- Dream380369305510 contributionsGourmet Food and Wine Tour of Downtown Napa worth every pennyWe always like to do a food tour when we visit a new place to learn about the history and culture of the area. Our Food and Wine Tour Downtown Napa was especially nice since it included some delicious wine and sherry tasting. Our guide, Aniko, went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable and had plenty to eat and drink. She also educated us on the history of the area and made us feel like we were a part of the local scene. At the end of our tour, when one of us lost an earring, she returned to the restaurant to retrieve it, AFTER the tour had ended. We highly recommend the tour and Aniko!Written 7 November 2024

The chef and owners put love and creativity and thought into their dishes. We made new friends as well! Bravo! Would definitely do this again.Written 22 April 2023

- WilliamB57590 contributionsFood Wine and Historical SynergyI remember going wine tasting in Napa and Sonoma years ago and enjoying the experience. Although, having a personal tour guide and sommelier walk us through Sonoma Square is well worth the quite affordable experience. Gourmet Food and Wine Tours guided us on such a pleasant day with a California history tossed in, a majestic eucalyptus tree gifted from Abraham Lincoln to General Vallejo among other historical gems made this wine tasting a foodie feast, a totally enjoyable experience. The stops we made were well planned and built upon each other as we tasted and sipped out way around. The wines were well paired with the food and with the California history of the place makes the experience more than just wine tasting. Highly recommended!! -WilliamWritten 28 August 2021
- 207traceyk0 contributionsPoor Communication3 girlfriends, booked trip for October about a month ago, our credit cards billed immediately. So here we are, night before the trip, no communication from the business. We finally tracked her down to be told tours cancelled for the month. Now, it's fine to cancel, especially given fire problems in the valley, but communication is key, and we feel the ball was dropped here. Now we have nothing to do on a vacation day and are scrambling to use our time effectively. And yes, the owner was offering to try to put something together for us, last minute, and did not feel good, it frankly felt rushed and second rate. Maybe there is a backstory here, especially with fire danger, but we dont know and expected better communication even under changeable conditions.Written 1 October 2020
- E9342HZsandys0 contributionsHistory tour of Sonoma SquareI had a wonderful, informative tour with Renee about the Sonoma Square! I have worked in Sonoma for over 12 years and had very limited knowledge of the history of the town. I have such a new appreciation of the buildings and the history now. Renee is a wonderful guide and so positive even when sharing some history that does not shed the best light on the human race. It is so worth the time to do this tour! Thank you Renee from myself and the entire group that I brought! They all loved it!Written 17 March 2020
- Gary H0 contributionsWant to drink wine, eat gourmet food and meet wonderful people? We had a fantastic time with Renee. The tours we took were informative and fun along with great wine and gourmet food. We got to meet some wonderful people as well. Want to explore where to eat and drink and learn about the area then take one or more of these tours. We took all but 2 of the tours and were never disappointed. We highly recommend Renee and Gourmet Wine & Food Tours. BTW - we have taken many food tours around the country and Renee's tours tops them all by far.Written 9 December 2019
- gindermill0 contributionsBest food and wine tour!We were so excited to participate in a food and wine tour during our trip to wine country. The Kincade Fire forced us to alter our original plan. Originally scheduled for a tour in Healdsburg, our tour was canceled due to the forest fire. Ultimately our trip was cut short because the Sonoma County was forced to evacuate due to the fire. Gourmet Food and Wine Tours to the rescue As a small business owner of Gourmet Food and Wine Tours, Renee does a remarkable job working with local restaurant owners to hand select food and wine to be featured during the tour. Her all female staff are knowledgable, well trained and friendly. Renee was kind enough to book our group tour last minute in food and wine walking tour in Yountville. Our guide Elisabeth was so knowledgable and well spoken. We stopped at so many fantastic restaurants. The food and pairings were superb! Our two favorites were Bistro Jeanty for Tomato Soup or Salade Maraichere paired with Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc, and Thomas Keller's La Calenda restaurant for fresh Oaxacan fish taco with Rosé. Our second food and wine tour was in Sonoma. There were fewer stops, but we did much more exploring of downtown Sonoma. Renee's daughter was our guide and she shared many stories about the history of the town of Sonoma. Our favorite stop was El Dorado Kitchen for Ahi tuna taco & truffle parmesan french fries paired with Trefethen Dry Reisling. Happy to support small business owners. We would definitely participate in another tour during our next visit.Written 5 December 2019

We had the best time on the “Yountville Food & Wine” tour even though it rained all day. Aniko, our tour leader, was fabulous. If we could, we would have rated her a 20 out of 10! She’s friendly, knowledgeable and a great listener.
Two special things about the tour for us…
1) We were the only people on the tour, making it totally private!
2) Aniko remembered my sister & brother-in-law, who recommended this tour to us, who also were on a private tour.
We laughed about it, so much!
Our tour began at RH with a burrata appetizer & a paired rose’. Then walked in the rain (it was fine, not terrible) to Bottega (an Italian restaurant) for a delicious raviolo & a paired chianti. An extra… Aniko surprised my wife with a special birthday dessert. Then to Kollar Chocolates… delish (we enjoyed the wine pairing (pinot noir) with the chocolates at the end, at The Vault (RH)… mmm! After the chocolate store, we went to La Calenda (a Mexican restaurant) for fish tacos and street corn with another great wine pairing.
OMG, we loved it all.
We recommend this tour to all and if Aniko is your tour leader, you’re the luckiest person on earth!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful testimony of your experience with us - Gourmet Food & Wine Tours and the lovely Aniko. How fortunate you both received a private tour! Seems we are either booked solid or we have a random 2 people tour, you never know - but I am so glad you enjoyed and endorse all we do to be sure you have a memorable and tasty experience. Thank you so much, Renee

I cannot begin to express the unique and memorable experience of the Yountville Gourmet Food & Wine tour. Aniko and Viv were very knowledgeable about the evolution of Yountville becoming the "culinary capital" of Napa Valley. They provided superior customer service in ensuring our group enjoyed the food and wine and adhered to attendees' dietary restrictions. The tour was organized and thoroughly enjoyed by all. I highly recommend you participate in Yountville's Gourmet Food and Wine tour. It is a great way to try out the much sought out restaurants.

The Yountville tour was fantastic! Our guide was Aniko. She was wonderful, the kind of person you are immediately comfortable talking with, as if you’ve known her for years. Her knowledge of each of the restaurant’s menus, their wine list and the history of the Yountville area was amazing. Her enthusiasm for all things culinary was infectious and the company is very fortunate to have her on their staff. My wife and I love fine dining. Like everyone, over the years we have found our favorite dishes, but favorites are safe and this was our time to be adventurous. We agreed in advance that we would trust our tour guide’s choices and approach each course with no preconceptions. Aniko didn’t disappoint. Each course was beautifully plated, and her wine selections made the flavors of each dish “pop”. Most importantly my wife and I renewed our appreciation for trying new culinary experiences.
Aniko made our tour feel like we were on an episode of Anthony Bourdain. A little area history followed by really beautiful gourmet samples (some of which were almost to pretty to eat) and just the right wine. It would not surprise us at all if Aniko had her own TV show one day- She was that good.
Thank you!!

This is such a wonderful description of Aniko and Yountville! Thank you for taking the time to write so much about your time with us this month. I AM so grateful for Aniko! She was a customer on my tour with me years ago in Yountville and I waited patiently for many, many moons until she could come and work for me! I really cherish customers like you as much as I do my amazing guides. Thank you for supporting our small business and for sharing with others how you loved your tour with Aniko and Gourmet Food & Wine Tours. We hope you will try another of our locations when you get the chance.
In Full Gratitude,
Renee

Gourmet Food & Wine Tours planned a lovely Sausalito event for us in March, 2023. This was our first time doing an event like this and everything was managed and handled flawlessly. Renee and her team were fantastic to work with and catered to our every request. They made thoughtful suggestions and went above and beyond to make the event very memorable. I look forward to working with them again.

I love food tours and try to do one on every trip, if available. This tour had less walking than I would have liked, but Aniko, our guide, was great and it was very fun. We started with a small producer rose and Cowgirl Creamery Devil’s Gulch cheese at V Marketplace. Walked around the Marketplace and then had chianti and the raviolo at Bottega. Normally the tour goes to La Calenda but we went to Coqueta instead, for dry sherry, boquerones, and patatas bravas. Then we finished with Kollar Chocolates and port in the garden of the French Laundry. I loved Yountville and would have liked to explore the main street a bit more, especially the Art Walk, but right as our tour was ending, the rain started pouring. Of course our guide can't control the weather! :)

We had a phenomenal experience with Aniko at the lunch walking tour in Napa! Excellent restaurant choices - Compline, Tarla, Annette's, Be Bubbly, and La Taberna - made for a balanced day, between appetizers, chocolate, bubbly bar, and dessert. Her knowledge of the menus and attention to detail in creating the day were amazing, especially since we had a Celiac/gluten free/gluten allergy person in our group. She knew the ingredients, arranged our last stop to be gluten free for everyone, and even brought a little box of crackers! Plus birthday candles for several of us celebrating. Plenty of food and either a tasting amount or 1/3-1/2 glass at the restaurants. Not a lot of walking, short distances between restaurants, definitely slow pace and mostly about the food and wine.

Happy Birthday to all of you! We are so pleased you enjoyed your time with Aniko and that we were able to plug in substitutes on our downtown experience of Napa with Gourmet Food & Wine Tours. We do promise at least 2.5 oz and I know at Compline the glasses are huge, so it looks like less. I actually measured because I thought the same thing! Thank you for supporting our small, eco minded business and for the time you took to write that wonderful review. We appreciate you and hope you will join us in Sonoma, Yount -Ville or Sausalito next time.

This was a fabulous tour! My family of 5 adults loved everything about it. Not only was the food (and wine) plentiful and delicious, they were willing and able to accommodate all of our food needs so easily. I don't eat fish, my one daughter is a vegetarian and another daughter has many food allergies. They were on top of all of it! Aniko was an amazing guide with tons of knowledge and stories. We could not have had more fun.

Love this review for all we do to ensure each of our guests has a great time. Thank you for expressing it the way you did. Aniko is the hostess with the mostest in Yountville and I will be sure to pass this on to her. Please see us again when in Wine Country or Sausalito in another of our fabulous locations. Merci! Renee

My husband and I took the tour with Elisabeth during our anniversary trip. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to my friends, family & strangers, alike. Elisabeth was super knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming. She even had great recommendations on what to do next during our weekend stay. I only wish we met her before we made reservations at other restaurants and wineries, but the good thing is that some of what she was recommending, we had already booked. The pairings at each restaurant were delicious and she provided just enough background on the wines and foods that we had, why they paired well together and how/where the wine was made. The walk around town was pleasant and she even talked about other restaurants in the area and gave their background, as we walked by. We learned a ton about Yountville while enjoying great food and wine. Would do this again!

This is a fantastic tour. Our guide was not only knowledgeable but engaging. I would add a 6th stop with a heavier food option since most of the stops have lighter foods. Or skip the candy stop and add a new stop. I really had a great time.

Excellent sampling of food and wine around Yountville in a small group. The tour included a variety of restaurants, each serving up a specialty. The wine pairings were spot on and portions were respectable without being excessive. Since it was a walking tour we got to stretch our legs between courses and experience the beautiful weather and surroundings of Northern California. Aniko was an excellent hostess. She had a comprehensive knowledge of the area and its history along with an ability to discuss the current trends in the local hospitality and entertainment industries. She was also a valuable resource for ideas about further exploration. The tour took about three hours, the walking was easy, and there was never a dull moment. We would take the tour again on a future visit.
