Pictures don’t do it justice, even though the pictures are still amazing. Jordan was the best host. He was very chatty, made sure everyone had plenty of water and A/C was set comfortably. We made plenty of stops on the way there and back so enough time to use the restroom, get snacks and drinks, and souvenirs. He was very knowledgable and described the entire environment from leaving the Sonoran Desert all the way to the Grand Canyon and back through Sedona - I learned a lot and enjoyed the mini quiz! - kimberlyk560 contributionsVery professional, Customer Service is AmazingWe booked a tour to pick us up from our hotel and travel to Sedona then on to the Grand Canyon. The high country experienced bad weather the night before our tour and the roads were closed. This company, Detours American West, was amazing throughout the entire experience. They were in constant contact to inform me of the potential road closure and handled everything very professionally. They offered other options but I had to leave the area to return home. I am very pleased with my experience with this company. I will be back to book again when the weather will cooperate.Written 16 March 2025
- Journey7488630 contributionsGreat Day with DETOURSour group of 3 was part of a 12 person tour led by our leader Han. We had a prompt pickup at 6am from a close-by meeting place that provided free parking, and immediately got a good feeling about Han. The ride up to the Canyon in a comfortable van included a few well placed stops for bathroom, food, and a few minutes on your feet. At the Canyon, we went to a few lookout points, including one by the El Tovar, and spent the better part of 3 hours on our own at the park. As planned on the way back we stopped in Sedona after driving through Oak Creek Canyon. We were back at our dropoff point by 8pm, as planned. Han created a great day for us - informing, entertaining, encouraging group communication throughout so we soon felt more like one big group than all individuals. Even took a group picture with him at Bell Rock. He kept our attention on the last leg of the drive back by giving us a fun ""quiz" of the different facts he provided for us on the way up. It may very well be the only time we get to the Canyon, and we are thankful we were able to spend the day with DETOURS and Han. Cheers to a great day!Written 15 March 2025

This is a great trip that covers a lot of sights including the Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon, Glen Canyon Dam and the Cameron Trading Post. It is truly a full day adventure being picked up around 5am (depending where you are in the city) and being dropped off around 7.30pm. Our guide Mark Lane was very knowledgeable, friendly and an excellent guide to have.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day trip to Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. The sights were breathtaking! Mark, our tour guide, was kind, knowledgeable, and made sure we captured great photos. The van was very nice! Large windows for optimal photos, seats reclined, there were outlets for phone charging, and Mark’s playlist kept me singing along.
Highly recommend!

How to review?
An early morning start at 0525 to get the small bus (12 seater) to travel up to Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon was met with a very happy and incredibly talkative driver (Mark) for the longish drive up. Stopped for breakfast (McDonald's: not great) bad onwards to Horseshoe Bend. A magnificent view which totally matches the views you see in the internet.
Then lunch at a chicken place in Paige and onwards to upper Antelope Canyon. Navajo tube operates the tours and after a wee bouncy ride in the back of a pickup you are guided through the canyon.
It is totally as spectacular as the pictures portray.
Amazing. Guides help you with pictures and even take some with your phone and they have the experience to do so, so let them.
Then the LONG drive back to phoenix. 4 hours approximately. The roads are got great, bouncy, and uneven in places.
But all in, the sights are worth it.

This is one of the three tour groups we joined Detour. We have done:
Sedona Red Rocks and the Grand Canyon. Of the three tours, two were guided by Derek (not sure if he is still within the company). He was an amazing tour guide who was knowledgeable, entertaining and most importantly interested and passionate about being a tour guide. Cannot thank him more than enough. The other guide who was an older gentleman, he was nice but less interested being there and cold.

Detours are a very thoughtful agency. They contact and make sure all details and arrangements are at your best convenience. All information comes when you need it and they ask for your confirmation so they are sure you got it.
If you only have a day to do this it is the best way. It’s a long day as we started early (I was picked at 4:00 am) and we finished at 9:00 pm. But totally worth it.
Our guide was Mark, very nice and knowledgeable and always cool and talkative. Very experienced and helpful.
We started with a nice visit to Horseshoe Bend with plenty of time (around 1 hour) to walk (15m easy walk) plus take all the photos we want.
The weather was a bit unstable, what could have compromised our visit to Antelope Canyon, but Mark assured us that if that happened we would do something interesting too. Thank God the weather became perfect by the time we arrived to Antelope Canyon (around 11:30 am).
Tip: if you go on your own, be sure to arrive to Antelope between 11:00 am and 13:00 pm to get the light from above. Makes a big difference on the pictures you take!!! Detours always books that slot. The guides on Antelope are great and local so they explain and help you greatly on your visit and photography. Our was Cedric and he was always very happy to show us the best places for getting the best pics and also to take our photos.
Mark also showed us other features on our way up and down from Antelope. They were really nice additions: the Street Art on the way and a very big and tall Dam and the beginning of the Grand Canyon on the way back.
Breakfast at MacDonalds and lunch at a Chicken Restaurant was fine. Always we were given plenty of water, so don’t need to bring yours.
It was THE perfect DAY. One that I will never forget because you can never ever forget Antelope Canyon! Cheers!

My wife and I took the one-day Antelope Canyon tour from Scottsdale, AZ in February 2023 and it was fantastic! Although the car ride was long, our guide Derek did a great job at driving (the drive to and from Page isn't a particularly easy one) and kept the tour interesting by talking about the region's history and landscape. He also made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the trip while keeping us on schedule. This included regular washroom breaks and also stops for breakfast and lunch (both included in the price of the tour).
The attractions themselves were amazing. Horseshoe Bend was so beautiful and Derek let us know the best spots for pictures and even took a few for us. Antelope Canyon was even more incredible. The tour inside Lower Antelope Canyon lasted just over an hour and was conducted by Ian, a Navajo tour guide from Dixie's Lower Antelope Canyon Tours. He was a fantastic tour guide. He took the time to tell us about the region’s historical significance and development and answered all of our questions. He also took many incredible photos for us. He knew exactly where to take photos from and which settings to use to get the best results.
This tour was the highlight our trip to Arizona. It was very fun and memorable!

We had a fantastic trip to Lower Antelope Canyon with Detours West! Of course the Canyon is beautiful, but the trip included so much more! We had a wonderful tour guide who kept us engaged during the drive with information about Native American culture and the Canyon. We stopped at Horse Shoe Bend, an Indian Trading Post and had a delicious lunch in Paige, AZ! Driving back to Phoenix, just outside of Sedona, we saw the most beautiful sunset we have ever seen. Such a great day!

What we thought was going to be the highlight of our vacation ended up being the low point. We were up at 4:30am ready for a 5:00am departure only to arrive 2 hours early at our destination. Understandably extra travel time needs to be built in BUT they should have a contingency if you are on time as we were. We ended up spending time in a Walmart. When we went back to check in at Antelope Canyon, they canceled all tours for remainder of day due to weather. The most disappointing aspect of this was that i called a few days earlier with weather concerns asking to change our date and was assured that it would be fine. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory at 2:42 that morning. This should be something that is checked before picking up clients. The remainder of the day was just awful. The winds were blowing the sand so hard it physically hurt to get out of the car. See attached photo. The drive back was dangerous and the sights we were driven to were basically a drive by. Out of a 13 hour day, we spent 10 hours in the car. I was hoping a company with such good reviews would stand by their reputation and make their customers happy. I was not asking to be refunded any of the expenses of tour guide, gas etc and was only hoping for a fair refund. What they offered was a token and did not make me feel they cared. I chose this company because they seemed like a small company who truly cared about their customers when in actuality they treat you as a transaction. It shows a lot about a company how they handle things when the day does not go as planned. Please know you are taking a risk when booking these adventures.

Hello Ms. Dulac,
We understand that you did not end up with the experience that you expected. After years of touring Antelope Canyon, the cancellation that you experienced was very difficult to anticipate. Rain and snow are the most common factors for a cancellation, by far. We would never cancel this tour for wind, because in our experience, wind has never been a reason that Antelope Canyon has cancelled their tours. When you called a few days before your tour to inquire about the weather, there were no signs that Antelope could be canceled, or any signs that a windstorm was going to happen, as we pay very close attention to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasts.
We do thank you for warning us that you would be issuing a negative review if we did not refund enough of your tour price. We did refund more than was required, in the face of this rare wind cancellation.
Thank you,
Management

I can’t say enough positives about this trip! We were picked up at our hotel at 4am, took the 3 hour drive north. Our guide was super friendly and talked most of the way, giving us tons of little history lessons as we drove. We stopped for breakfast in Flagstaff and then continued north. Our stops included Horseshoe bend, Glen Canyon Damn, Upper Antelope canyon (a stop for lunch, which is included in the tour fee) and then the Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo reservation. Each stop was absolutely the perfect amount of time to take photos and take in the beauty of the landscape. I never would have taken this trip if I would have had to drive my family myself, so to me, the cost and the knowledge from our guide made it absolutely worth the cost.

1) We want to schedule PRIVATE TOUR either May 7 or May 8...2 adults...what is cost?
2) We want to stay at The W Hotel Scottsdale, do you provide hotel pickup and return?

We we’re at an air bnb and had to walk to the Hilton garden inn. There were a couple of options for pick up in downtown Phoenix. The company would be best to get the current options.
Written 13 February 2020
Hello, what hotels are on the “pick up” list? Or any recommendations for nice, family friendly hotel? Thanks!
Written 15 January 2020
Around what time do we usually head back? What do we see along the way? Also no need to apply for permit to enter into Antelope Canyon right?
Written 23 February 2019
We headed back around 6pm so we arrived back in Phoenix around 9:30pm. The Antelope Canyon entrance fee and permit is included in the tour so you don't need to do anything.
