The day begins with pickup at select Napa and Yountville hotels, or you are welcome to meet the group in Downtown Napa if staying elsewhere. Climb aboard a comfortable passenger van with your wine educator guide, and head to the first winery near opening time in the late morning. Whether you're a connoisseur or simply love to drink wine, ask all the questions you like throughout the day for a fun and educational experience.
Visit at least four different wineries, hand-picked to provide a diverse window into Napa's winemaking history and culture. The small group size of no more than eight people allows access to smaller, boutique wineries for a more intimate experience. In addition, visit several big-name estates where you can tour the production facilities and taste wines that appear on menus around the world. Follow the journey of the grape from soil to bottle as you learn about the production of regional varietals like cabernet sauvignon, merlot, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. If touring during harvest season, you may even get to participate in a classic grape stomp.
For lunch, indulge in in Napa's renowned culinary scene with gourmet sandwiches from Oakville Grocery to enjoy in the vineyards, or one of many fantastic winery restaurants that your guide can recommend (own expense). Please note that wine tasting fees are not included and typically range from $15-$25 per tasting (most wineries are happy to accommodate shared tastings).
