Highly recommend if you want to gain appreciation for the area and have good time
Julie our guide was fantastic. Informative and fun. Regardless of the prior knowledge, we learned so much more about not just the Art Deco architecture (which was so great) but the history of the South Beach and gained even deeper appreciation for the area.

The history of Miami Beach architecture.
Fantastic. He is a wealth of knowledge. Learned quite a bit about the history of Miami Beach. It encompasses more than Art Deco. Hope to attend more of Howard’s talks in the future.

We went on this 90 minute walking tour IN THE RAIN. And never considered dropping out, the tour was that good. We learned enough about art deco and other architectural styles to be a topic of conversation for the remainder of our time in South Beach. Our guide, John, a board member of the Design Preservation League, was knowledgable and entertaining. We, as folks in our 70's, found the pace comfortable to maintain. John invited questions from the group and was quite able to answer them. The modest fee for the tour included admission to the Art Deco Museum, also recommended. We spent some time there before the tour, which gave some useful orientation to what we would be seeing, and followed up with a longer visit afterward that consolidated what we had learned. Thanks to John, also, for a great tip on a local Cuban restaurant for lunch.

While our broader group was getting their act together, the two of us beat the thunderstorm and enjoyed this Art Deco education. Meeting and starting from the Miami Beach Art Deco Museum, our excellent guide Howard Brayer led a small group around Ocean and Collins.

We love Art Deco and have both previously lived in the area. Howard’s excellent commentary on the fascinating history of Miami Beach, the origins and fortunes of Art Deco expanded our knowledge and perspective tremendously.

Howard provides clear direction, commentary and a well researched depth of local history and architectural style pointers.

The walking tour was 90 minutes. It felt the right length. Suggest taking water with you.

The walking tour returns you to the museum and your tour price includes museum access. For another twenty minutes, the back story and historic photos are well worth your time.

Recommended. Thank you Howard. Nice job.

Joel Levine, our guide was absolutely excellent. His plethora of knowledge rivals that of Jeopardy champions! His friendly demeanour and cheerful sense of humor made this a souvenir of Miami Beach long to be remembered. He devoted two full hours to ensuring that we absorbed as much as possible, answered every question and was very patient. He said we'd walk about a mile (1.6km); I don't know if we did walk that distance because he made it so simple with countless stops at points of interest. He also brought us into the lobbies of a couple of hotels (which were comfortably air conditioned) and gave us more insight into the history of Miami Beach and its people. I loved this tour.

We booked this tour and we were not disappointed. Our tour guide was Mark and he was very knowledgeable and passionate which made the tour really interesting. We loved that we could actually go inside some of these amazing buildings - the best part of the tour - and see architectural details and features we have never seen before and to learn about their history and context was fascinating. Going back a few streets and seeing some other architectural delights was great and we can definitely recommend this tour.

If visiting for a few days in SOBE, I would highly recommend taking this highly informative and interesting (never boring) walking tour. Mark provided just the right amount of background on the settling of Miami Beach and the chronicles of SOBE from the turn of the twentieth century to present as told through the Art Deco architecture that will likely be the backdrop for your vacation experience. Enjoyed learning the origins and evolution of the defining characteristics of Art Deco Hotels on Ocean Drive as well as the preservation efforts. Mark also took us inside two hotel lobbies you would probably miss if not on this tour. Walk through museum (admission included with tour) has hundreds of photos and other interesting information and visuals that puts a bow on the experience. I am not an artsy person, just find the Art Deco style intriguing and learning more did not disappoint,

We had an excellent tour yesterday, guided by Howard, who was extremely knowledgeable. He provided so much information, not only of the architecture (which is amazing), but also of the population and history of Miami Beach. The tour is approximately two hours long and goes by in a flash. Definitely worth putting on your list to do in Miami Beach! The price of the tour includes admission to the small, very interesting, museum.

Highly recommend this insightful Art Deco walking tour if visiting Miami! Miami is home to the world's most Art Deco historical buildings, and for this reason alone, I would highly recommend taking the 2-hour morning tour to learn about the history, culture, architecture and society of South Beach and Miami. Our tour guide, John, was friendly, fun, knowledgable, patient, and very informative. He was engaging with the entire group, quizzing us on our knowledge and answering all of our questions. My partner and I, really enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot as she recently moved to Miami and wanted to learn more about the city. It was definitely one of our top highlights of our visit to Miami. John, our tour guide, even surprised us with taking us to some best kept secret Art Deco locations for great photo opps and opportunities to explore some of the buildings within. Thank you to John, the Official Art Deco Walking Tour, and the Preservation League for such a fantastic experience!

Howard is a knowledgeable, personable, and engaging tour guide that led our walking tour of various examples of Art Deco architecture in Miami Beach.

We reserved tickets for the 10:30am Saturday morning tour in early February. There was heavy road construction and preparations for the Miami Marathon. As a result, our trip from the Brightline station in downtown Miami took *much longer* than expected. Plan accordingly.

Got to the Art Deco Museum about 15 minutes before the tour started and checked in. They gave each participant a set of headphones to amplify the tour guide; luckily for us, our guide, Howard, spoke loudly and clearly enough to be heard over the occasional Lambo or Ferrari revving its engine or dance music blaring from a nearby bar/restaurant/club.

The tour itself was a little less than two hours in length. We stopped several times along the route where the group was able to get some shade; however, most of the tour is outside, so bring a hat and lots of water. Howard took us into the lobby of the Hotel Victor (which was beautiful) but that was the only relief we got from the elements.

The tour itself was wonderful and Howard was a terrific, knowledgeable tour guide who was well-prepared and answered all of our questions. It's obvious that he loves both the Art Deco architecture and his job as a tour guide.

Our tour guide Mark was entertaining and very knowledgeable. Not only did he deliver on the promise of a comprehensive tour of ArtDeco in South Beach, he also provided an excellent overview of the history of Miami. This is a must do event for all first time visitors to the area. Also lots of stopping points and places to sit down so not at all tiring.
