Overview

A scenic harbor in Southern California known as the “Whale Capital of the West,” Dana Point makes an ideal spot for spotting majestic marine animals. On a boat designed specifically for whale-watching, you’ll come face-to-face with the gentle giants on this exciting cruise off the coast. Listen to fascinating commentary from your captain, and keep an eye out for sea lions, dolphins, and sharks.

What to Expect
Climb aboard the Dana Pride to begin your wildlife tour of the Californian coast. Built exclusively for whale watchers, the sleek vessel features a viewing deck, a large salon, and a snack bar, so you’ll be able to observe the action in high style.

Head to the open-air deck to listen to the calls of seabirds while you keep an eye out for cresting whales. Or settle in below deck, where you can enjoy the view from a window as you sip a drink. Listen to the captain’s commentary about the variety of underwater wildlife you’ll encounter during the tour.

Thousands of dolphins, whales, sea lions, and sharks can be found year-round off the scenic coast of Orange County, so you’ll be guaranteed plenty of exciting sightings. Lean back and enjoy the abundant ocean life without leaving the comfort of the ship.

Very Enjoyable

The whole experience was great. The crew was friendly and helpful. The boat was not very crowded so plenty of room for all. We saw sea lions, dolphins, and one Minke whale on our 2 PM tour. We had really good weather so we were...More

Enjoyed the whale and dolphin tour

On the day we took this tour the ocean was a little rough and windy. We stopped three times and watched dolphins. We saw no whales on our trip that day. The boat was very nice.More

Fun trip! No whales, but lots of birds, dolphins, seals and sea lions!

This was a great excursion! Nice big boat, not overly crowded, helpful captain and naturalist. Unfortunately we didn't see any whales (not really the season for it) but TONS of dolphins swimming alongside the boat. Really enjoyable 2 hours!

I did not have the pleasure of seeing orcas during my trip. I wish I could have. They were out in abundance during summer. We are going into the season of humpback and grey whales in fall/winter. Hope this helps.

Honestly it really just varies. Each day, each trip are always different. During the winter months through early spring the gray whales are on their migration route to Baja and then back north. Blue whales are around in the... More
