      Great Day Out
I've always had a love for pearls, now I have a whole new respect for them. This was a great trip. The rain shortened the boat trip but did not reduce the quality of our experience.

Really enjoyable morning at Pearls of Australia.
Easy to follow directions and suggested items to wear/bring. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and the most beautiful range of pearls I have I have ever seen. Thoroughly recommend it!

Who knew there were pearls in Sydney?
Located a couple of km from Hawkesbury River Station, this is a fascinating glimpse into the world of pearl cultivation. We found out how pearls are created, cultivated and graded before being turned into exquisite jewellery. The short boat trip out onto the Hawkesbury River to see the beds, and watch as the oyster farmer opened shells to discover a beautiful pearl, was extremely informative. Afterwards lunch at the pleasant local club around the corner was very tasty. They can pick up small groups from the station or it's an easy drive, turning off the M 1 to the Mooney Mooney exit. A very worthwhile excursion just north of Sydney. Thoroughly recommended for both locals and tourists.

Jodi’s presentations before and after the boat trip were professional, informative and very interesting. She is a dynamic young lady with infectious enthusiasm. These talks set the scene for a relaxing and eye-opening boat trip, with Steve demonstrating the practicalities and challenges of the pearl industry. A wonderful morning, recommended for all ages.

For all the pearl lovers, this is the tour for you. Beautifully conducted with passionate & knowledgeable guides. You learn how to fully appreciate pearls & understand the care that goes behind creating these natural beauties that are at the whim of nature. I am in the jewellery business & now have a more thorough understanding of the industry. It has made me value these organic gems even more ! The setting & the scenery is a travel log unto itself. The calm & tranquil waters ease the mind & sooth the soul. Celeste & Jamie who hosted my special journey at Woy Woy were such passionate masters themselves. My quest for learning was appreciated by them & every question answered. Back at Mooney Mooney the luncheon was well received followed by a very informative pearl grading session. The Broken Bay akoya pearls are so beautiful & needless to say as are the Cygnet Bay South Sea pearls held within the same company. I can definitely suggest you should take something home with you to treasure. The day was, without doubt, an amazing journey into the world of pearls!

Wow what an amazing place to visit!
We stumbled on this place, because the tour was included in our package at Marramarra Lodge, a wonderful all inclusive couples only retreat.

The tour with our very knowledgeable Tameeka was so informative. We learned all about the history of the pearl farming industry in Australia, starting off in Broome, and later in Broken Bay. We are so fortunate to have this place open to the public in the last 5 years.
We got to appreciate how much work is involved in growing pearls.

We had a boat tour with Chris, who showed us the ‘life cycle’ of a cultured pearl, and explained the importance of the environment in its development. Fabulous boat ride indeed.

We then returned to the pearl grading room and looked at the different pearl qualities. We were able to understand the difference between freshwater and cultured pearls and the various size, shapes, surface, colors and lusters, when grading each pearl.

We of course could not leave without purchasing a set… my favorite part! No pressure at all to purchase, but I could not resist! Such a beautiful array of jewelry or loose pearls that you can create your own unique piece.

I can say for sure, when I wear my new set of pearl jewelry, I will treasure it so much more now, having been on this tour. I recognize how much time and care has gone into cultivating this semi precious gemstone.

I would not buy a pearl from anywhere else. This is the real deal. Definitely recommend this tour. If not, pop in and purchase their oysters. You know you’re getting the good stuff.

Wow Lakmalie. What a fantastic review. Thank you so much. You are a great advocate for the pearl farm and you touched on every possible aspect of the tour and what amazing things we have to offer when you visit the farm. Something for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to seeing you again soon wearing your lovely pearl purchases. Pearls you will treasure forever knowing the amazing story behind them and how much care it takes to produce such lustrous, sustainable gems. Kind Regards from Tamika and the Broken Bay Pearl Farm team.

We did the morning tour and it was fantastic. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. They were very happy to take questions and took the time to answer each one. The boat ride was equally enjoyable, taking us to where the pearls are grown and as an added bonus, the skipper took us to see aboriginal rock art and also told us the history of Brooklyn Bridge.

Overall an enjoyable, relaxing and informative experience. Highly recommended.

Had a great time with my wife at Broken Bay.

You’ll learn everything about pearls, oysters and their history in Australia.

The staff were friendly and insightful and the trip on the boat to see aboriginal art and one of their farms in the water was brilliant.

I’ll be recommending this to any visitors we have from overseas and locally

We left Sydney for Mooney on an overcast morning not feeling terribly optimistic about the weather....
The courteous friendly staff, their nicely lit showroom & presentation rooms at their Broken Bay Pearl Farm Facility lifted our spirits!
And yes, they were oh so knowledgeable about pearls.
The tour on the catamaran powerboat was nice, smooth and comfortable despite the chilly wind. Whilst we were zooming across the estuary Ian explained the pearl farming process very well to us but if there was a mike it would have been better for us since we were seated towards the stern of the boat.
The presentation post our boat tour was also informative and very nicely presented.
We loved it due to the fact that it was not commercialised and had a family business feel to it.
They are honest people and the prices of pearls reasonable.
My friends loved the morning spent with them!
It would also be a great outing with kids as there is a big lusciously green lawn right outside the Mooney Mooney Club ideal for a picnic if one chooses not to dine in the restaurants.

A real pear farm feel in a cosy, home-y atmosphere. The boat trip was very enjoyable, showing us the Hawkesbury river area and the oyster lines. Cracking the oysters whilst looking for the pearl was very thrilling. Very exhaustive & engaging talk explaining the secrets of the pearl industry. Beautiful jewellery on display for sale - so bring your purse (I guarantee you will want to buy something). Very friendly staff. Loved it so much that I want to go back for a private tour, as well.

My mum and I enjoyed Broken Bay Pearl Farm Tour yesterday and cannot fault the experience we had (or stop talking about it!). The staff’s knowledge of pearls and the process of their farming is second to none and their friendly and personal approach made for a wonderful day! Their display and selection of pearls is breathtaking and one of best kept secrets on the coast. We highly recommend this experience to anyone and any group, and will definitely come back!

The greeting and environment were a delight as was the introduction in the theatre. The same to be said for the time spent in the grading room . If I was rating on this only it would be 5/5, however, the actual Broken Bay boat tour was not at the same standard.
Understandably, due to the weather conditions earlier in the year, we were informed ( when on the boat ), that the oysters had died. This meaning that nets would not be raised and an oyster opened to reveal some stage of the pearl growth.
As one is led to believe from the website.
This change needs to be mentioned at booking or on the website or at arrival .
As I have a personal love for Broken Bay I do overlook this but I was extremely disappointed .
I look forward to a return in years to come when the industry has returned to full capacity.

Hello Francene, Thank you for visiting our pearl farm. We are so happy that you enjoyed the theaterette and pearl grading experience. Apologies to hear that you did not enjoy visiting our pearl farm on the fabulous Hawkesbury River. It is with great sadness that we are no longer able to harvest any pearl shell for our guests, due to the recent flood events this year. It was the most devastating weather event our pearl farm has experienced since we began farming 20 years ago. We lost the majority of our shell, including all our pearls that have been quietly growing there for the last 5 years. As you know after your tour, it can take 5-6 years to grow one pearl. After this saddening event, while our farm staff spent many weeks looking through our lines to clean up dead shell and look for any survivors, we updated our website to remove any mention of live pearl shell. Again, apologies that you were expecting this. If you could please let us know where you did read this on our website, post floods, that would be very helpful. Our team is working hard to regenerate our farm, and recently we were very happy to find a very small batch of baby shell that miraculously survived the event. We are staying positive that we can get our pearl farm producing many of the finest pearls, and akoya oysters again soon. Kindest regards, Jodi

Had a lovely morning learning something new. Tamike and Meg are great hosts and took their time to explain the Australian pearl history and the science behind the creation of the pearls.

Our 3yr old daughter thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride, and even watching the demonstration out on the waters. She struggled a little with the pearl grading afterwards (short attention span) although we found it very interesting.

Great activity for couples and families with slightly older kids. Take a picnic like we did to enjoy on the waters edge after the tour.
