- Seaside212990 contributionsThis was awesome!!!This was a great tour of the lights and history. Tom is the greatest. I would recommend this tour and would definitely book it again. It is definitely better with just your party.Written 2 December 2024
- B8336JUdavide0 contributionsGreat Way to See St. Augustine Historic SitesExcellent in all ways. Diane was very knowledgable and made the tour educational and pleasurable. Highly recommend this over the trolly tours or the hop on--off busesWritten 1 May 2024
- Marie000_110 contributionsFascinating St. Augustine! Our guide 'Diane' was there to greet us when we arrived and, as it was an unusually chilly morning, provided blankets for the tour which made it very comfortable. Her local history knowledge is extensive and she was able to answer all of our questions. The 4 of us were extremely satisfied with the tour and felt it really enhanced our visit to St. Augustine!Written 14 February 2024
- Q669NKjenniferc0 contributionsA Unique View of the Nights of Lights! We toured the Nights of Lights with Sarah and loved it! She was very informative and easy to talk with. She showed us the main streets of lights, sharing history about the town, architecture, and traditions of the town’s holiday season. Being locals, we also wanted to tour the side streets and this tour did not disappoint! We usually take the trolly tours, but being in a smaller vehicle, we were able to travel the narrower streets and zig zag through the traffic. We loved it and will do it again next year!Written 22 December 2023
- moharmony500 contributionsCould never contact them in personWe called Gold Tours repeatedly because it appeared to be a better alternative for us. Got no answer on one call, left messages on their voice mail (never returned), got put off on another call ("I'm about to take a tour group right now; call later.") We could book online but not for a city tour. If we wanted to take a Ghost Tour or another specialty tour, we could do so. They may have been under-staffed the week we were there.Written 28 November 2023

- sarahlK9340HJ0 contributionsAmazing and worth it.We had the most wonderful tour by Diane Friday morning. I booked the tour for myself, mother, grandma, and young son. It was perfect as my mom and grandma can’t walk far so they got to see the city and it was perfect for them. When we got there Diane had provided blankets and it was very thoughtful as it was more windy then I thought it would be. I have been in Jacksonville since 2019 and have been to St Augustine many times and this tour definitely left me with a new appreciation for the city and highlighted some new museums and places to first. I love that she focused more about the city then the fort which we’ve been to many times. We explored the surrounding streets and beautiful homes and history. Wonderful tour and great information. Well worth the experience.Written 28 January 2023
- 961JeffT9610 contributionsNights of lightsEnjoyed everything! Tom was very informative and made the tour lots of fun! He interacted with my daughter and son’s girlfriend who are both 18 and kept their attention as well as us older folks. We learned a couple things we didn’t know about st Augustine. Can’t wait to take the history tour.Written 4 January 2023

Simply put, this tour was wonderful. We booked a tour to see the lights, but Tom is clearly passionate about history and St. Augustine so he started by asking if we wanted to hear some historical info along the way. Of course we did, and Tom gave us one heck of a tour - much more informational and longer in duration than we expected for what we paid - a great value. Perhaps we were lucky because it was a rare quiet night in the city, so we were able to cover a lot of ground - but we felt like we got a private and very special tour. Tom offered to stop anytime we wanted for pictures and was really focused on ensuring we were comfortable and having a good time. I can’t imagine any trolley or train tour feeling so exclusive and personal, nor can they slip down those little alleys and back streets. Thank you, Tom, for a terrific tour.

Any time we visit a new city we splurge a little on the first day and find a private history tour on Trip Advisor. This 90 minute private golf cart tour (it was just two of us but the cart comfortably seats 6) was hardly a splurge at $130 + a well deserved gratuity. They don’t require a deposit and you pay cash at the start.
Tom, our very likable and knowledgeable guide (with a slight Boston accent!), has lived in St Augustine for 20+ years and is passionate about the history of the city. He interspersed many personal anecdotes and recommendations that will help us plan future visits to this beautiful and interesting city.
One significant advantage of the golf cart is that it can safely drive down the very narrow streets and alleys so you get to see things that you can’t on a trolley or bus tour. Bring your own water and even though the cart has a roof, wear sun screen on your arms because you will definitely get some exposure! We arrived about 8:45am on Saturday and found plenty of parking in the south lot of the Lightner Museum as well as on the side streets. Take a photo of your license plate because you’ll need to enter the tag number at the kiosk to get the receipt for your dash. Cost is $2.50/hr with a 4 hr max ($10.00).
This private tour ranks among the better ones we’ve taken around the world. It is efficient because in 90 minutes you can definitely get a great understanding of the history and the highlights of the area. Tom was a great guide and he got us very excited about coming back to St. Augustine in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our private tour with Dale, from learning about the rich history of the city to viewing the unique and beautiful architecture of the area. Dale is an excellent tour guide - his passion for sharing his deep knowledge of the city was remarkable, and he was very accommodating to our young children’s questions throughout tour. At the end of the tour, our 6 year old remarked that he had thought the tour would be “boring, but it was actually really interesting and fun”. Highly recommend this private tour!
Also, if you are concerned about COVID-19, this is a great option for you since it is a private tour, the tour guide cleaned the golf cart prior to the tour, and there is a protective plastic barrier between the driver and passengers (and a speaker system so you can hear the driver).

This fun and memorable tour takes you down some of the oldest streets within the original walled city of St. Augustine. It also provides a condensed history lesson while learning interesting facts and trivia you would otherwise miss out on with trolley tours. Dale is a wonderful tour guide who possesses a wealth of knowledge on the history and architecture of this charming city. You can tell he has a passion for both as his family roots in north Florida date back to the 1700's. You'll leave with a better understanding of the Spanish, French, British, native and American influences on St. Augustine and what makes it such a unique city with it's complex history and blend of cultures. My advice is to take this tour in the morning when the weather is cooler and traffic is lighter. Pick-up and drop-off points are conveniently located behind Lightner Museum and nearby restrooms inside the building. You can cool down and enjoy lunch at Alcazar Café and tour the museum afterward. Skip the crowded trolley tours and stops and take this tour instead. You'll be glad you did. Highly recommend!

We had only one day in St. Augustine, so we thought a private guided tour would give us the most bang for our short time. St Augustine Gold tours knocked this tour out of the park!
Kelcie was our local guide - and her knowledge and entertaining demeanor made our whole day. She knew her stuff, packed a lot of lore into 90 minutes and really made the town and it's place in history come to life. You really get the sense of this place until you learn it's long storied past. In this era of social distancing - this really is the best way to go and I think you get a tailored experience you just will never get vs a large scale tour with dozens of people.

Our guide Tom was the best! His tour of St Augustine was fascinating and very informative. Our group of 5 have essentially 60 years of Florida living amongst us and love seeing and learning about the different cities of this state. Tom definitely went above and beyond, answering questions that were raised that probably weren't part of his usual tour. The city is full of historical placards explaining the significance of the sights but it would take you forever to traverse the city on your own to find them. Let Tom and his associates give you the grand tour instead! So worth it.Covid precautions practiced. Highly recommend.

We have taken every kind of tour possible in St. Augustine, including by horse and carriage, the trolley, and walking. This Gold Tour was by far our favorite. The golf cart was able to go down the very narrow, old streets with ease.
Tom, our guide was insanely knowledgeable with a dab of humor.
He was kind enough to drop us off at the restaurant where we were dining after the tour.
A super tour for up to 6 people. Make a reservation in advance, they stay booked, especially during the night of lights.

Took the private Nights of Lights Tour with another couple on a weekend trip to St. Augustine. Tom was an excellent tour guide and even though we are all Central Floridians, we learned some interesting things. The lights were amazing and the money spent to have a private tour, rather than a trolley packed with others, was so well worth it. We 100% would recommend this tour and are looking forward to taking a regular history tour with him in the future.

This was a great tour. What I liked about it was that for the one low price, you could have up to 6 people in your group, and have it be a totally private tour. I appreciated that because of COVID. Also, the tour driver had a plastic sheet between him and I, and he also wore a face shield. My tour guide was Dale, who was great. I asked him to just tell me all the history he could, and he talked the entire time, which was wonderful. He knew so much about the history and archeological investigations of various sites.
