      Great Tour
Very enjoyable tour. The truffle dog was gorgeous and found lots of truffles which were used to make the truffle pasta for lunch. One point to be aware of is whilst the meeting point for the tour is the Mushroom Museum you then drive in your own vehicle to the forest for the truffle hunting. We didn’t realize this nor did we have a car. Luckily others taking the tour were happy for us to travel in the car with them. After lunch you return to the museum for a guided tour which is included in the price.

      A Must!
We had wonderful and fulfilling experience with Nikos, a truffle hunter, and Mocha, a playful one-year old truffle hunting dog. Our children loved the experience of finding truffles in the wood with the Mocha! After the truffle hunt, we enjoyed a mushroom and truffle pasta dish expertly prepared on site and local wine. What an unforgettable experience for adults and teens alike!

We had a great time truffle hunting in Kalampaka, Greece. The trip was very informative, the area we walked in was beautiful. Later we sampled different truffles preserved in oil. A Chef prepared a delicious truffle risotto, we enjoyed our outdoor lunch in the field. We strongly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Meteora.

      Fun, unique and delicious
The truffle hunting dog was adorable and the chef-cooked truffle-mushroom-pasta meal eaten under the trees was great! Now I know where truffles come from.

      Very nice trip
It was a great experience, started by going to the forest, where we met the guide with his trained dog, He gave us some introduction about the truffle hunting, and explained the different types of truffles, Then we walked around and followed the dog and watched how they found and picked up the truffles, and the highlights was at the end where we finished by having an amazing picnic lunch there in the forest. It was very well organized! we highly recommend it..

A very interesting activity organized by the Natural History Museum of Meteora. It included Truffle Hunting with a trained dog and a very delicious lunch of Pasta made with Truffle and different types of Mushrooms prepared very professionally in the forest, as well as Mushroom Tasting. I highly recommend this activity when visiting the area.

      AMAZING EXPERIENCE
Μοναδικά συναρπαστική εμπειρία. θέλω να το ξαναζήσω. Η ξενάγηση από τον ίδιο τον διευθυντή του μουσείουταν καυαπληκτική It was a fantastic experience. The museum itself was superb, a real treasure for the area! The tour was given by the museum Manager himself who is also the founder of the museum. The truffle hunting in the forest was amazing while the lunch was delicious.

Without a doubt one of the best experiences in our lives.
We had the chance to participate in an amazing alternative activity during our trip to Meteora. Everything was beyond our expectations, from the truffle dog to the cooked truffle past dish in the forest. An unforgettable experience.

The experience of a life time
We had the best time, from the age of a year and a half to 70. We were a group of 13 of all ages and all of us didn't want it to end. Dorita the dog was so amazing getting us truffles from the ground. The lunch was cooked to perfection with the best white wine we have ever had. If you're in Meteora you must contact the museum and book this amazing day.

We had the best time with Dorita the dog. Looking for truffles in the morning at the beautiful forest. The pasta brunch was so delicious and special. The staff was so professional and knowledgeable, and so friendly. We also had an amazing time at the museum, especially the mushroom shop. Thank you for everything we really had a great time.

Fantastic truffle hunting tour and delicious truffle pasta
My husband and I loved the truffle hunting tour arranged through the Natural History Museum of Meteora & Mushroom Museum in Kalabaka. At the time we were there the tours were offered on a Sunday but you can check their website and contact them. We were thrilled it coincided with our visit and amazed at how many black truffles the dog found in a short amount of time in the forest. The truffle pasta dish we ate was divine and then back at the museum the staff give you a guided tour and you taste different mushrooms and can buy mushroom products. There were about 10 people on the tour. We had a car. We met at the museum at 9:45am and then drove to the forest about 15 minutes away. There were two other people on the tour that didn’t have a car but they went with others that did -we took one person and it was nice to chat with another participant. The three of us only spoke English but the staff member from the museum that attends interprets as the truffle hunter speaks Greek and talks about training the dog, how truffles grow, when etc. really interesting. Vasilious (the staff member from the museum) was really lovely and knowledgeable and we felt looked after on the tour and had great chats. Staff back at the museum are also great and helpful with questions about wildlife and mushrooms. She told us the name of the bear like animal we had seen and photographed in the forest a few weeks prior in Greece which was great to know what it was. We left the museum about 1:30pm. We thought it was good value at about 31euro per person. Highly recommended.

      Truffle Hunting
We booked a private group truffle hunting activity since there was nothing scheduled at the time we were in Kalambaka. It was all arranged through correspondence with Eleftheria from the Mushroom Museum. If you book this tour, please be aware that you must have your own transport because you will go to a place some 21 km outside of town. We did not know this at time of booking so we hired a taxi to take us there. Once there, we were met by Panagiotis, Evaggelia & their truffle hunting dog Dorita & dog in training Daria. Here you will see Dorita in action. Panagiotis, Evaggelia & Vasilis will explain where truffles grow & how Dorita was trained and answer all your questions. Afterwards, Chef Nikos will prepare a delectable pasta dish choc full of mushrooms & grated truffles just harvested & they have wine & assorted beverages. They lay down picnic blankets and enjoy this sumptuous mushroom feast under the shade of some trees. It’s a unique experience that doesn’t end there. Afterwards, drive back to the Mushroom Museum for a tour & sample some products.

Meeting the tour leaders and their dog was just the beginning. They explained the process and answered our questions while many in our group took time to pet and get close to the dog (Bento??) who was the star of the show. When we were in the search area he took off and found 3 truffles total, one was the size of a golf ball.

Once we finished finding truffles we went back to our start area and a picnic was setup. A large hanging skillet was setup to make our lunch which was very delicious! We had pasta with mushrooms topped by grated truffles. It was an amazing event.

For anyone who has the slightest interest in mushrooms, or tasty food, or experiencing Greek culture, this truffle hunting tour is a must when visiting Meteora. Nikos Pallas and his team from the Meteora Nature and Mushroom Museum who run this tour Are incredibly knowledgeable about Fungi, edible varieties, but also the role Fungi has in the ecosystem. The truffle dog Lara, and her handler in just one hour found one large truffle and six smaller ones. Then we were treated to a cooking lesson as many types of mushrooms were cooked with pasta and then finished off with grated truffle from those found on our tour. The food was delicious. We were incredibly impressed at how ethical this team are. They always cook more than is needed for the group so that they can take it back to town to feed those who are less fortunate. A tour worth doing on so many levels.

Watching the dog doing his job and being so happy at work was very enjoyable. The information that was given to us was very interesting and being able to see the entire process required to gather truffles gave me a greater understanding of cost. The mushroom past lunch and wine topped of our excursion into the world of truffle hunting.

We went on the truffle hunting tour as a part of a Gate 1 tour of Greece. The experience was phenomenal. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided great commentary. Also, the outdoor pasta cooking and demonstration was interactive and the food was delicious. Also, the highlight was our truffle hunting door Lara! It was incredible to see her go

Great experience. Very informative and enjoyable. The guides were well informed and excellent communicators. The star of the show was Berta whose hard work and finely tuned nose found the truffles.
The hunt was followed by a very tasty meal of mushroom pasta with cheese and truffle which was comparable to any dish in a good restaurant.
    Not to be missed.

We stopped at the Mushroom museum first, then we went to the forest to see the dog in action, hunting for truffles. She did not disappoint! She found many truffles. The dog was a well behaved beautiful dog who knew her job. After, we were treated to a fabulous lunch with pasta and mushrooms with our newly found black truffles. We were also served wine. I loved it. I highly recommend this adventure. It was easy walking, nothing strenuous.

It was amazing to watch doggie Benofra run back and forth searching and finding truffle mushrooms . It only takes her a few seconds to find one. Then only minutes later those truffles are turned into a delicious meal in front of your eyes. Truly impressive to see with your own eyes.
