About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Laura Victoria D0 contributionsGood but take on mind that Tours and some rides are not a sure planAlmost everything was great! The only disappointment was the cancellation of our Mobsters and Haunted Mysteries Of Chicago Walking Tour. The Tour company decided to cancel it because there were not enough guests for the tour. That Tour was one of the reasons I decided for the Go City pass that is more expensive than other city passes. Also we couldn’t ride the Centennial Wheel…I still doesn’t know why because on the website was available but there were no one to attend us over there, the ride was closed but no signs of schedule availability’sWritten 27 December 2024
- yorb1230 contributionsNot worth it in winter time.Bought the “all inclusive “ pass and half of the attractions were closed or sold out… but open for the explorer pass .. mmm I’m pretty sure they can add the boat trip to the all inclusive pass from the ones running in the explorer pass . At least one .. seems odd that if you pay the cheapest pass you can pick a boat trip but if you pay the all inclusive pass there’s no boats running on the season lol … so how it’s off season for one but still open and running for the other one ? It’s all a scam … just go with the cheapest one and do the same 5 attractionsWritten 3 December 2024

The Bean at Millennium park. 360 Chicago wow what a view. Shedd Aquarium I love the Beluga. Into the stars at the Adler planatariun. What a rush on the Seadog Architecture boat tour. When I started to visit places children museum in chicago said I have to pay for my infant and I paid 26$ for him . Some attractions said it's height requirement for my children. They said your children can not go inside because of height. Some places allow only some attractions inside. You have to pay extra if you have to do some activities. My children not fun at all. - Y6189HQlisag0 contributionsJust don’t!!Had to cancel trip last minute due to family emergency. Cancelled through their website like the rep on the phone told us to. Received an email 2 days later saying they would only be refunding 1/2 of what we paid because we used 2 days worth. Umm no! We had reservations but cancelled them due to not being able to make the trip. We did everything we were told to on their website to cancel and request a refund only to be told by the e rep on the phone that we did not do it correctly. I am sure it is a language barrier issue. Will not be using this again!!! EVER!!! Don’t do it!!Written 11 October 2024
- BNAFly0 contributionsGoCity Chicago was not worth the hypeWe purchased GoCity tickets for a family trip to Chicago. Unfortunately, while the trip was amazing, the GoCity purchase did not live up to the savings that we expected. Many of the things that we wanted to do thru the GoCity options were not available - even though both GoCity’s app and the individual websites for these items showed that they were open. Overall, there is a lot to do in Chicago & I do not think that GoCity is the partner that you should utilize.Written 7 October 2024
- Roam5672800 contributionsGreat value, not a great busThe value in the card was excellent. My only complaint is that the bus tours were disappointing this time. The pre-recorded stuff is boring. I have done the hop on hop off several times and I always enjoyed the drivers perspective and personal approach to the tour. The people working on the sidewalks weren't always very friendly and mostly seemed annoyed when we had questions.Written 5 October 2024

I purchased the Chicago Go City Pass for 7 days at 189 USD plus tax.
It certainly gives direct access to some attractions, but there are several observations:
You are not accepted to enter the Art Institute of Chicago, which is the city’s most important art museum.
For the SKY Deck observatory you must book at least one day in advance. I don't know you can book for the same day. This is a problem because Chicago’s weather is constantly changing, and it can be booked for a day when nothing is seen.
For Skyvision Chicago (highly recommended) it is the opposite: you can not get tickets in advance, it can only be the same day and at least in our case we went in the morning at 11 and there was no room, so we had to return in the afternoon.
We were 4 adults and we all agreed that the Adler Planetarium is not worth it, it really is a small place, for children and with a not very good museography.
What is really worth it is:
Architectural Walk along the River (2 hours)
Field Museum of Natural History (full day)
Fly over Chicago (30 minutes)
Museum of Science and Industry (all day)
In our case, the actual pass savings were $56 per person equivalent to 22% of the price of tickets purchased on the websites.

Chicago is amazing! The pass worked perfectly. The only downside is that it does not include the Institute of Art, which is a must in Chicago. Besides the museums and towers I loved the Flyover, a different way to feel the city. It was a bit stressing to take 8 attractions in 4 days (including the Institute of Art which we had to pay for), but it was worth the experience

We chose the 4-attraction Explorer Pass for our weekend in Chicago. We spent our first night at Willis Tower and the Skydeck. Sunset views for our first look of the beautiful Second City! Then enjoyed a great dinner at Eataly. The next morning, we took the Hop on/ Hop off bus around the entire city loop. Then we hopped off at Magnificent Mile and walked the beautiful River Walk to the Architectural Boat Tour. Don't miss this tour!! We then walked through Millennial Park and Navy Pier. We had happy hour at the gorgeous rooftop lounge of London House and then made our way over to the Water Tower for some shopping and finally to 360 Chicago for more sunset views of Lake Michigan and drinks from the CloudBar on the 94th floor. We ended our evening with some amazing Chicago Deep Dish at Lou Malnati's. It was a whirlwind trip but the Go City Explorer pass made every experience much less expensive! The Explorer pass had all the options we wanted.

BAD experience. Purchased passes for myself & son. Mine worked fine, son's did not. Per Co City, my son should have been able to activate via QR code at first vendor visited. HOURS on the phone with zero resolution. The manager of the boat site, Nico, refused (later a vendor had no problem). Nico blamed it on Go City - neither he nor Go City was being accountable. I ended up having to pay for my son's boat ticket since I wasn't about to have him wait onshore for me -- $58!! Then -- another event we'd reserved was canceled, and GoCity's system refused to let me rebook it. And then the movie tour was also canceled. Be aware that several of the offerings are only available on weekends or just one day a week. It's a racket, deceptive, but mostly - they are absolutely not helpful, do not honor their policies. Would never, ever use this again.

I purchased 3 experiences for my 19 year old daughter and I to select during the 4 days we visited downtown Chicago. The upfront cost was reasonable and it allowed us to decide on the items that were best for us, the weather and we weren’t locked into pre booked tours on specific days. When it was 103 degrees outside, the Field Museum was the perfect selection for that day! A river tour was amazing on a mild day with beautiful clouds on the skyline. We saved over $180 off standard gate prices. No need to look for coupons or worry if everyone will get to do their favorite things. Lots of choices, great savings! I will definitely use Go City Passes on future trips!

If you have a problem with the download after you pay for your passes—good luck. I purchased the tickets via credit card and never received the confirmation email.
I called customer service—a central call center—and they asked me to send a copy of my credit card receipt to a random email. Someone responded 8 hours later. Apparently the one person to help works the night shift. Still no tickets after she sent. Emailed her back. She asked for confirmation of email address. I confirmed—no email or response, 15 hours later.
Summary below:
Purchased tickets on line: 1am Weds
Called customer service in the morning—no tickets
Received an email back 8 hours later— they were resending
Contacted them again Thursday: waited another 8 hours for response
Friday at 4 pm: Still no tickets and no response to two emails. Called customer service again and got recording at 4pm CT that they are closed.
For a supposedly global company they have serious issues and a lack of customer service. Frustrating experience to say the least. My trip is in two days and I have no reservations for the attractions because I can’t get them to resend an email? They have my $400 Amex payment and I have no tickets 3 days later.
No choice but to dispute the charge and move on.
Something that should have been resolved in a few hours….not resolved after 3 full days.

I have a complaint, in the Navy Pier, is not clear if you can go to the wheel several times as the other atractions were closed in winter. We ask several persons there and all said no, except one that was not in the whelle e trance.
The app says this: Show your pass to the attendant directly at the Centennial Wheel or other rides for scanning. Please be aware that all rides must all be used on the same day.
Your pass lets you ride the Centennial Wheel plus three additional rides. If you decide to skip the Wheel, you cannot choose an alternative fourth ride.
With your three additional ride choices, you can go on the same ride multiple times, if you wish.

We used the passes for Chicago (river cruise, hop on hop off, sky deck) all very well organized apart from the bus which broke down! also in New York we used the pass for the Moma, for The Edge and for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island cruise. The cruise was a shocking experience, despite the hourly reservation we boarded an hour after the scheduled time, like in a cattle car, on a dirty boat with bottles, cans and other rubbish wandering around on the deck. Arriving very late, we weren't even able to get the audio guides at Ellis Island because it was close to the museum closing! To be avoided

Purchased the Explorer Pass online prior to mid-July trip to Chicago. We rate this as average because it is convenient to obtain and perhaps can save you money based on your personal choices. However, it is not for everyone and its use is somewhat misleading. Examples: If you want to do the fireworks cruise on the Tall Ship Windy, it's not included with the Pass, and there are others like that. For the more popular venues, such as Skydeck, you have to reserve a time and that attraction will only allow a reservation in advance and in person. Some others are the same way, such as the Big Bus Architectural Night Tour, which only departs from the Navy Pier area and requires an in person reservation. We attempted to go on a weeknight on that Tour only to be turned away because the tour was fully booked and we had not reserved in person and in advance. While as a couple we saved a few dollars we found using the pass was not as convenient as we had hoped, particularly due to the "in person advance reservation" requirements of a number of the more popular attractions. If you have to do that, you may as well pay when reserving for only a modest saving otherwise.

As first-time visitors to Chicago, the Go City app was wonderful. It was recommended to us by our hotel and it didn't disappoint. It was easy to use, and the flexibility of choices at various price points was also helpful. It made selecting from overwhelming options less stressful, and we of course appreciated the discounted price points on tickets.

Do these passes include rides at the Navy Pier and sky shows at the Planetarium? Are other rides/shows included? The list mainly says admission/entry but some reviews said they used the pass for things like the Ferris wheel. Where can I get an accurate list?
