Terrific Trip - Book it!
Sep. 2021
I booked this tour on the basis of the many reviews I saw across several travel platforms, and I am so pleased that I did. The tour was simply phenomenal. Michel and Danu were the very best of hosts - entertaining, interesting and happy to adjust our tour to fit our interests. I was a little worried that we would get tired and possibly bored with an all day tour, but Michel and Danu kept us moving from location to location, all the while sharing anecdotes and answering our questions. We travel quite a bit, and do food tours just about everywhere we go, and this is easily the best tour I've been on. I only wish I could take Michel and Danu with us as we travel. Finally - Danu provided a phenomenal and detailed/personalized listing of recommendations for places to visit in the upcoming days/weeks. A phenomenal experience all around.

Book this amazing tour
If you are in the Sarlat area, you simply must book this tour. Our hosts were delightful, knowledgeable, and passionate about the Perigord area, wines, food, etc., and were so accommodating to every wish. We fit in more sights and experiences than I thought possible for a day tour, and I am thrilled that we fit so much into the day. We would never have found some of these unique experiences on our own, and it is very nice to sit back and enjoy the ride with locals who can point out the sites and organize so many special visits. The group was small (only two couples and our two hosts) which allowed for easy transportation and great conversation. The lunch was delicious, and honestly, it would take too long to list all the wonderful stops we made, so read the itinerary and sign up for this tour. You will have a fabulous time!

It was an absolutely special introduction to the local life of the region, Michel's & 'Danu's love to Perigord was so contagious, we can't wait to come back!
We were treated to a very delicious meal of the region's specialties, and felt so comfortable as if with old friends!
Thank you so much for your amazing tour!

This day was the gastronomic highlight of my trip!
Sep. 2019
Danu and Michel were excellent guides and so much fun! We toured around in their bright red Deux Chevaux (2 horses)which was an experience in itself! We began with a tour of their small, hometown bakery--all organic and locally sourced, and then went on to visit a goose and duck farm. There we did tastings of three types of duck liver pates with wine selected by the farm to accompany the pates. (There was no gavage at this farm!) On to a truffle farm where we carefully stepped around the "burns" on the oak trees and learned that there is more than one type of truffle. Lunch was at a fabulous mansion (turned hotel), with a very gourmet, Perigordian meal! Then on to a walnut farm where we were able to watch the walnuts as they were crushed by hand and machine. The ones crushed by hand were then hand roasted--what a fabulous smell! And of course, a tasting! Finally, we ended up in a cookie-making ("biscuit" in French) organic, locally sourced ingredients factory, with another tasting! Bring your money! There will be lots to buy! The day was very busy, but did not feel rushed, and the conversation with Michel and Danu was delightful and very informative about the region. I was the only one to sign up that day, so I received a solo tour! They both really outdid themselves as guides and they speak English fluently. All in all, it was truly a fabulous day of both learning about and partaking of the food from the Perigord.

What great fun we had!!! One of the best tours of our entire lives!!
Sep. 2019 • Couples
9+ hours of great fun and conversations as the charming couple (Danu and Michel) took us all through the back roads of the Perigord region. We got to met the locals and converse (some spoke English, some needed Michel to translate) learning of the passion they have for their products from biscuit maker to truffle farmer to a walnut farmer etc etc.

We got to taste some great local products but the best part was driving through such bucolic landscapes in their little classic two cylinder car. They were so sweet and personable we wished we could have spent a couple of weeks with them.

They go out of their way to please you. They got the only restaurant in a small village to open just for us for lunch. Great meal. And, since we don’t drink alcohol, they had no problem customizing the tour for us by eliminating the wine and the whiskey stops and filling in with other things.

Truth be told we would have been quite happy just riding through the back roads in the forest with them the whole time and never stopping. The places we visited were icing on a great cake.

Don’t miss this and tell all of your friends about it!
