Overview
Explore the San Diego coastline and the charming town of La Jolla via bicycle on this 2.5-hour cycling tour. Ride to the top of Mt Soledad with an experienced cycling guide to see panoramic views of La Jolla's beachside cliffs and Pacific Beach's surf breaks. This 10-mile (16-km) ride is suitable for most abilities, but some experience is recommended. Enter one of La Jolla's famed sea caves to learn about the protected shoreline's rich marine life from a naturalist guide. All biking equipment is provided, as well as snacks and water.
What to Expect
Make your way to the bike tour office in La Jolla to meet your guide and tour group. Get fitted for a Bianchi hybrid bike and a helmet, then listen to a short orientation and safety briefing. Climb aboard the bike shop's tour van for the short drive to the top of Mt Soledad, the region's highest coastal peak.

From the top of the mountain, enjoy the panoramic views of the coast and the city, then hop on your bike and start making your way down the mountain. At your own pace, ride about 3.5 miles (5.5 km) towards the coast through La Jolla's charming atmosphere and photo-worthy scenery.

Stop at seal beach to see the town's resident Harbor seals and check out Children's Pool. Stop at the bluffs overlooking La Jolla Cove and Ecological Reserve for some photo ops, then marvel at the variety of marine life found in the tidal pools.

At the coast, head for Sunny Jim's, the only one of the famous La Jolla sea caves that is accessible by land. Listen to a naturalist guide talk about the geology and ecology of the caves.

Back on your bike, pedal to Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, the area's two most popular surf breaks. After watching some surfers work their magic on the Pacific Ocean waves, ride back to your starting point on pleasant back roads through San Diego's quiet beach communities.

Your tour ends back at the bike shop after 2.5 hours.

Very fun!

Really fun to do. Our tourguide was Scotty. Very enthusiastic and funny guide. With the electric bike the hills are no problem. Great way to see this nice part of San Diego.

Great ride

Fantastic ride, loved seeing all of the marine life up close, I didn’t realize we would get to walk down the steps to the cave from the cave shop in La Jolla. Highly recommend!
