Great sights, Poor communication from the guild.
Great sights, Poor communication from the guild.

We were picked up from the cruise port and promptly on our way to Petra. (Unfortunately, the car smelled like cigarette smoke) Our guide was on the phone while driving and stopped at a gift shop along the way for a photo opportunity on the roof of the store. After, taking a few photos which only took 5 minutes, we arrived back to the car waiting for our guide. After 15 minutes, there were other vehicles attempting to move out of the parking lot and the drivers were complaining to us to find our guide to move the vehicle. We attempted twice to find our guide in the store; a taxi driver even attempted to find our guide using the license plate. Finally after 35 minutes, our guide appeared and then we were on our way again to Petra. Our guide was o the phone once again and did received many calls. Just before the entrance to Petra, he pointed out that we must be at lunch at the restaurant at 1500. He then handed off us to another guide to tour Petra. Knowing we had only 2.5 hours to tour Petra, we toured the sights. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a nice fast tour. After we reached the end of Petra, our guide informed us that he is walking home and for us to walk back to the entrance on our own. After a brisk walk back to the entrance, we looked for our guide who was nowhere to be found. We then walked to the nearby restaurants were we were to have lunch which was included. We asked several people at several restaurants if they were going to host a tour group which all denied. Then we spotted our guide driving down the street and we caught up to him as he was parking the car. He guided us to a restaurant and the host of the restaurant seated us. We were immediately served a nice platter of assorted salads, hummus and peta bread. We were informed that drinks were not included, but didn’t hesitate to order a bottle of water especially after a hot day in Petra. Meanwhile, our guide was having lunch among other people who he knew. After we finished our platter we were informed by another guide that we must hurry to make time for the Wadi Rum. Just then a nice plate of skewed meats, fries and vegetables were served. Unfortunately, we were full from the platter as we thought that was the main lunch served. We tasted the main course but mostly left it behind as we were off to Wadi Rum. Our guide promptly drove us to Wadi Rum and turned us over to another guide who was waiting for us with his truck. Again, he had a lot of phone calls to answer along the way. We loaded ourselves into the back of the truck which had two bench seats. The guide drove us to Wadi Rum and occasionally stopped to point out the sights which we really appreciated. We stopped for a bathroom break and was served tea in a big tent. There were also survivors to purchase. Then we were off to the desert and stopped for another opportunity to hike up another rock for a view. We kindly informed him that we were not interested in hiking up the rock. As we sat in the truck, our guide sat with other guides socializing and having a conversation. We waited patiently. After 35 minutes of waiting, we expressed to our guide that we were concerned about time getting back to the ship as it was now getting dark. Our guide promptly drove us out of the park and to a gas station were our main guide was waiting for us. We thanked our Wadi Rum guide then unexpectedly our main guide told us to “give him a tip”. This was definitely unexpected as tipping generally occurs at the end of a tour. We tip as we were told because we did not want to not upset anyone. Then we were rapidly drive back to our ship while he was making and receiving phone calls. As we exited his vehicle, we thanked him for his time and gave him a tip.

Overall, we were very disappointed in the tour guide. He didn’t give us any information about the history of Jordon or what to be expected along the tour. He really never communicated which restaurant to meet after the Petra tour and what to expect for lunch. It would have been nice to chat with him and learn from him. He was too busy making and receiving phone calls. We did learn a lot from our guide in Petra but was taken by surprise that he left us so he could walk home. Our guide in Wadi Rum was nice but left us sitting in the back of his truck for 35 minutes while he took his break socializing with other tour guides. These excursions would have been exceptional if our guides took time to communicate during the tour.

Best Day Ever!!!!
Jul. 2018 • Friends
There are not enough descriptive words to describe our fantastic day trip to the Lost City of Petra and The Wadi Rum!
Our driver Abraham picked us up from our ship at 7am and drove us to Petra. He was an excellent driver and his car was air conditioned, clean and comfortable.
Mohamed, our guide in Petra was spoke excellent English and knew the history of the city.
At 1pm we had a delicious traditional Jordanian lunch at the Sandstone Restaurant included in our tour price. The service was excellent. Very friendly.
On our drive to the Wadi Rum, Abraham purchased a full watermelon from a roadside seller which we all shared during a break in the Wadi. He also shared his Arabian coffee with u
On arrival at the Wadi Rum, we transferred into the back of a covered 4x4 which was great fun.
Our young Bedouin driver was excellent driver and the scenery was spectacular.
Before leaving the Wadi for the drive back to the ship, we visited a Bedouin camp for tea and friendship.
We returned to our ship just after 7pm.
Everyone we came in contact with was extremely friendly, gracious and patient. We were never rushed. I can not recommend Jordan Daily tours highly enough. Thank You for the memories we will always cherish.
