Your tour starts with pickup in a climate-controlled SUV or van from either the Greater Palm Springs area or the Visitor Center in the town of Joshua Tree. If you're coming from Palm Springs, your guide shares details about the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass wind and solar farms that you pass en route.
Once you arrive at Joshua Tree National Park (admission included), you'll see two deserts and the transition zone between the two ecosystems. Listen to informative commentary from your guide about the history of the area, the plants, and animals of the high desert, and the origins of the national park. Your guide provides a picnic lunch that you eat in a scenic location.
Follow your guide on a hike to Hidden Valley, which is known for its majestic rock formations. Stop at Key’s View Overlook, located at 5,185 feet (1,580 meters) in elevation, with views that extend to Mexico on a clear day.
At the end of the tour, return to your original departure point.
Be sure to bring sturdy walking shoes, sun protection, and comfortable clothing for warm and cool weather. It is recommended to dress in layers as desert temperatures can change quickly. Please note that temperatures in the park can be much cooler than in the low desert.
