- fernandomM6667WT0 contributionsAn unforgettable experienceI took the 2 days tour to Corcovado National Park and Carlos was the guide. I myself experienced one of the wildest adventures of my life, the heavy rain from a storm caused the trails to be muddy, wet and slippery. With that in place, Carlos provided the group the best experience, we walked through the primary and secondary forest of the Osa Peninsula. Even though it was hard to spot wildlife, we got to see a few. The hike was a challenge but totally rewarding. I'm coming back soon and without doubt I would take this your again!Written 22 November 2024
- T6726BZwhitneyc0 contributionsTruly magicalCorcovado National Park was an unforgettable adventure for my fiancé, another couple, and me! We loved exploring the wild surroundings, and the boat ride was a highlight—spotting dolphins was truly magical. Our two-day, one-night overnight trip was a fantastic choice, offering a unique experience away from typical tourist paths. Our guide was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable, ensuring we felt safe and engaged throughout the journey. The campsite was one of the best parts of our vacation, and we even saw howler monkeys and coatis! Highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature!Written 3 November 2024
- Y2135BMbarbarap0 contributionsIn to the deep of CorcovadoWe had a the most beautiful Corcovado trip with our awesome guide Aldo. He knew a lot about birds and plants we were seeing during the tour. In the end he took us to breathtaking waterfall where we could swim and it made nice ending to the whole expirience. Thank you Aldo! Barbara&AntoninWritten 16 October 2024
- hanskM9521EQ0 contributionsFull on rain forest experience!A full on rain forest experience. We did the Los Planes tour. It was pouring with rain when we were picked up so the guides decided to have a drink and wait it out. Then thunder and lightning came directly above us. It seemed they had to cancel because of safety. But at 8:00 it was safe enough so we decided to go. The rain kept going. But it made the experience extra special in our opinion. We waded through streams and crossed a river in a human chain. The forest was amazingly beautiful. The stops at Afredo's jungle house were special. We even saw a Fer-De-Lance snake there. Our guide Eduardo and his student Raquel did such a good job at guiding and educating us about the rain forest. Their knowledge, love and respect for the beautiful nature were inspiring. Thank you for an experience to remember!Written 9 September 2024
- V4984HYpeterk0 contributionsDon't miss it!At the end of three weeks staying in Costa Rica and having seen a lot of National Parks we planned to hike Corcovado. The best park - no doubt about that. Getting there by car is for European standards a little bit a challenge. Dirt Track for over an hour. You can get there as well by boat or plane. Probably the better choice. We stayed at the Fauna Lodge which belongs to the Top Trail Team. Excellent accomodation. We felt very very welcomed and very much looked after. The next three days we hiked Corcovado with our guide Michael. First day more or less around Sirena Lodge. Severall 2 hrs hikes and returns to the lodge. Lots of wildlife spotted, shown and described to us by Michael, which we never ever would have seen without a guide. Thank you Michael - you did a great job. The second half of the trip started at a different location (short trip by boat). Focus is more on hiking through primary rainforest than spotting animals. Pretty tough hiking - it's helpful to have a certain fitness. Nice surprise in the evening when we reached the accomodation. Nice Spot - you will love it. Next Mornig the final hike to a waterfall. Pretty tricky approach with Wow effect at the end. If you wanna swimm underneath a waterfall in the middle of nowhere with the jungle around you, then you wanne be here. The whole tour was very well organized by the Top Trail Team. I can highly recommend the Team and this trip to everybody who wants to see the nature in Costa Rica together wit a little bit of "hiking adventure".Written 1 September 2024
- 816lizah0 contributionsExcellent tour - lovely people and beautiful scenery!I can't recommend Top Trails Corcovado highly enough. They made everything seamless by arranging transportation around Drake Bay and to the park, making the experience hassle-free. The accommodation they provided was stunning, and our driver, Alfonso, was incredibly kind and welcoming. I booked the two-day hike with an overnight stay near Los Planes, and it was an incredible experience. Our guide, Andrey, was exceptional—his enthusiasm made the journey both fun and educational. I gained fascinating insights into the rainforest's flora and fauna, and we were fortunate enough to spot a variety of animals, including a tapir! The hike from San Pedrillo to Los Planes was challenging at times, with the heat, mud, and occasional steep inclines and declines, but the sense of adventure and solitude in the jungle was exhilarating. The scenery was breathtaking, especially the waterfall where we took a refreshing swim to cool off. Every meal was delicious and thoughtfully accommodated various food intolerances and preferences. Overall, it was an unforgettable two days, and a huge thank you to Andrey for being an outstanding guide!Written 28 August 2024
- H7448LQsarahk0 contributionsPure excitement and wonderWe have just had 3 days hiking and exploring the Cocovado National Park. It was a truely amazing experience. Our guide was Michael who did an excellent job looking after us, spotting animals and sharing his vast knowledge about the natural world and especially the animals, his good sense of humour and relaxed and positive attitude helped make us feel at ease in the unpredictable surroundings. The entire trip was very well organised, the food was excellent too. The second shelter we stayed at is owned by Top Trails and it was like walking into paradise after a long day if hiking. The team running the station are so welcoming and friendly. We would highly recommend this company they really are "top" as the name suggests! Thank you Micheal for a magical 3 days, we will never forget this adventure 🙏.Pura Vida. Sarah and Peter KraglWritten 27 August 2024

- FarAway7513110 contributionsBest hike everThis was the most exciting tour I have ever participated. A real jungle adventure. We were lucky enough to see many birds, ants, monkeys and even wild pigs, but the vegetation itself is amazing enough to give the full experience. Our tour guide, Ed guided us safely through the sometimes challenging trails and made sure that we enjoy our time. He is a true nature lover and we learned a lot about the flora and fauna of the rainforest. Many thanks for the day!Written 23 July 2024
- I1854EWlotteb0 contributionsGenuinely the best day ever!Today we took this very adventurous tour in Corcovado National Park with our tour guide Eduardo. It was very intense, we hiked through mud, rivers and across tree branches, and at the end we had a great lunch and an amazing swim underneath a breathtaking waterfall. Our tour guide was very kind and energetic, and knew a lot about all of the different animals and plants we encountered. We saw some rare birds and even a tapir, and had an interesting encounter with some spider monkeys ;). It was a very long and intense hike, and at the end we were exhausted but we all felt very grateful to have been able to see all that we did. Thank you Eduardo!Written 22 July 2024

- andreacR1881DE0 contributionsCorcovado overnight tourThe overnight tour in Corcovado (Sirena & San Pedrillo) was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we set foot in this pristine rainforest, we were immersed in the stunning beauty and incredible biodiversity that makes Corcovado National Park so unique. Our guide, Daniel, was knowledgeable and a blast to be around, making the experience even more enjoyable. We had the best group and I got to make great friends on the trip. The hike through the dense jungle was beautiful and challenging, yet rewarding. The sounds of the jungle at night are something that will stay with us forever. The accommodations were great, and the food provided was delicious and plentiful. We had a great time with Capi and Fabiola.Written 9 July 2024
- Mark V0 contributionsGreat adventure in the jungle! We went with 4 friends on this 2 day tour. First with the boat from drake down to la sirena. Here we saw a lot of animals. We then had a really good lunch and went with the boat back up to san pedrillo. There we saw some crocodiles and then started the hike. In san pedrillo focus is really on hiking through the old woods, not so much on the animals as in the morning in la sirena. It was a fun hike with some slippery tracks. Did it on my sneakers but expect to slide a lot. It feels rewarding when you arrive at the ranger station. We had a warm welcome from Capi en Fabi. Had a really fun night there with good vibes. Next morning nice breakfast again and together with tourguide Daniel went hiking again for approximately 3 hours to the waterfall. Also this was a fun and challenging experience and felt rewarding when you arrive at the waterfall. Daniel was a really cool tour guide, also Michael who wet as well! Overall was a great tour and unforgettable experience.Written 8 July 2024
- CliffMore0 contributionsAdventure and luxurious Fauna & FloraSerina station is amazing. We have been so lucky to see all those amazing wild animals. The jungle hike to and from San pedrillo is quiet hard with the heat and humidity, but it is certainly worth it. A luxurious old forest with huuugge trees.. I loved the hike although we had rain and quiet a lot mud. San Pedrilo station is way more luxurious than you would expect. Very nice but you're in the jungle, so shower outside.Written 17 June 2024
- eliassix0 contributionsGreat Experience on Two Full-Day ToursWe did two full-day tours organized by Top Trails Corcovado (a snorkeling tour to Isla del Caño and a private guided hike in Corcovado NP). Both days were great experiences and the organization was top-notch. Communication with the team was excellent, both via email in advance and in person in their office. They listened to our request for a slow guided hike in Corcovado and made sure our guide was notified. On both activities, the boat picked us up at our camp instead of making us walk an hour to the official starting point in Agujitas de Drake. It is worth mentioning that Top Trails was recommended to us by a friend, and we are very grateful for that recommendation. However, we did find that the tour organizer may have little influence on your experience, as all tour operators seem to charge similar prices and guests from different tour operators may be mixed up. Nonetheless, we were very satisfied with Top Trails Corcovado and have no problem recommending them to anyone who wants to get the most out of his/her Corcovado adventure.Written 5 June 2024

When I enquired about the possibility to visit Corcovado, I was told there was a Sirena - San Pedrillo tour on the day we wanted to go. When we arrived at La Sirena, I became clear to us that we were part of a group doing the overnight tour and that we would change group during lunch in the San Pedrillo area.
We started with an extensive safety briefing, mostly irrelevant for our part of the tour and in Spanish and English, so it took almost half an hour before we started walking. Our guide was not so positive about the La Sirena area as it is secundairy forest. Although it's easier to spot animals in this part of Corcovado, you can spot animals everywhere in Costa Rica, so to his opinion, San Pedrillo is by far the better part of Corcovado and in particular the part where we were not going (but the rest of the group would be going to spend the night). We stayed close to La Serina station, and were standing still most of the time (more than we were walking) because our guide was explaining a lot about Costa Rica. Interesting, but we were here to spot animals and rather have the stories for lunch. Our guide did not put a lot of effort in spotting animals. When we say squirrel monkeys, I was still trying to get a good picture when the guide was already continuing his way. We did not see a lot of a animals, alltough one of the few animals we say was the jackpot: a tapir.
In San Pedrillo we walked for half an hour and our guide obviously felt more at home here. We had lunch at a beautifull place in the forest (which is indeed way more beautifull than La Sirena) and changed groups. We had to wait again until the other group had lunch and we continued a couple of more hours trekking in the coastal area north of San Pedrillo (which seems to be outside the park, the trail is on maps.me). This group was doing the La Sirena-San Pedrillo day tour, so we did not understand why we did not join this group in the first place. They also say more animals in La Sirena, confirming out feeling we did not have the right guide for this part of Corcovado.
Summarized, I would not recommend to do this La Sirena - San Pedrillo tour if not in one group for all day.Top Trails should not have stated they have group doing this tour and put us in another group. Charly is an excellent guide for San Pedrillo, but La Sirena is not his thing and that's not what I would expect when paying such huge amounts of money for a guided walk.

Hello! We regret your comment for several points that I will explain to you:
1) The talk given by the guide is very important to know what will be done on the tour and the safety rules, because I assure you that if they do not explain it to you and a snake bites you, you will be less happy. unfortunately people ignore the danger. You are the first person to complain about it.
2) all the time we emphasize that you do not have expectations to see animals, because the same thing happens, you are saying that you saw the tapir, monkeys and other species and according to you you did not see many animals, Corcovado handles an erroneous marketing about animals and people leave disappointed, you should feel very happy to have seen a tapir in the rainy season, however you do not appreciate it, that is why we emphasize that you should not have expectations with animals. What kind of animal did you want to see? The tapir is the most exotic of the species there and many people visit Corcovado to see it. This is the problem of expectations that the guide names so much
3) Both groups spoke Spanish and English, we sent you with the guide who has the best English. the time you had to wait for lunch was 10 minutes.
4) Your guide was Carlos, the best guide we have, he showed you the animals that appeared along the way, if you only want to see animals and not enjoy such a natural environment, he guaranteed that you will enjoy much more in a zoo!
Anyway, thanks for the comment, we always take them to try to improve.

The tour was great. We were a small group, only 4 people, a Spanish couple as well and an Italian. It is appreciated that they work in small groups so the walk is more dynamic. Our guide Nelly made the experience very enjoyable since she not only explained all the information about the animals and the forest to us, but also interacted with the group. It is clear that he is a guide with a lot of experience and knowledge about Corcovado.
As for the itinerary, it was very interesting to get to know the different types of landscapes in the park, seeing the largest number of animals in Sirena and also the most lush areas of the San Pedrillo forest. We were also able to visit a small waterfall on a river at the end of the tour.
The food they gave us at Sirena 10/10. A very generous portion of a typical Costa Rican dish, varied, satisfying and very delicious.
Very good experience overall. The beautiful landscapes, it is very exciting to see so many animals in their natural habitat. A unique opportunity. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing time! It was one of the best days we had on our trip to Drake Bay! Ed was an amazing guide! He had so much knowledge about all of the animals and wildlife in the rainforest. He also made the day so much fun and adventurous! We recommend doing Sirena and San Pedrillo so you can see both the primary and secondary rainforest!

Fantastic experience in the Corcovado National Park. We are a group of 5 girls and we did the full day at Sirena + San Pedrillo station. The 5 of us spent the entire day with our guide Nelly. Nelly is excellent, very kind and very professional, you can tell that she knows the animals and the environment very well and that she is passionate about her work. With her we were able to see many animals at the mermaid station, both mammals and many birds. We were even able to see a tapir that we were very excited about. He also gave us a lot of information about the forest itself, the animals that live there and medicinal plants. An incredible guide! As for the tour, at 6am you take the boat in Drake Bay, and you arrive in Corcovado after 1h15min. First you visit Sirena where you see many animals and eat there at the ranger station. Very delicious typical lunch! Around 12:00 pm you take the boat again to San Pedrillo station. There you take a short walk to a waterfall and have time to bathe in the river and at 3pm you return to Drake. The Sirena station was super good and met expectations. San Pedrillo is also beautiful and bathing in the waterfall in the river is great but it is true that we would have liked the walk to be a little longer. 100% recommended experience!

Because La Sirena was full, they reccomended us to do a daytour to San Pedrillo. Because we were traveling with 2 young kids( 2&4) they reccomended t so a private tour. Me, my wife and kids loved every minute of it! San Pedrillo is a beautiful wild rainforest area. We saw plenty of monkey's, lizards and birds, and our guide Ed(Eduardo) was really helpful, a good spotter and told us a lot about nature, Corcovado and Costa Rica. But the most important was that he was really good and nice with the kids and made sure they had a great day as well.

The best plan of the entire trip in Costa Rica. The parks are very well maintained. The well-being of the animals is prioritized. Our guide was Aldo, passionate about nature, he taught us many things and made the experience even better. I would totally recommend it. We were not able to spend the night due to lack of time in the travel itinerary, if I had had time I would extend my time in this area, it is incredible.
