About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Flyer624117575750 contributionsAn amazing trip!An amazing trip! I’m still on a high a month later. Challenging moments with three boys under 8 and my 64 year old mum but it was one of the best times of my life. The four wheel driving was hardcore! So much fun! And the camper provided was perfect! Loved it!!Written 8 August 2024
- Explore041476905940 contributionsA fabulous and unique 4WD adventureThis was a trip that made family memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks Tim, Joey and Sally for looking after us so well - it was a great balance for us being able to do the four-wheel driving ourselves, whilst having the food and organisation taken care of. We appreciated the effort to get us to special places and unique campsites, words and pictures just don't quite do it justice. The Kimberley is a unique environment and a great holiday destination to lose the hustle and bustle of everyday life, whilst still being active and having plenty to see and do. Highly recommended!Written 4 August 2024
- anthear3770 contributionsTruly exceptionalWe have travelled a lot and this stands out as one of the best trips we have EVER done. We are a family of 4 with two kids aged 9 and 13. We loved the idea of going in a convoy of 4WDs bc we wanted to have some level of independence and yet we wanted the security of having people who knew the way and could help with the cars if anything went wrong. As it turns out, they also make the fire and work out all the food too - a bonus! Tim and his two kids Sally and Joey did a great job leading this trip. We got to see fantastic sites and we got to stay in amazing campsites that were away from the crowds. The scenery is stunning and it was the most remote area of Australia we had visited. The kids loved everything about it - esp jumping off rocks into water holes and getting to use the radios between the cars. We were very impressed with the quality of the 4WD and the sleeping compartment on top. This was an expensive trip by our measures but we felt it was well worth it and will stay with us as a family memory that we treasure. We liked it so much that we'd love to have Tim take us on another trip like this eg from Adelaide to Alice.Written 2 August 2024
- juliodS661ES0 contributionsAn incredible experienceA truly incredible experience ! We had the most amazing time with Tim, Sally, Josh and our fellow travelers. We felt so privileged to discover the Kimberley this way, sleeping under the stars, in incredible places just for ourselves, it was absolutely fabulous and the kids just loved it as much as we did. The team took such good care of all of us, with the perfect balance between each family's need and a great group's dynamics. Thanks again !Written 27 July 2024
- C2180GDbethf0 contributionsBeyond WordsKimberley Adventure Tours offers an incredible and unrivalled Kimberley experience. Private bush camps on escarpments , next to waterholes and on the side of streams was just one of the many highlights . The team had us up early with delicious breakfasts by campfires with brewed coffee and billy tea before we swam, hiked, strolled and gently navigated 4WD tracks I never thought I could ever do. We hit the trifecta with Tims guidance and support and Joey and Sallys expertise making it a must for singles couples and families. Total immersion into nature with sunrises sunsets milky ways and starry nights usually reserved for National Geographic . Put your trust in this team to give you a once in a lifetime experience .Written 1 July 2024
- Aus_traveller_90810 contributionsHands down the best tour I’ve ever done! Truly life-changing! 🌿This tour is hands down the best tour I’ve ever done! I’ve done loads of tours all over the world and doing this tour with Rik was absolutely phenomenal. Rik has so much knowledge and experience and shows so much care and kindness with guiding the tour. His 20+ years of guiding experience all over the world makes such a difference, and I’d happily sign up to any tour guided by Rik again! Give the man a raise, because I swear he made the trip 200% better than it would’ve been otherwise (and that would have already been 11/10). I give him more than a 5 star review, I’m going with a 10 star review! (…also sorry for talking about cheese so much Rik :P) This tour changed my life. Camping under the stars, hiking to waterfalls/water holes everyday, exploring amazing places, hearing Aboriginal stories and seeing rock art, seeing ALL the wildlife (bats, crocs, birds, wallabies, fish etc), clambering over gorges finding new places, seeing the Bungle Bungles at sunrise/sunset, flying in a helicopter over the Bungle Bungles, walking and swimming through a dark bat cave to explore, hiking into see places early in the morning when no one else is there, Kununurra gorge at sunset, swimming at the beach at Mt Barnett camp site near Manning Gorge, swimming at sunset at Lake Argyle with a drink in hand and floating nibbles nearby, did I mention the amazing birdlife?! You couldn’t wipe the smile off my face the whole trip! I wouldn’t shut up chatting about wildlife and nature and saying ‘wow!’ at every turn. The food is excellent! Fresh, healthy and different options every day! Cooking together with everyone adds to the magic of the trip. One camp site even has an outdoor shower! (a personal favourite). Travelling on this tour through the Kimberley is sooo good for the soul. Do it, do it, do it!! You won’t regret it! And if you can, request to go on a tour with Rik or Adam. Both are awesome, and make it even more fantastic!Written 20 August 2023
- Penwilmot0 contributions10 day Broome to Broom Self Drive TourThis was a trip of a lifetime for us. We are a family of 5, with three children aged 14, 12 and 11. We had such a great time mixing with the other families on our tour, and having the cars meant that we could access some remote spots which made it even more special. Tim, Heath and Angie are true professionals, and they know their stuff! They planned an incredible adventure, and took care of all the details. We loved our holiday and highly recommend this to those interested in travelling through the Kimberley.Written 18 July 2023
- RobG3930 contributionsThe great Gibb river road experienceThis trip, we did Broome to Darwin, was a series of wonderful days, one after another, great camping locations, great swims, wonderful sunsets, beautiful gorges and a super guide. I highly recommend travelling on this trip.Written 24 July 2022
- AislingK650 contributionsDarwin to Broome ADVENTUREMy friends and I cannot recommend this tour enough, trip of a lifetime! Niall and Joey were class guides and great craic, couldn't have done more! Niall was very knowledgeable and super positive! They definitely made our trip unforgettable! Although we had a few technical hiccups along the way, they were repaired/replaced/dealt with asap and Niall made quick decisions to ensure we didn't miss out on anything that was on the itinerary. The food was faultless with lots of it and plenty of variety. Everywhere we camped was amazing and the swags and tents provided were great. It is definitely an adventure tour and to get the most out of it you definitely have to be fit and willing to scramble over boulders and walk on uneven surfaces! Every gorge we visited was better than the last and every day became our favourite day! Thanks a million to KAT for the best Kimberly experience!Written 15 July 2022
- Melanie W0 contributions10 Day Darwin to Broome Tag-A-Long 4WD experience.Coming from Sydney and trying to plan this trip for multiple families and kids (ages 11-16yrs) , i quickly realised the enormity of the challenge. I found Tim's company on TripAdvisor and booked a tag-along 4WD experience with Tim as our guide. Tim was a godsend. He provided all of the gear, food/meals and had expert knowledge of where to go, how to get many of the gorges and sites to ourselves and knew all the best spots to stay along the way. From the get-go everyday was fabulous. We swam in so many different and stunning gorges, did some fun hikes, lots of rock jumping, visited some sacred indigenous art sites, and bathed in hot springs just to name a few of the many diverse experiences. Everyone had a different favourite day: camping on an island in Lake Argle, Edith Falls, Cathedral gorge at Bungle Bungles, the secret cave in tunnel creek, manning gorge, Bell gorge, and zebedee hot springs. Experiencing 4WD Driving through numerous rivers/creeks was also lots of fun. The heli flight over the bungle bungles was also an added highlight. Tim had everything we needed to make our camping experience fun and memorable. Sleeping under the stars in unbelievably comfortable swags was a highlight. The kids loved helping set up camp fire each night and devoured Tim's wonderful meals! We could not imagine doing this trip any other way and it was beyond our expectations. We highly recommend Tim and Kimberley Adventure Tours for making our holiday so memorable.Written 7 July 2022
- Shane S0 contributionsThe best Kymberley experience you can haveAbsolutely amazing trip experiencing all of the highlights the Kimberley can offer. Niall our driver was simply amazing going way above and beyond to ensure we all had the most amazing experience. We couldn’t believe that each day experiences got better and better, what a magical place that Kymberley is and Kymberley adventure Tours do it so well thanks so much Niall, Tim and Nichole for a great experience, One that we will never forget and highly recommend it to anyone.Written 6 July 2022
- Karmyalife0 contributionsBEST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVESThis trip is actually hard to leave a review for because it’s hard to find the words to describe just how special it was…we were left absolutely speechless so much of the trip, filled with awe, wonder and gratitude for being able to experience the magical Kimberley. The Kimberley creates endless adventure and amazingness all on its own that it’s hard to believe the quality of your guide could add much more…BUT TRUST US, it does! Heath was absolutely unreal. His bush skills, campfire cooking skills, positive and solutions-focused attitude, calm demeanour in potentially stressful situations, knowledge of the land (including where to camp, when to visit certain places, knowing station owners and Aboriginal land holders etc.) along the way, and his ability to cater to and provide options for our group (private tag along tour) took the trip from incredible to out of this world. Do yourself a favour and max out your credit cards or take out a loan or just find a way to do this trip!! Only thing I would change is go for longer. We are inspired to get back there as soon as we can on our own. Thank you!Written 10 July 2021
- Pebbles12100 contributionsBook Now!!Wow Wow Wow!!!! BOOK NOW!!! Honestly the greatest thing I’ve ever done!! Every little part of this Adventure tour from Darwin to Broome was sublime! Our tour guide Niall absolutely made it! He was so knowledgeable and ensured all our needs were met and really was the glue that held our incredible group together! No task was too difficult and he had such a positive attitude towards everything!! Highlights: camping under the stars in swags, cooking in camp ovens over the fire, incredible hikes through wild flowers to majestic gorges!! Honestly, our tour finished over a month ago and I’m still buzzing!! Do yourself a favour and don’t even think about it— just book!!!! Food was top notch too!!!!!Written 23 June 2021
- cotts40 contributionsHoliday of a lifetimeWe recently completed a 10 day private tour from Darwin to Broome down the Gibb River Road tour with Kimberley Adventure Tours, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. May/June is a perfect time for this route as there is a lot of greenery and water flowing in the waterfalls. The scenery was spectacular and we had the most wonderful experiences. The word of our holiday was “wow”! We loved that we had the opportunity to stay in wild bush camps and the serenity that came with it. There’s nothing quite like laying in your swag, looking at the stars and hearing the dingoes howl in the distance. Heath was a fabulous tour guide and was one of the main reasons we had such a wonderful holiday. He was so knowledgeable and knew the best places to camp, the best places to visit and the best time to get there. There was the odd issue with punctures due to the rough road, but that is all part of the adventure. No matter what happened Heath would have a smile on his face and a friendly word for everyone. Every meal was fabulous – everything just tastes better when cooked over an open fire. We all agreed we were incredibly lucky to have Heath as our guide. Thank you Kimberley Adventure Tours and Heath for taking such good care of us and giving us a holiday we will never forget.Written 23 June 2021
- AbsolutelyCrazy0 contributionsSimply fantastic! Our trip (10 Day Darwin to Broome) with Kimberley Adventure Tours (KAT) was simply fantastic. The Kimberley, ie northern WA, is beautiful (but is busier than normal at the moment due to border closures) and more interesting to visit than the west coast, Broome to Perth, based on my recent experience. May, the beginning of the dry season, is simply the best time to visit this region. The obvious highlights of the tour are Bungle Bungle (including the optional helicopter ride), the waterfalls, the campfires, the stars, and the rides along the unsealed roads! Our campsites, in particular, those bush campsites with no facilities, were simply awesome. However, it was our tour guide, Niall, who made this trip ultra-enjoyable and memorable. He was energetic, easy-going, a great cook (oh my his pork crackling camp roast was simply fantastic), and has an ability to gel the group together. There were a few other tour groups travelling with us at the same time with similar itineraries, and ours was simply the one that had the most fun. Our entire group stuck around after the tour finished in Broome as if we were still on tour! Unfortunately, the “extended” tour had to end as many of us had to go home to work. Niall has shown us many hidden gems around the area that was not part of the itinerary, and we got to meet and talk to many locals and traditional owners. I cannot recommend this tour and our guide Niall highly enough for those who want to have a real adventure!Written 15 June 2021

So disappointed that the Australian Prime Minister has banned all tourists like ourselves entering your beautiful country for the foreseeable future and certainly not before the end of the year.
Like everyone our circumstances have changed significantly due to the virus and we may never be able to make the trip.
Tim also appears to be having problems as he cannot refund our money, only offer to book us for the same week next year. But where the world will be this time next year is anyone's guess

Unfortunately providing a credit for future travel is currently our only option, and appears to be a very standard response the the pandemic from tourism businesses all over the world.
As I have stated previously, this situation was 100% beyond our control, it wasn't mismanagement, it wasn't fraud, it wasn't incompetence or negligence, we, like many other small tourism businesses and many large tourism corporations, have been caught in a unavoidable net, no one anywhere in the world planned for this scenario.
Many have gone broke and even credits have evaporated, I am thankful that we are in a position to continue to trade for another season and can at least offer you the opportunity for you to use your credit in the future.
I understand that this is not ideal, I wish it were different. Hopefully you can make out to Australia at some point and we can complete our end of the bargain.

Tim never answers his phone or replies to any emails. We had a trip booked for September 20 and was canceled dew to Covid 19. We were told it would be rebooked 12 months later. I have tried to contact Tim to rebook another date but to no avail. Seems he has done a runner with our money. Don't trust this company.

Wow, brutal!
Hey man I didn't cause the virus, but I have been trying as hard as I can to deal with the fallout.
You may like to consider our business, like many around the world involved in tourism, has limited staff to deal with communications, this happens when your have no income.
You may also like to consider that the owner of a business, faced with no income and many thousands of dollars a month of vehicle loan payments, an uncertain future and the real possibility of losing everything he has worked hard for over 25 years, may be having a difficult time?
Didn't think of that? No worries, I'll just drop everything, sort out your life immediately and take responsibility for the government cancelling the world, would you like fries with that?
Perhaps, and this is just an idea, that instead of trying to damage our business even further by sticking the boot in, maybe just wait a bit until we have got our feet back on the ground, as you have noted, your new trip would not be due to depart for another 12 months, surely you can wait a bit?
I have not done a runner, I could have, it would have been a whole lot easier and cheaper.
So far I have sorted out about 300 customers with new bookings, I thought I'd start with those who's travel was earlier than yours, you know, do it in order?
I'm sorry that I didn't respond to you back in September, from memory I think I was experimenting with alcoholism, however we did get around to sending you an email back on the 30th of November with travel options for the future, which ironically you didn't respond to, when you get around to it, you could respond to that and we could get you sorted.

This trip took camping to a whole other level. Sleeping beneath the stars and waking to birdsong at sunrise was only the beginning. Niall packed the days with adventure, local stories, delicious fresh food and a genuine love of country. Our girls (aged 10 & 12) especially loved swimming in a different gorge every day and the fire-side sing-a-longs. The ever changing beauty of The Kimberley has deepened our appreciation for Australia and the incredible connections our indigenous people have with its ancient history. We are so lucky to be able to access it and be touched by its spirit. Thank you Kimberley Adventure Tours.

I have gone on multiple tours with various companies and styles, and this tour has been my favourite. Early starts meant beautiful sunrises, and big days meant lots of time for adventure. Swimming holes, short walks, rock hopping, saltwater crocs, and beautiful scenery without crowds!!
“Participation based” meant collecting firewood, helping set up camp, prepping meals, washing up, starting the fire etc. - it was all part of the experience and was a good chance to get to know a fellow traveller that you may not have had the chance to chat with yet. The swags were basic but comfortable, and gave the perfect view for star gazing and watching the sunrise.
Trent was our guide and had extensive knowledge of the Kimberly area - including flora, fauna, aboriginal history, and secluded camp spots. He was organised, clear and patient. He cooked dinner on the camp fire 7 of 8 nights, each meal better than the last. His experience and timing meant we got to see the Kimberly at it’s best (I.e. lookouts in time for sunset, iconic destinations before the crowd etc).
Will definitely be recommending this trip to friends and family!

If you want a real adventure, then west adventure tours is for you.
I was one of 13 on the first trip of the season, after coming off the Perth to Broom adventure, which had been amazing. I was lucky to have met Niall our guide as he had joined our trip two days before we got to broom, and what a credit to the company he is, with his organisation skills, knowledge of the region and its geological history and his love of the wild life was refreshing, Catering for dietary needs was outstanding having Vegans vegetarians is a challenge! his meals were to die for, all cooked on the open fire , even baked a cake.
Niall would always be on the look out for wild life to find us,be it a fresh water crocodile, lizard, Frog, sadly we never came across any spiders or snakes but I’m sure he would have been right there! Through out the 9 days we had two punctures on the trailer, which he just took in his stride fixing them in no time at all, even when the whole wheel came off the bumble bee on the last day, only being 1 and a half hrs from Darwin! He just got on and dealt with it without a fuss. He was our Hero!!
Our day would start at 5am before the sunrise, rolling up our swags, all working as a team to get things out for breakfast, washing up and then packing everything up in to our 4x4 the bumble bee..... ready to hit the road by 7am to our next adventure. We would stop at lunch time and it would be all hands on deck, getting everything out chopping salads to put in our delicious wraps, and then clean up pack away and on our way again. We would stop and collect wood so we could set up our fire when we arrived at camp which would be around Sunset or after.....( there was just 1 person in the group I felt didn’t pull their weight, but wasn’t going to let them spoil my trip)
Sleeping out in a swag was amazing, even being so hot and not being able to sleep, looking up and seeing the Southern cross / The Milky Way and other constellations.... I was in my element! (may be invest in a small fan)
our adventures would consist of going to the Kimberly region with its rugged ranges dramatic gorges isolated coast line, taking in the amazing scenery of the landscape, Hiking through those gorges swimming in billabongs, the Argyle lake which was breathtaking, sleeping on an isolated island on the lake , another special day was spent swimming and hiking through Manning gorge ...what an awesome adventure !!
Another day Arriving at the bungles, we rose at 4am and drove and walked for half hr to watch the colour of the rock formation change as the sun rose....Stunning.... Then a few of us took the opportunity to take a helicopter ride over the Bungles just takes your breath away!! And walking in the Purnululu national park among the bungles. Every day we were swimming in pools with spectacular waterfalls, most days with the fresh water crocks so exciting!
I could go on and on, I loved the whole experience and would do it all over again tomorrow.
Thank you x

This is a perfect adventure for those who like to get off the beaten track and sleep under the stars. Everyday was a new experience, a new water hole, gorge, lake, hot spring, swim and walk. Trent our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the region and its geological and Indigenous history. He cooked well on the camp fire including vego and was very supportive of all on the tour including me, a basic swimmer with my noodle on the big swim at Manning Gorge. Absolutely fantastic. Of course the scenery incredible. No one place stood out for me. All stops had their own beauty. The tour includes pick up and drop off at your accomm. So if you don't mind sleeping in a swag, roughing it a bit, sleeping under the stars, seeing Freshies and having a great outdoor adventure then this tour will give you a wonderful adventure.

Huge shout out to Niall for being a laid back yet engaging guide helping the group push themselves and get a real sense of adventure in this beautiful part of Australia! The highlight for me was the route back from Manning gorge barefoot, something only this company do (you don't have to do it barefoot tho)!
If you like lots of hiking, swimming and exploring this is the tour for you, be warned there aren't a lot of facilities. I think we had showers for three of the nine days. If you like swag camping in the bush, you'll love this tour.
A typical day was a big hike in the morning or afternoon with a swim, wraps for lunch, between 1-4 hrs of driving, collecting firewood for camp then getting into camp to light fires and drink beers!
Had an absolute blast, thanks again for the great memories.

I did whole Australia but this tour is absolutely the best! Almost everyday campfire, cooking on the campfire. You swim everyday at beautiful spots and not forget to mansion lake Argy what was stunning! We had the best tour guide there is in Australia thanks Trent your awesome and I will see you again!
