Incredible experience in wetlands tour from port
We had an unforgettable visit to iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site covering an area of 239,566 ha, with a wide range of pristine marine, coastal, wetland, estuarine, and terrestrial environments. Pickup at the port was easy - they were waiting as we left the ship. We visited the Crocodile centre where we saw many types of crocodiles and even held a baby. Then, we took a jetty ride along Lake St. Lucia to look for hippos. They did not disappoint! Next we enjoyed the town of St. Lucia, which is peppered with warning signs about the hippos who roam the streets at night. I highly recommend Tim Brown tours for your Durban or Richard’s Bay experience.

I am so happy I did this!
I’m so happy I did this! It was an experience of a lifetime. I did the Hluhluwe 4 day safari plus the St. Lucia wetlands. My tour guide, Sibo, was not only an absolute joy to be with, but he has an encyclopedic knowledge of everything that pertains to the fauna and flora of that area. He answered all my questions and shared a lot of really interesting anecdotes. He was excellent at locating animals and then maximizing my view of them. He knew how to get up close while keeping me perfectly safe. Tim Brown Tours is a great company and Tim was excellent at communication. He put a lot of effort into my special needs as well. The accommodation and food at the Bonamanzi Game Reserve were of the highest quality and the staff went above and beyond to please. As a solo traveler in my mid-60s, I had absolutely no concerns and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. I recommend this company very highly.

          Perfect Wildlife day in Durban
We already booked a tour 2 years ago and decided to do the tour again with Tim Brown Tours. We had a perfect day and a very good Guide, who tells interesting facts about Durban, the Zulu culture and the wildlife. We would do the same tour every time when we are in Durban again.

          Outstanding in every way
Outstanding in every respect. The trip was booked a few months ago following a recommendation from a South African contact. The company were very easy to deal with and responded promptly to all my questions and the day went exactly as expected. A lot of travel is involved from Durban to the Battlefields but my incredibly well read , personable and very enthusiastic guide ensured that the time was not wasted. I had done quite bit of background reading but Sheldon my guide was clearly a serious expert. He went out of his way to ensure that the day was one I will never forget. The highlight of my first visit to South Africa Apart from his historical knowledge he also answered all my questions on the flora , fauna , culture and politics of his country in a very even handed manner. He gave me a real insight into Natal and its people. I ham hopeful that I will return to visit Kruger National Park and/or the Anglo- Boer battlefields. Tim Brown Tours with Sheldon as guide will be my first choice. Ian Wilkinson, County Durham, UK

Super safari experience in KwaZulu Natal.
We booked this trip and added a couple of additional open vehicle drives as well. Sheldon, our driver and guide was full of interesting information on the region and the wildlife and couldn't have been more accommodating over the 3 days, visiting Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park as well as iSimangaliso Wetland Park. We stayed at the very pleasant Bonamanzi Game Reserve and had a chance to walk some of the tracks there in search of some of the wildlife - Sheldon even took us for an evening game drive while there also. Our open vehicle driver, Mzoe, was great fun and really knowledgeable. While sadly we didn't meet up with a leopard, we were lucky enough to get up close to the rest of the Big 5, as well as baboons, monkeys, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, vultures, various antelopes and, at the wetlands, hippos and crocs. Tim was also really helpful and proactive ahead of the trip to ensure everything went to plan - a great experience.

Super trip through Sani Pass up to Lesotho.
Amazing views as you start at Underberg and climb through Sani Pass and ultimately across the Lesotho border. The climb in the 4x4 vehicle is breathtaking and gives a great sense of the diversity of the Drakensbergs as you pass from one environment to the next. Lunch in Africa's highest pub along with the insights into life in Lesotho are a bonus. Tim was really helpful and proactive in advance of the trip and Sibo, our driver up to Underberg was great as well.

Tim Brown 3 Day Durban Safari Tours - an amazing experience
“Tim, we can’t thank you enough for providing such an amazing trip” Tim organised a 3 day tour to fit in with our cruise schedule, picking us up from the port in Durban and returning us to Durban Airport for a flight to Cape Town to rejoin our ship. He planned a wonderful itinerary and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience. Our 3 night stay at Hilltop Camp within Hluhluwe Park was fantastic, with comfortable rooms, good food and amazing views but the highlight of course was seeing the animals. Included in our tour was a visit to the Emdoneni Wild Cat Project and a cruise through the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park at St Lucia to see the Hippos and Nile Crocodile We highly recommend Tim Brown

Bucket list trip to see the Big 5
Tim setup a custom tour for us that fit in with the schedule of our cruise ship including flights and transfers and accommodation and activities. Tim is the ultimate professional. Nothing was too much for him. Everything was handled exceptionally well. We stayed at Hilltop inside the Hluhluwe game reserve and went on outings to see hippos in St Lucia and to a cheetah rehabilitation program. The game drives were an absolute highlight. We got to see all the Big 5 and so much more besides. Hilltop is right in the middle of the action with monkeys visiting your cabin and stealing your sugar and elephants and warthogs and cape buffalo right outside the back door of the dining room. Truly spectacular. And the food there was fantastic. This was an unforgettable trip that totally exceeded our expectations.

          Fabulous
Tim Brown organised a 3 night 4 day tour for us of Hluhluwe Imfolozi plus a visit to St Lucia and Isimagaliso Wetland Park. We stayed at Hilltop Camp which was beautiful. Animals like Zebra, Impala, Duiker, samango and vervet monkeys are actually in and around the chalets. Sebo, our guide went out of his way to make sure we saw as many animals possible. It's hard to pick a highlight because there were so many. We saw a pack of painted dogs more than once very close. We saw many rhinos which in itself is a marvel. One very emotional moment was coming across a female rhino feeding her baby in the middle of the road. We saw, Elephant, Buffalo, Nyala, Kudu, numerous comical Warthogs and Wildebeest. Special request from us was a tortoise, Chameleon and a dung beetle. We were not disappointed as we saw more than one of each. On our 3rd day we decided to go to the Imfolozi side of the Park. Here we saw 7 Cheetah which was such a thrill. 4 of them were just lying in the road. It was a long day but Sebo still came to find us after we got back because there was a sighting of lions. We raced off again and much to our delight we saw two lion cubs. On the open night drive organised by Hilltop we saw a herd of giraffe, Elephants and a Hyena. The whole tour was the most wonderful and well coordinated experience and we can't recommend it more highly. Our guide, Sebo was knowledgeable and a very careful driver. Memories we will treasure for a lifetime.

          Second visit, now with family
Second time booking with Tim Brown Tours. Went solo the first time which was great. Brought my wife and son this time. Sibo was fantastic again, careful, efficient and knowledgable. Happy to be back and see many animals even a water monitor and riverboks. Amazing number of Rhinos. The experience was formative for my 11 year old who wants to spend “three more weeks on Safari”! Thank you Tim and Sibo!

          Brilliant day!
A great day in Hluhluwe. Our guide Sibo was excellent. We were delayed getting off the cruise ship but communication was excellent with a WhatsApp group set up so everyone knew what was happening. Sibo then altered the tour to fit in with what we wanted because of the reduced time available. The actual trip round the park in an open jeep was tremendous with loads of different animals seen.Highly recommended!

Well organised tour which for us included also visiting the big cat sanctuary and the hippo river cruise. Sibo, our guide is a pleasant and intelligent man who ultimately made the safari special.

We had a wonderful time on our tour of Hluhluwe! Our guide, Sibo, was amazing, friendly, and very knowledgeable on the area. We got to see elephants, a rhino, giraffes, impalas, warthogs, buffalo, and zebras. Sibo was very good at spotting animals from a distance and pointing them out. He also made sure to get as close as was safe to any animals near the road. I felt very safe the entire time, while also having a wonderful view of the various animals and getting great photos.

Sibo picked us up on time right at our AirBnB, which was very convenient! The drive was easy, comfortable, and safe, and then we got to spend all day at the reserve, with a break at the hilltop for lunch, where we got to eat with some incredible views in front of us.

I would highly recommend Tim Brown Tours for anyone looking to see Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve during their stay in South Africa!!

"This safari was an unforgettable experience! The tour guide and driver were very genuine, personable, knowledgeable, and hilarious. Our family were staying in Durban and the driver was able to pick us up from our Airbnb in a very clean 13-person van. He even had a cooler for extra water. The entire experience we felt very safe with the excellent door to door service. Highly recommend the open air vehicle for the full experience. The guide was a very intelligent tracker and was able to get track elephants to the point where they crossed right in front of us. Our family highly recommends this specific tour! Hopefully you can get Nicholas from Tim Brown tours for the Hluhluwe/Imfoloze Game reserve."

An incredible day adventure in Hluhluwe. Despite not seeing all the big 5 on that day, we experience a great trip through the park seeing Impalas, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, elephant, giraffe, warthog, brown snake eagle and even a White Rhino! Our lovely guide drove through the park giving facts and indication about wildlife, but also had the best eye to spot the animals who sometimes play hide and seek. Take a pair of binoculars if you can, a bottle of water and some sunscreen in order to make the most of it. Tim Brown team accommodated with some last minute friends who wanted to join and everything was done swiftly and with great communication. I highly recommend, it's something you have to experience once in your lifetime!

The drive to and from Durban is a bit long at 3.5 hours each way, but we knew that beforehand. Our guide Moses was excellent, he is a ranger himself and knows the park well. We saw a lot of animals, unfortunately not the lions, but probably because of the weather. It rained all day. Luckily we had a closed minibus, the other visitors to the park that we met were in open jeeps and they didn't look very happy. Lunch (not included) in the reserve was buffet and excellent.

Great experience with Tim and team. Booked late as we weren’t sure we could fit it in and they were able to make adjustments and accommodate us (4 people).

Nicholas our driver and guide collected us from Umhlanga at 6am and we had a pleasant and engaging drive up to the park - discussed lots of aspect of interest to us and he was good humoured and knowledgeable about KZN and the vast cultures. Game drive was great. We saw loads of elephant up close and personal (in van) rhino, loads of different bok, hogs etc. No lions this time but that’s what makes this special - it’s real.

Good engaging drive back again with lots of interesting conversation with Nicholas who didn’t run out of energy and conversation.

        Thank you

It was an amazing tour. We used a jeep style car in very good condition. Cibo, our driver was a very careful driver, very polite and communicative. He was very updated about the reserve and he did his best to satisfy us. Many animals and birds in a beautiful area. However, lions did not do us the favour.... next time....

Bit disappointed with our guide as we did not see much variety. Friends with another guide on the same day saw a lot more of the Big 5 than we did, Lions, leopards etc. Although to make up for it we did see 10 white Rhinos, 7 in the one watering hole. I don't think it is a good as Kruger, as we saw so much more variety of animals. Maybe the time of year as it was so green it was hard to see through the bush where as when we went to Kruger it was in the dry season and easy to spot animals.

Dear Adrana Thanks for your review. I can appreciate your disappointment but as you say you got to see 10 White Rhino and the other group didn't. In a way this is the beauty of such a large protected reserve, animals constantly move freely and it is really being at the right place at the right time. This is in no ones control. We hope to see you return one day! Kind regards Tim

The trip to Hluhlwe Imfolozi is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The encouters with the magnificent animals were breathtaking. It was astonishing how calm these animals were when considering that we were only a few meters away from them. The tour guide also supplied us with a profound knowledge of the animals' behavior and made the trip even more enjoyable for me and my friends. During the tour we met White Rhinos, Giraffes, Elephants, Warthogs, Baboons, Warthogs, Impalas, Nyalas, Waterbucks, Zazu from Lion King and Buffaloes. I would also like to recommend the lunch that can be included as it was savory and delicious! I will definitively go again if I am ever in Durban again.

Fantastic day tour in which I learnt so much about South Africa, it’s people, culture and its animals from Thabo.

Saw a large variety of animals in the park and has an absolutely fantastic day.

Thabo was punctual, informative and above all very friendly and knowledgable.

Driving was extremely safe but very efficient.

Thabo Let myself and a fellow member of the tour dictate what we wanted to do and could honestly answer all our questions.

        Recommended!!!!

        Thank you Thabo!

We did this off the oceania trip docked in Richards bay and stayed at hilltop lodge. While the safari was very well organized we didn’t get to see any cats on this trip. There is a limited amount of lions here at this reserve. Very pretty hills and lush tropical vegetation. Less open dry prairies like other safaris. Tim browns group picked us up New Year’s Day and dropped us off at the ship in Durban so everything was fine in getting us back on the ship. hilltop lodge is at a premium location in the park but if you can stay at the more luxury lodges try to do that. Hilltop is not a 3 or 4 star place. Check all the floors before you sleep for critters if you do stay here.
Sibo was our guide and spoke very good English and was very helpful in every way. The night Jeep guides are first rate here too. Some are employed at hilltop.
