          Great experience, highly recommended!
We took the 2 Days Tour from Athens to Meteora and Delphi. The tour was great! On the first day (at Meteora), we did the sunset tour. It was almost private as there were only us and another couple. Unfortunately, the weather was really bad (very foggy) so we couldn’t see anything much. The tour guide was really knowledgeable though, so we learnt lots of history. On the next day, the original plan was to go to Delphi since 9am. But our driver, Sotos, was really kind. He brought us up to the Meteora in the morning to see the view (as we couldn’t see much yesterday). He took us to lots of good spots and helped to take pictures for us. It was amazing! Highly recommended the tour! It’s well worth the money and it’s almost private!

Breathtaking experience and a wonderful guide
Truly an amazing experience. The hermit caves were an extremely interesting site and the view from the top of the monasteries (although quite the walk) were definitely worth going on this tour for. The highlight for us was definitely our guide Katerina. She shared with us her own personal stories about the sites and had such a deep connection with them which made the tour so much more personal. We also experienced heavy rain toward the end of the tour but katerina made sure we still had the best experience and got all the photos we wanted even if it meant her getting soaked in the rain for these. We could not have asked for a better guide and the trip was breathtaking, highly recommend.

          Helpful and wonderful
On that day, there was a 24 hour public transport strike in athena, we couldn't reach the meeting point easily. Fortunately the tour guide inform us beforehand and help us arrange private transfers. Very helpful even in extraordinary circumstances.

Loved Meteora Hiking Tour with a visit to the monasteries with Tour Guide Evan
First, this is the second Meteora tour we have taken with Visit Meteora Travel. This second tour was just as wonderful as our Meteora Sunset Tour. Evan, the tour guide, was warm, welcoming, and certainly an experienced hiker as well as knowledgeable about the local plants, fauna, and history of the Meteora monasteries. He has such an easy-going personality so it easy easy to converse with him and learn more about Meteora and Greece in general. The small group was the perfect size to ensure access to the tour guide and also allow interaction among the other guests. My wife thoroughly enjoyed our Meteora Hiking Tour with a visit to the monasteries!

Loved Meteora Sunset Tour and especially the Tour Guide Kate!!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Meteora Sunset Trip! Our experience included many sights and parts of Meteora that we simply could not have seen on our own. The small group size made it easy to interact with the other guests and move around the area easily. Plus, the tour was structured so that, although we were moving fast to see as much of the sights as possible, enough rest time was added so that we were not worn out. But, the best part of the tour was the tour guide, Kate. Kate speaks perfect English, was VERY knowledgeable about Meteora (she is a native to Kalabaka) and she had such a charming and cute personality and she was very humorous throughout the tour. Just loved Kate!!

A priceless experience that inspired my mopey teen
What a perfect day! My teen said it was the best day of his life and he could never have experienced such a an adventure without Christos and Kostas to teach us how to climb, use ropes, and scramble up and down the rock face. He will go back to school and talk so proudly about his adventure. And as a single mom, it was really terrific to have such engaged male guides—they made my son feel so cool and seen and they taught him about nature and geology and history. It was a very powerful experience…far more memorable and affordable than our usual therapy. The guides gave my kid ideas about what he wanted to do and how he wanted to interact with the world. He has mentioned all kinds of things he wants to study in school now—that never happened before. Finally….I’m a chubby mid 40s mom from a very flat state and the guides made me feel safe and capable as a first time climber. They worked to make this a manageable experience for an enthusiastic but definitely not athletic parent. And it was a great time for me too!

          Magnificent Meteora
What a fantastic tour! Our guide Katerina and our driver made this an interesting and fun tour. Katerina provided historical information on Meterora and the area. I particularly enjoyed the hermit caves and their history. I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing tour with the best tourguides
The tour was amazing! The view was great and we visited the most awesome monasteries. They take you to the most beautiful locations for pictures too! Our tourguides were Katerina and Dinos. We have never met such amazing people! If you have them as guides you will learn so much about the history of the place and have an amazing day! 10/10 reccomend this tour. The busride from Athens is long but definitely worth it. Also they get you some delicious lunch before you go into the mountains with the guides.

          Exceptional tour
We took the Meteora day trip from Athens. It was supposed to be by train, but flooding forced a change to the bus. The ride was 5 hours long but manageable with a rest and snack stop halfway. Just manage your water consumption timing accordingly! We split into smaller buses when we got there. Our guide, Katerina, was exceptional. She was very highly educated on the history of the area. She grew up there and was able to share personal experiences, which greatly enhanced the tour. She stood at the counter and helped everyone choose and order lunch. And when it poured rain the last hour of our tour, she still made sure we saw every photo stop. She even went out with those of us crazy enough to, and got soaking wet helping us take photos with no umbrella! Now that's dedication. She was genuinely invested in making sure we had the best possible experience. The only advice I would give on this tour is to be prepared to eat lunch fast, and try to get first in line. Otherwise, you may feel a bit rushed. But you can't really complain about that when the result is more time at the monasteries. The monasteries were stunning and did not disappoint. The longest climb was 147 steps, and it wasn't too bad if you go slowly. Read about the dress code. This tour included a visit to the hermits cave, which was a bonus and very interesting.

          From cataclysm to miracle
Th skies opened and what could have been a disaster was turned into a unique and marvellous experience as our guide Jim knows everything and share his knowledge with love of his job and country - he was so kind even lending me his mother’s anorak- The following day a lady guide was equally delightful and proud of the monasteries in a way that was heartfelt and authentic

Geology, nature, history - this tour has it all
Wonderful! Initially I wasn't sure about signing up for the 3 day Meteora and Delphi 3 day tour. After spending time on a family holiday in Crete I had sent my husband and daughter back home as I had more time off work. It was a chunk of money to spend out of my holiday budget, but was worth every penny. After arriving from Athens into Kalambaka and being dropped off at Hotel Kaikis (really friendly staff) I had enough time for an impromptu visit to the Natural history and mushroom museum. This is an old school museum with lots of stuffed animals, but it was excellently done with grouping representative of the local ecology. Worth checking out the videos of the local birds of prey. Upstairs are models of all the mushrooms found locally, again grouped by ecosystem. Also includes info about uses and mythology. Really enjoyable and a good set up for the hiking option I chose for day 2 of the tour. I got back in time for the sunset tour. We were in a small group which was good. The sunset tour included far more than I'd expected, with views of most of the monasteries, a history of the use of the unique geology by hermits leading eventually to the monasteries, a visit to one monastery, and an old church partially built out of a preexisting temple of Apollo (fascinating). The monasteries provide a wrap around skirt if it is needed (no charge). Sunset was partially obscured by a cloud, but the colours were lovely. Apostoles our tour guide was very knowledgeable, funny, and patient with me getting far too excited and wanting to ask all the questions in one go. Ares was our driver and I thought is was very nice that the god of battles took time out of his busy schedule to get us around safely. And I saw a tortoise! The next day in a different small group we had our hiking tour. I was a bit worried that my fitness wouldn't be good enough, but for the most part the walking was not too challenging although the temperature was on my side in April. The steps down later in the walk was the worst bit for me. Ares the driver got us to our location and Evan was our tour guide. He was very friendly and he was very knowledgeable about the geology and nature of the area. We saw many different orchids (April seems to be a good time for flowers). We also saw wild boar wallow (the stuffed boar in the museum was a good reference). This was a highlight. The area is truly beautiful and this is a great way to see it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We also saw the inside of another monastery. After being dropped off in Kalambaka I had lunch with one of my fellow trekkers and then back to my hotel for a well deserved rest that afternoon. The next day it was time for my transfer to Delphi via Thermopylae. Imagine my surprise when it was just me and my lovely driver Stolos. We chatted about families, life in Greece, and the botany and wildlife of the area. All whole driving through some of the most stunning mountain scenery I have ever seen. The trip was worth it just for this. Stolos told me there is a mushroom festival in September which is a great reason for me to plan a repeat trip! At Delphi I was given my instructions to get the KTel bus. I went to the museum, saw the main site and the temple of Athena at the bottom. I rushed a bit, but in reality I had plenty of time. The ruins and museum were beautiful, but I have to say the mountains are still my highlight of the day. Getting the bus was easy and it didn't take long to get back to Athens. Apologies to everyone's name that I've got wrong.

It was so great and priceless to be able to visit the monasteries with so few tourists so there was no issue with accessing the monasteries, all could be appreciate with enough time and the guide Katerina explained what to see before going inside. For example in Vaarlam, they told us to watch the video that explained the pulley system, which was great, as otherwise I would have probably missed it.

She was very friendly and gave us many information about the area she is from.

Very highly recommended tour and agency to do the tour with.

Try to do the sunset tour before as you'll visit the hermit caves and you'll understand better how it all begins.

        A magical place to visit.

As a mid-winter tour this was small-group, unhurried, thoroughly informative and responsive to the group's interests and requests. History of the stunning mountain scenery and the hermit history leading to mountaintop monasteries was given in a relaxed and clear way appropriate to the size of the group. The driver made sure we were all relaxed and photographed in the ochery. Three contrasting monasteries were visited before the morning train (and bigger numbers of tourists) arrived. Meteora is stunningly unique and this was an excellent and measured way to thoroughly enjoy the history, culture and scenery, with suggestions for post-tour meals and activities.

Although it was rainy and foggy, Katerina and Yarvos, went out of their way to make our tour an exceptional experience. We visited 3 monasteries and the hermit cave. They were sights not to be missed. Yarvos was a very careful and steady driver and Katerina was very knowledgeable regarding the history of the monasteries and the hermitage. She clearly loves the religion and history of these monasteries and it shows in her wonderful presentation. They both helped to take picture for us and made extra stops to ensure we got the best views of the area despite the weather. We would highly recommend taking this tour!

I booked a tour called "train to train" which was approximately 5 hours long and included visits to 3 monasteries (Great Meteoron, Varlaam and St George). Everything went smoothly, there were no unexpected stops, no shop visits etc. The van was comfortable, there was free cold water for everyone. The guide (Katerina) always asked if there are any questions and generally was very attentive.
I'd recommend to stay overnight in Kalambaka, rent a bike and enjoy the scenery once again, on your own.

We liked their Sunset Tour so much that we decided to book this one as well, and we definitely don't regret it. They picked us up from our hotel in a luxurious van, and we were the only two people in it. Usually that might not be great since you are forced to spend more time talking to the guide, but he was so knowledgeable, funny, and charismatic that we were glad we spent time with him and gave this great company some business in these difficult times. The tour is 4 hours long but it flew by very quickly, and yet we felt like we fully explored Great Meteoron, Varlaam, and Roussanou.

The tour guide and driver were very nice and professional. Tour guide was very informative and gave us many background information of the monasteries and the places. Driver was a professional photographer too! He helped us to take many good photos! Highly Recommended for this tour. However, if you travel in low seasons, you can book the tour when you arrive instead of booking online in advance, it is much cheaper.

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your positive experience with our tour guide and driver. We're delighted to hear that they were both friendly, professional, and that the tour guide provided you with valuable insights about the monasteries and the surrounding areas. It's great to know that the driver's photography skills added an extra dimension to your trip. We appreciate your recommendation for travelers during the low seasons. Booking on-site can indeed offer cost savings, and it's a helpful tip for budget-conscious travelers. We hope to welcome you back for another memorable tour in the future, and thank you for choosing our services. Your feedback is invaluable to us! Warm regards, George

Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Meteora to see the monasteries! This half day tour is from 9am to 1pm, including hotel pickup and drop off from anywhere in Kastriki or Kalabaka. They transport you in a small mini-bus / van, with 2 people from the company - a tour guide and a skilled bus driver (to navigate the mountain roads.)
Our tour guide, Jim, was great - so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. He gave tons of background information before each monastery visit (we visited 3 total.) He gave us plenty of time to take pictures and even stopped the bus a few times to pull over for picture time at certain viewpoints.
We had on average 45 minutes at each monastery which was plenty of time to explore on our own.
The bus provided bottled water as well which was a nice touch after all of the walking!
The only thing that we wish is that we would have had time to book other tours with them! They offer a sunset tour (3 to 8pm) and a hiking tour that sounded amazing.

The tour was great. Pickup was easy, and on time, and the journey to the monasteries was full of interesting information, history, and fun facts about the monasteries. At the monasteries, we were given enough time to explore the 3 monasteries we entered. We also stopped at quite a few great spots to take pictures of the monasteries we didn't enter. The driver was great, as was the tour guide. Would recommend!

While both the driver and the attendant were competent and professional, I was deeply disappointed in this excursion. The trip was described as a small group limited to 18 with a guide who would enter the monasteries and provide a guided tour. Neither of these were true. The group exceeded 23 therefore requiring a large bus. The bus attendant was not a qualified guide and therefore could not enter the monasteries to provide advertised information.

Brilliant half day Meteora tour experience with Visit Meteora. Our guide Tolis had in depth knowledge of the history of Meteora and the monasteries, and our driver Vangelis made the driving experience very smooth. I can't recommend Visit Meteora highly enough!
