Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was really looking forward to spending the day enjoying Shell Island. Checked out their website for times and other information. Website said the ferry runs Tuesday through Saturday through February. Drove there and was told they only run Wednesday through Saturday. We were so disappointed, and hopefully we will have the chance to try again before we leave on Friday for home. PLEASE, update your website.

Good ferry and captain!
BUT: terrible signs. The signs along the circle road are misleading. You turn right, after the entrance to get on the circle road. After that, the first Ferry sign is for shop to buy tickets. It is NOT WHERE THE FERRY IS. You keep going around the circle and the second Ferry sign is where you catch the shuttle to the Ferry if the parking lot at the Ferry is full. It is NOT WHERE THE FERRY IS.
The next sign says Jetty and THAT is where the Ferry is. (Aaaargh!). Go on the roundabout and straight through. You can park there if it’s not crowded.
We did not know all this and almost missed the Ferry. Please, St. Andrews’s Park, do a better job with your signage. And put a map on your site and give one to the ticket buyers!!!

The captain Ryan was amazing. The boat ride was great... could put that you have to load up a few times on the website and walk far to get there, though 🤔
Also 40 bucks nearly to rent one umbrella just for a hour that we stayed due to infant was kinda steep could put that price on website also 😳

Good Morning, I'm glad that you enjoyed the boat ride. Our umbrella ($27.00 per day) price is the same at all of our locations (St Andrews State Park & Shell Island) . Please let me know if that is not the case, you can contact me directly at joe.pereira@guestservices.com w/ St. Andrews Shell Island Adventures

Great ride to Shell Island. Ferry was comfortable and clean, crew was nice and we felt safe. The only negative was that we didn't realize the walk on the boardwalk was as long as it was and on a hot day, that was kind of miserable.

Thank you for your review. We are so happy that your ride with us was a good one to Shell Island. It is a beautiful place and our guests love being there. The summer heat in Florida is sometimes tough. We hope you might come back again to visit us in the fall or even winter months when the temperature is moderate.

Enjoyed a wonderful ride to and from Shell Island with an excellent crew who were very friendly, funny and entertaining. We had hoped to find more shells but because of strong waves and recent storms there were not many, but we did find sand dollars. Walked about 1 1/2 miles along the sandy shoreline which was beautiful. We will definitely visit again.

Thank you for sending us your review. Shell Island is such a wonderful place inviting guests to share its 7 miles of natural beauty and white sand beach. Its always hard to predict if shells will be found in abundance or just a few-Mother Nature is always in charge. But we are delighted that you saw sand dollars. Thank you for visiting us and taking the Ferry- we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Book directly through Shell Island Ferry !
They say they will pick you up at another point through TripAdvisor, They will not they only pick up at the state park. The ferry was wonderful and thank goodness rescheduled our ferry because we missed it due to waiting and finding the pick up location.

You would think that an island named Shell Island would have an abundance of shells. We decided to rename the island to one more representative.

Thank you for the feedback, please keep in mind that the water currents can and do change things from time to time. Normally, Shell Island is filled with a wide assortment of shells. While you'll most commonly find conch shells, you are also likely to come across whelk, pin shells, periwinkles, and moon snails. I hope that you have an opportunity to revisit us again.

Beautiful, quiet beach. However if you want to snorkel take your own boat so you can access the side of the island that has the best areas for this. The ferry only drops off at the main island section and walking to those sites are quite difficult especially if you have supplies in tow.

Thank you for sending us your review. You are correct that Shell Island is a beautiful place, really special, and snorkeling is available from several points on the island.
The good news is that we have pontoon boats for rental should you wish to visit Shell Island on your own and snorkel, swim and float.
