development over time. The history regarding Roger's Rangers, the Boston Massacre and how the revolution took place making the experience even richer. Learning to fire black powder muskets was thrilling! Pete’s expert guidance and patience made it easy and safe for everyone. We learned thexsteps and commands and even learned to load and fire them quickly by the end of the day. His friendly, engaging demeanor ensured we felt comfortable and had fun throughout the session. We loved every moment and can’t wait to come back with friends to put more holes in King George. If you’re looking for an unforgettable, hands-on history lesson, this is it. Highly recommended!Written 28 June 2024
- Scenic321048064930 contributionsAmazing, Empowering Experience!!This was an amazing experience, from start to finish! Pete made every step clear, and kept each moment rooted in history. His deep knowledge of lore enriched our time, and his attention to detail made me feel safe throughout. Firing an 18th century Brown Bess at a portrait of King George, all while listening to stories of the Revolutionary War was something I didn’t even know was on my bucket list, but now I think it should be on everyone’s! Definitely worth the trip!Written 28 June 2024

HIGHLY recommend going on this experience if you are a history lover. Pete has built an amazing repository of not just historical artifacts but also the stories tied to each of them. He is highly knowledgeable and very flexible on what topics we delved into based on our interests. And getting to fire several of those historical weapons was the cherry on top! We cannot recommend this experience enough.

This was an incredible experience - I went with a buddy, and even though it was a 2.5hr drive it was well worth it. Pete has an incredible command of the history of WW2 (not just the weaponry) and take the time to walk through the history and context of all of the pieces on display.
We got off into the woods and got to shoot a bunch of different stuff, including pistols, rifles, sub machine guns and a .30 cal browning machine gun.
Amazing experience - Pete is the man!

This was a very unique, informative and interesting experience, and it was cool to be able to hold and eventually shoot some of the fantastic guns in the collection. Pete was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the guns he spoke through. Unfortunately for our experience, the duration was not the advertised 2 hours. From the time we arrived to the time we left, it was over 5 hours - and that was omitting the opportunity to shoot the last gun (which was unfortunate because it was the one we were the most excited about).
This was a birthday gift to my fiancé who really enjoys the history of WW2, but it was meant to be a portion of our day and ultimately took a huge chunk of it. We began at 11am, with the understanding we would be out at 1pm. We planned to get a late lunch afterwards, so we were both quite grumpy and hungry by the time we left around 4pm. Additionally, the first 3 1/2 hours were spent in the “vault” where Pete’s guns are kept and displayed. It was a small room, with limited space for him, us and the two other participants there to sit - so my fiancé ended up standing on the cement floor for Pete’s 3 1/2 hour discussion of the weapons and their history. In fairness, we were offered a seat once at the beginning but with the extremely limited space and expectation that the discussion would only last an hour to 90 minutes decided to stand. Thankfully, one gentleman from the other group offered for me to sit after the 2 1/2 hour mark.
Upon arrival and until about 2pm it was a cloudy day. By the time we were finally able to get out on the range, it had started raining pretty hard. Also, Pete instructed each of us to load our weapons, rather than simply asking if we wanted to do it ourselves or just have him set it up for us. Finally, when loading the M1 Gerand, it was my fiancé who cautioned me to watch my thumb rather than Pete, but a moment too late as it caught my thumb (there a phrase ‘Gerand thumb’ for this reason) and caused me to start bleeding. Pete offered me a bandaid, but no antiseptics to clean the cut.
For us, the sum of all the parts made it an overall negative experience. I think for the right person with the right expectations, this is a really great opportunity to learn about and interact with historically significant weapons - but I caution you to come with a full stomach and an open day. I also offer the suggestion to Pete to either adjust his advertisement or to shorten his presentation prior to the shooting. Im sure there are those who have the time and interest, and would happily come back after shooting to hear more specific and personal stories of the guns.

The guy that owns the business was also our tour Director. He was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of World War II munitions and ammunition. He had an encyclopedia knowledge. He was very patient with our level of expertise in shooting. We would highly recommend this experience for anyone who is even remotely interested in World War II or firearms in general.

I'm not sure I can name a favorite part. The whole experience was amazing. Of course firing authentic WWII weapons is the highlight but the discussion leading up to the actually firing was excellent. That time flew by. Pete, the owner, was more than willing to discuss anything we wanted to talk about. His knowledge of the subjects is extensive and his enthusiasm is unmatched. He uses objects from his personal collection to illustrate certain points and he has many amazing pieces. The discussion time flew and Pete did not rush us through the discussion. He was more than willing to go down any WWII rabbit hole.
During the firing Pete gave individual instructions and was just as excited as the participants. This whole experience is very high on the list of things I have done. I want to try some of the other experiences Pete is offering. This is something an experienced shooter and a newbie will enjoy and appreciate. It's a "must do". This was a seven out of five stars. I'm still grinning.

This is by far one of the best experiences I have ever had. Pete was very knowledgeable on the history of his firearms and WWII in general. As for the shooting portion he made sure that safety was the priority and that my fiancé and I understood the weapons that we were handling. I enjoyed every minute of my time and felt it was very well spent. I would 10/10 do it again and recommend the experience to anyone that is interested.

Peter will take you back in time from WW1 to WW2. He’s incredibly knowledgeable of weapons history and development. He has an amazing collection and loads of them are available to fire. I shot a M1 Garand, Mauser Pistol, a Finish Machine Gun and last but not lest a .308 Belt fed machine gun! I would recommend this to anyone interested in historical firearms and history!

My two boys (16 and 18) had a fantastic time. Pete is fantastic. He is knowledgeable and friendly. He spent some time going over all the different types of weapons and some interesting stories about some of the weapons he has in his large collection. The boys then got to choose the weapons they wanted to fire. He made sure that everyone was safe and was professional. It was a great experience for the whole family. The shop is off the beaten path and is not glamorous when you pull into the driveway. Pete made our day an adventure we will always remember.

Pete was incredibly generous with his time. He talked us through the history of the various firearms as an entry point to understanding the lives of people living through the war, with a surprising collection of photographs and primary documents. Getting to actually handle the firearms was pretty mind-blowing. We enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot.
