      "AWFUL!!!" and an absolute "RIP-OFF!"
I can only assume that the previous reviews were penned by the man himself. The tour was horrendous from start to finish (we actually couldn't finish the tour and were glad to escape after a couple of hours). The tour started off downtown where we were subjected to Doug's racist diatribe along with his questionable facts regarding LA. An example of this was that the population of downtown LA had increased from 22 million to 40 million during his lifetime and had caused all the problems he was now experiencing in his beloved city. The population of downtown LA is actually circa 4 million!!! His views regarding immigrants was downright shocking and he clearly was either oblivious to the fact that I was not Caucasian or he just didn't care. If seeing sights from a van with tinted windows is your thing with commentary that lacks any interesting or factual information then this is the tour for you. Personally I would suggest you hire a car and do it yourself. It's what we ended up doing and luckily we managed to salvage our day and it was also considerably cheaper and much more relaxing I could give a more in depth review of just how bad it was but quite frankly I'd rather sooner forget the whole experience. Finally I would add that after paying a substantial amount for the tour ($178) we were offered no refund despite cutting short the tour (we did come up with a plausible excuse as to not being able to continue). I think this just about sums up the professionalism of this outfit. PS We managed to hire a Ford Mustang for the day for $50 and fuel was $20 and not listening to racist drivel was priceless.

      Great tour of LA!
We had a wonderful time on the tour. Doug’s love for and knowledge of Los Angeles was amazing. We covered many areas of the city and particularly enjoyed going up into the areas inhabited by the rich and famous. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he very kindly dropped us off at our hotel at the end of the tour. We are happy to give him a very high recommendation. Thank you Doug!

This is an excellent tour - Doug was so knowledgable about L.A. having lived here his entire life. We hit the jackpot as we were his only clients for the day. We saw so much of L.A. in one day and he revealed all the juicy tidbits of L.A. history. This was a definite highlight of our short L.A. visit. Thanks so much Doug! G & J of Vancouver

      Great Tour with Doug
Lots of tours to choose from but glad we chose this one. Doug has so much knowledge of the city and plenty of stories. He was personable with everyone and being in a van instead of bus you’re able to see about everything. Enjoyed our visit. Thanks Doug!

City plus beaches tour was amazing!
Doug was a great tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the rich history L.A. has in the entertainment industry. The tour went off without a hitch. Much planning and thought went into such a thorough tour of these areas and ample time was spent exploring each area including 30 minute breaks to be dropped off and explore major attractions on foot at your own pace. I believe this tour to be of great value for the money as Doug has invaluable knowledge of the city.

Doug picked us up and shared information about the city. It was a great experience. He gave us really interesting history about everything we saw. He took us to where things took place as movie was shot. It was really interesting. Highly recommend this tour for anyone who's new to the area. Very proffesional.

      Thank you Doug!
Doug wasn’t feeling well that day but was on time, completely engaging with all of us and helped us all have an absolutely amazing experience. His knowledge of Hollywood old, past, present and future oozed our of him. It made it highly informative yet totally relaxed and enjoyable. When we come back to LA, we’ll without question see Doug again. We can not thank you enough for your sincerity in your passion of Hollywood and all it emcompasses and ability to keep it fun and relaxed. Exceeded My Expectations
I was in town for a conference and could only take a tour in the afternoon or evening. I wanted to see as much of LA as possible. This tour was even better than described! Doug was so knowledgeable and excited to show us his city. The tour bus was clean and comfortable. Doug would escort us to the site and make sure we knew when to be back at the bus. My favorite part was visiting and eating dinner at The Farmer’s Market. Doug even dropped us off at our hotel and kept up the tour until the very last minute. I feel that I saw more than I expected in this 5 hour tour. I would not hesitate to book a tour with Doug! A great value for the price!

Doug’s tour was amazing! I was only in LA for a few days for a conference so my sightseeing time was limited. I was able to see and learn so much from the tour. I would highly recommend his tours.

      Amazing, could not be better
From flexibly accomodating our times to taking a small group just for starters was great. Doug has a passion for his hometown, an amazing memory for facts and dates as well as massive experience in the life and areas of greater LA... comfortable transport... magnificent taste in music... no negatives... Thanks Doug!

      Fantastic tour
This was a great experience. Doug is such a great tour guide and a great guy as well. Took us all over LA and we saw so much in such a short time. What makes this tour special is that Doug is from the area and he knows so much about it. Doug gives personal stories as well as facts and it is so interesting. This was easily the best tour I have been on, and would definitely recommend it to anybody looking a great personal tour of LA Barry

Eye-opening, informative and a blast for my family visiting from out of town
Doug was very informative and the entire tour was a blast. Your wealth of knowledge and real-life experience of the area contributed to the overall ease of our group understanding the LA area and transformation of time from the early 1800's to now. Again, Doug; thanks for the tour. It was eye-opening, informative and a blast for my family visiting from out of town

With only our group 6 on the tour on this day it felt very VIP. Doug did everything he could to make this memorable. He spoke with great knowledge about the town he clearly loves. Great pace and time to explain the many stories behind the various landmarks/locations we visited. Highly recommended and well worth the money. Enjoy !!!!

Let me start by saying Doug is a nice enough guy. I went on the Night time tour on Saturday night I was the only person on the tour so he used his personal car to take me around. He tried to cancel the tour as I was the only customer, but I had made plans and only have limited time to go on a tour especially a night time tour. I made my reservation in advance on his system. You shouldn't take advance reservations if your going to cancel because you don't have enough people. All the sights we went by were really day time spots that had nothing special about them at night, just closed. I was looking for things about Los Angeles that I didn't know about that took place at night, that;s why I took the night time tour. Anyhow pretty disappointing right from the start. I don't think Doug wanted to be doing that tour with just one passenger and was waiting for it to end. If you are going to book with this company MAKE SURE they have other people on your tour.

My husband and I wanted to experience the city tour. We are so glad that we booked with Doug. We had an absolutely fantastic full day touring round and seeing all the sights, celebrity houses, walk of fame, sunset boulevard, muscle beach, Hollywood sign and so much more I can list. Doug picked us up from the hotel and immediately made such a wonderful impression. This guy is so knowledgeable, he has rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous, and has many stories to tell. Doug has an abundance of knowledge into the history of America and knows the LA area extremely well, he grew up there. There are other tours which you can take with other operators. Do NOT book with them, you will be making a big mistake. If you want to see LA and the sights you must book with Doug, why go for imitation when you can get the real deal. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, please look Hollywood Classic tours up, don't bother with the rest, we had such a good time I cannot stop raving about it.

My mom and I took the half day tour of LA & Hollywood and we were absolutely blown away. Doug is a fantastic tour guide, so incredibly knowledgeable about Los Angeles and the surrounding area. We could be doing something mundane like sitting at a traffic light and Doug would find an interesting tidbit to tell us about the building on the corner, making that moment memorable. It was so impressive.

We were fascinated listening to Doug tell us about the golden age of Hollywood, and how Los Angeles has recently been restoring old theaters & buildings, returning them to their former glory. It left us wanting to come back to LA once these transformations are complete and take another tour with Doug!

I would highly recommend Hollywood Classic Tours over any other "standard" tour of LA. Not only will you see all of the iconic Hollywood sights, but you will learn so much about the history of the city.

Note: I also wanted to point out that Doug kindly dropped us off at our hotel at the end of the tour which we appreciated so much.

We booked Doug via all the great reviews on Trip Advisor and they were not wrong! We had a brilliant time with Doug - it was just our family of five on the trip so we had Doug and his knowledge all to ourselves. We loved it - Doug really knows his home town and I loved all the little snippets of information that most guide books don't cover. We took in Hollywood's Walk of Fame, the Hollywood sign (from a distance, but still ..), some of the star's homes (what I thought was great about Doug was that he was not in any way intrusive - we drove by the homes and did not stop to gawp and take pictures - he was very respective that these were private homes and afforded them the privacy they want), Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive - gosh, loads of places. It was a brilliant half day out and I would highly, highly recommend Doug. It was brilliant xxxxx

Here's why HOLLYWOOD CLASSIC TOURS is the BEST tour of LA and Hollywood:
I came all the way from Duck Dynasty, Louisiana to tour Hollywood. When I saw that this tour is called Hollywood CLASSIC Tours, I knew it would be great, because it included the word "CLASSIC" in its name. After making a phone call to Doug (the owner/operator/tour-guide), I knew this would be the best tour in town because:
Doug was born Dec. 1952 in Los Angeles.
He has lived in LA his whole life.
His Dad was LA police on the street, keeping Doug informed of all happenings.
Doug worked 20 years in downtown LA writing the "Society" section and the "Obituaries" for Variety Newspaper, which kept him abreast of all important news.
He knows everyone and everything about LA
Coincidentally, I'm one month older than Doug.
We were both raised the same respectful way in the 50's and 60's when Hollywood was in its Heyday with clean-cut TV shows such as "I Love Lucy", "Superman", "Gunsmoke", "The Ed Sullivan Show", "Twilight Zone", and movies such as "The Ten Commandments", "To Kill A Mockingbird", "The Sound Of Music".
He's a one-man business...just him and his 10-seater van. Everyone got to know each other on the tour on a first-name friendly basis.
He is extremely knowledgeable, well-spoken, and entertaining, with lots of humor.
He let's you take several "breaks" for lunch, Greystone Gardens, photo ops, etc.
DON'T take the big-bus tours with other companies, where you put on a headset, and listen to a recording.
Take HOLLYWOOD CLASSIC TOURS with Doug. You'll love it, you'll laugh a lot, and you'll learn so much !
You can see the picture of our tour group dated Aug, 2, 2015 on the Hollywood Classic Tours Facebook Page, with the "HOLLYWOOD" sign in the background.
I'm the tall dude wearing a black LIVESTRONG shirt.

We had come from England on a family holiday and wanted to go on a tour of LA. We found hollywood classic tours brochure in our hotel lobby. We immediately called the number on brochure and the Doug Galloway immediately answered the phone and let us know that the tour was the next morning and that he would pick us up in the morning. This was very decent of him as we were at least half an hour from the centre. Doug made us feel very comfortable on the tour and showed us things that weren't being asked on the tour. I asked if we get a glimpse of David beckhams house. Although it was on a private street he showed us the exact place where it was and we were able to glimpse. We got to see the Hollywood sign front on, which was good for photos etc.
Overall I recommended this tour , ESPECIALLY WITH DOUG GALLOWAY, he is the best tour guide I have been on and overall this was the BEST CITY TOUR IN THE WORLD THAT I HAVE BEEN
    THANK YOU DOUG

From my very first contact with Doug through email, all I can say 10 out of 10 on everything! Doug is so engaging, knowledgeable and just a joy to be with. He has had one fascinating life and gives his all during the tour. I booked this tour as part of our holiday and for an early Christmas gift for my cousin and can honestly say this was a highlight of our trip. Doug has a real passion for is home town and music, which we found out with a great car play list so we soon turned the tour bus into a party bus of song!!! Would recommend this tour to all and will definitely book again if I get the opportunity to return just to see Doug! this tour really sets the standard on passion and knowledge.

I had the pleasure of taking this tour with Doug Galloway who is a true Native Angelino. He has a great sense of humor and really knows so many details about the area, old and new movies, the history of LA and its great theaters, stars' houses, and all the rest. You will be sooooooo glad you took this tour and left the driving to Doug! He's the man!

Doug Galloway is the king of Los Angeles and classic Hollywood trivia. A long time reporter for Variety has given him insight and facts about the entire area. There is exposure to a little bit of everything delivered in a clear, concise moving documentary. I would highly recommend this tour. We had a varied group of family members of all ages and there was something for everyone.
