He navigated the waterways with remarkable skill, showcasing the picturesque scenery and ensuring we encountered various wildlife, including baby alligators nestled in their habitats, as well as larger reptiles like turtles and alligators - the largest one we encountered was around 6 feet long. - sabrinak1360 contributionsThe Beauty of a Swamp Tour…..Few people ever imagine the swamp as a beautiful place but if you take a swamp tour you will discover that there is beauty and mystery found in the Louisiana Swamp.  Taking a swamp tour provides an opportunity to see the beauty that exists in a place you would not imagine. Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours has always been my go to tour company for visiting family.  All my family members have loved the tour every single time.  A journey with Jean Lafitte Swamp always provides an amazing guide (Captain Jamie)that transforms into a swamp encyclopedia for the 90 minute journey.  In addition, the guides always have funny jokes. You will be amazed by the things you will see while on the journey.  the Spanish Moss, Cypress Trees, Herons, turtles, and don’t forget the stars of the show the American Alligator which makes the tour even more exciting.  At the end of the tour you will journey back the same way you came on a boat but this time to the sounds of Zydeco. If you have visitors in town for the summer it is a wonderful way to introduce them to the beauty of Louisiana Wildlife.Written 30 June 2023
- 826jacquelynp0 contributionsJean LaFitte Swamp TourWe decided to spend Thanksgiving 2022 in New Orleans and booked an Airboat tour. Our Captain was Miles, and he was really great. Very entertaining and certainly knew the swamp, we saw 5 gators in late November. In our family group we had ages between 10 and 80 and everyone enjoyed every minute of it. Book this tour, you will be very pleased.Written 22 December 2022
- delynnb20150 contributionsGreat Airboat TourWent on a small airboat tour (there were 9 people) with Captain Randy. We saw alligators, egrets, and other wildlife. Capt Randy was full of great information about the bayou, wildlife, conservation, and other interesting information. We truly are happy we chose this fun thing to do while here in New Orleans. Would highly recommend it.Written 11 November 2022

We saw plenty of alligators, two who swam close by so we could see closely its body and tail swinging around. It was awesome! Our guide knew how to make bird calls and it was a hoot with the owls. We saw a deer, many beautiful birds, and we got many wonderful shots of the wildlife and scenery. Afterwards, we took the advice of our guide and dined at Jan’s near the free pirate museum. It was great food by the river! The tour and Jan’s foods is a must see and do.

We had the best time on our Swamp tour. Captain Brent was so knowledgeable. He knew exactly where the gators hang out and made sure everyone on the boat was able to see them. Saw lots of alligators.

Let me tell you first what disappointed me-
The other patrons on this boat with my group did not tip our tour guide, and he was absolutely fantastic. Jason has been on this tour 4 times a day for 23 years. He was absolutely amazing ! Please tip your service workers!
Now to what I loved!
This was easy to find, parking accessible, but I wouldn’t recommend any low riding vehicles. The bathrooms were nothing special, but clean and well stocked. There wasn’t really a gift shop, but honestly that’s not what I was there for. There is this sweet fat potbelly pig on the grounds named Sunshine. Our tour guide Jason gave her a banana and she was downtown with happiness! Cute plus! The boat was comfortable. There was plenty of seating and there were life vests. Also a bathroom on board, and some small snacks for purchase as well as ice cold drinks (Venmo, credit card square and cash accepted). Now to my favorite part, JASON! He has been on this tour 4 times a day for 23 years. He told us some wild stories and some amazing facts. He backed the boat up so many times to make sure everyone saw what was behind the log or hidden in the greenery. The thing that really got me was that he knew the gators and they knew them. Have you ever seen someone whistle and the gators swim to the boat? It’s a site to be seen. This was worth every Penny. Jason made this trip.

The tour was fun, but after it was over the shuttle back was cash only, and not included in the price. There was no ATM or way to pay via a card. It's 2023 get it together.
It Felt like a tourist trap, because as soon as the tour was over all the Uber and lyft prices tripled and we couldn't find one under $90.

We loved this tour, it was so affordable and fun! We saw so many birds, gators and turtles. The captain was very informative on the animals and landscape, and the tour was the perfect length of time. Check out Groupon for deals on this tour and if you’re coming from downtown New Orleans, we would recommend organizing transportation with the company.

Captain Larry gave an awesome tour of the swamps and bayous!! He was funny, knowledgeable, and entertaining. He did a great job pointing out alligators, turtles, and birds on our tour. He even has named for a few of the alligators! This was a great way to see the wildlife that is native to Louisiana!!

My husband and I booked the Swamp and Bayou Tour. This company is organized, and their staff members are friendly, down to earth with a great sense of humor. The swamp tour guide we had was knowledgeable about the swamp and gator life. Oh, I cannot forget about Alton, our bus driver, who was very informative about the Bayou and its history.

Even though we saw no gators, this was a very enjoyable trip. We saw birds - a barred owl, cormorants, bald eagle - up close, and local flora, Our captain and guide, Larry, was funny, knowledgeable, and told great stories (some of them bloodcurdling) and shared wonderful experiences of being a 4th or 5th generation New Orleanian. The boat felt very safe and we liked being able to walk about. Sadly we didn't see gators but were there on a weekend that was the coldest in 40 years- and the gators knew better!
Would definitely recommend it. I plan to visit again and hopefully see some gators other than the baby one we got to hold.

We had a large group of 13 and everyone had a great time. Our group ranged in age from 4 to 90. The wasn’t too long or short. Our guide was awesome and shared so much knowledge on the wildlife that we saw plus history of the area. This is only 25 minutes from the French Quarter so I’d definitely recommend if you want a break from the party scene.

We took the airboat tour and so happy we did. Much smaller group and our guide, Captain Curt, was a lot of fun and so knowledgeable of all things in the swamp and wildlife. We saw so many alligators and even had our guide interact with them! Take this tour! You won’t be disappointed!! (Just watch your hats…you may lose them!)
