An African Dream
Jan. 2020 • Solo
We as humans need to remember that it is a privilege to view wild animals in their natural state. Thus, one could travel many times to the Kruger or any game reserve and not see a specific animal. However, your guides (Fortune, Rex, Patrick) make the maximum effort to ensure that you view as much as possible during your stay...and you definitely do! Your journey begins after being picked up at your accommodation (our driver Thabo was hilarious) and continues with a drive to the Kruger. Along the way you stop multiple times, especially for a pre-organised and tasty lunch in Dullstroom. Upon arrival at Tremisana Lodge, you are greeted with a warm welcome, and sent off on a sunset game drive and a truly South African candle-lit dinner in the bush. In the morning, after your coffee/tea, your adrenaline rushes as you are taken on a 4 hour bush walk among the wildlife and along the river while your guides provide further insight into the environment. You stop for a rest and a snack while listening to the birds, animals and river flowing. Later on, you go on an afternoon game drive and, upon return, are transferred to Marc’s Tent and Treehouse Lodge where you will meet your lovely and ever-smiling host Petunia and you will receive a 3 course dinner by the awesome masterchef Dudu. Day 3 you spend the entire day at the Kruger. In the morning you have breakfast at the lodge, lunch is at your own expense in the Kruger and another 3 course dinner is served at the lodge. Your guides are full of knowledge and ensure that you see as much as possible. Day 4, after breakfast you visit Moholoholo rehabilitation centre and gain further knowledge about our environmental and wildlife situation. Your guide Oscar is an excellent host and will definitely make you think more about others and your surroundings. Lunch is served back at the lodge, you have a few hours of well deserved free time. You end your day with an afternoon game drive and a 3 course dinner. This day was very special to me as it was my 21st birthday. Dudu surprised me with a coffee and chocolate birthday cake and we even saw a leopard for the first time during our stay! Day 5 is another full day in the Kruger, similar to day 4. Going twice to the Kruger is excellent as you get a second chance to spot those animals you have not seen the first time in the Kruger or during your other game drives in the privately owned reserves. Day 6 you have another but short early morning bush walk around the private Matlala reserve where your guide Jordan will provide you with more opportunities of seeing animals and learning. Who knew termite hills could be so cool? After your walk, you have your last delicious breakfast and say your goodbyes to the new family you have gained on your journey. Your drivers will take you along a different route to stop at the amazing Blyde River Canyon, lunch in Dullstroom and then to your accommodation. All in all, the rooms were clean, the staff were very helpful and the food was amazing. The bar is a cash bar, but you have the chance to get money from a bank at the Kruger Park. This is a must do trip! Even me, as a South African myself, will remember it for the rest of my life! Thank you to the team at Tremisana, Marc’s Camp, Moholoholo, the Kruger and everyone at Viva Safaris!

Amazing experience
Aug. 2019 • Friends
I will start with the pros. Hats off to viva safari as they created a itinary that made our holiday something to remember, absolutely awesome. Had a amazing time at both lodges, tremisana and Marc's treehouse. Both lodges were clean, ensuites provided and very comfortable. All the staff were lovely and very accomadating. Our host petunia was very helpful, polite and real pleasure to be around in the evening. She is full of life so a special thanks to her. Staff at both lodges were really good. Viva safari truly know how to pick the right staff. I really appreciated how we managed to see 4 of the big 5. That was mainly thanks to the itinary of visiting numerous private reserves and the 2 days at kruger. I really enjoyed the Bush walk at tremisana and the sunset drive at Marc's. A shout out to Charls for making extra effort for us to find the elusive leapard. We got ever so close but just missed it.
Now I given 4 stars rating instead of 5 mainly because there was a mistake with the room booking. I asked for 2 x twin rooms for both lodges. I had to share a double bed through the time at Marc's camp when clearly I asked for 2 x twin beds.
Another downside for me was the breakfast. Very poor selection and poorly cooked eggs.
These negatives can hopefully turn into positives in future.
I would 100% recommend viva. I had a amazing time and my positives out weigh the negatives by a huge margin. No company offers a budget safari as good as viva..... Period!!!!!!
I will definately use viva again.

Hi Afy Thanks for a good review. We are generally pleased with your description of your AMAZING EXPERIENCE and thank you for a detailed analysis. Petunia and Charl are thrilled to feature by name ! We apologise for the mixup regarding beds - I was told that you were originally offered a quadruple room at both camps. There really is no excuse for a substandard breakfast and Dudu is embarrassed. She has promised Charl that there will be no repeat ! Thanks for your loyalty in recommending Viva Safaris and we are pleased that you will use us again - this time with a 5/5 review. Be well Piero

Jul. 2019 • Family
Our family had a great time. The lodge and treehouse were uniquely African. What a buzz listening to lions roaring at night. The food was better than mums cooking, the beer and wine cheap and cold. The staff really helpful and friendly.

We got to see the big 5 plus cheetah and African hunting dogs which made it the magnificent 7.

We will be back this was a life changing experience for us

Amazing
It was really well organized. We spent 2 days in Kruger and the other days at parks in the greater Kruger, which was great cause we could see the wild animals a bit closer. We got to give water to cheetahs and a leopard came all the way till our car. It was amazing.

Hi Thanks for a short and amazing review. We thank you for your appreciation of our good organisation and are pleased that you saw many animals both in Kruger Park and in the private reserves you visited. You were certainly fortunate to have had such close encounters with spotted cats. Kind regards Piero

An Authentic Bush Experience
Aug. 2019
We've been wanting to visit the Kruger National Park for a while now but in the end it was a spur of the moment decision to book with Viva Safaris for a week long getaway. We booked the 6 day lodge and treehouse safari. What a wonderful adventure! The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere from collection at our hotel to the drop off at OR Tambo can't be praised enough. The guides on our game drives and walks went the extra mile to try to ensure that we saw as many animals as possible. On our last day in the Park our driver managed to find a leopard so we ticked the big 5 off our list. The treehouses are wonderful we had one with an indoor en-suite as I did not want to be walking around to the ablutions at night especially in the cold of August. The tree house we stayed in was fairly low off the ground in the front but once we went out onto the platform at the back we were high off the ground with a beautiful view of the river. The food is homely but plenty for people who have been busy spotting game the entire day. In all the time we were there we only had one afternoon where there was no organised activity - that was a much needed break as for the rest of the time it's non-stop, which we loved. Definitely a holiday to be remembered and really well worth the price. If you go in winter make sure to pack plenty of warm clothing even if the day is warm the drives on the open vehicles can be icy, particularly on the way back to the treehouse.

Can't Imagine A Better Experience!
Jul. 2019 • Couples
We were with Viva Safaris for 6 days and we all thought we could have spent a couple more days. We loved everything! The schedule was great and we saw so many animals. The first night we saw a male lion on our sunset game drive. The guides were so great and knowledgable. The food was home made and delicious. The accommodations were so fun and authentic. If you are considering going to South Africa to see animals on a safari and want an authentic experience, you should book with Viva Safaris.

The most amazing experience
Jun. 2019 • Couples
I cannot recommend this safari highly enough.

We did the 6 days Tremisana Game lodge safari and it was the most amazing holiday we have had. Everything from being greeted at the gate by Colette to the outstanding knowledge of the guides. Every staff member was super welcoming and friendly and cannot do enough to help!

My partner proposed to me on the trip the staff helped him with the best time and place. The staff then brought us a bottle of prosecco and flowers to say congrats which was completely above and beyond!! It was so lovely to celebrate with them all.

The food included was outstanding and plentiful. At breakfast there were lots of options - hot, cereals, fruits and every evening was homemade 3 course meals. The lodges were comfortable, private and clean. Showers were very hot and good.

And then the animal... we were extremely lucky to see the Big 5 within 2 days! The best drives were on the private reserves as it feels way more like a safari with the beaten tracks. You can also get a lot closer to the animals on the private reserves compared with Kruger. The drivers are very knowledgable and we learnt so much about each type of animal.
During the 6 days we were constantly busy, only having a few hours on the first day to nap!
Elephants at the lodges were amazing, eating the roofs and coming to the water holes. So even in the limited downtime you can sit and watch the animals.

I would suggest taking very warm clothes. We thought because its South Africa it wouldn't be too cold but it really was! Especially the wind in the open Jeeps. If we went again we would take hats, scarfs, lots of layers and coats.

The price you pay for this safari is very cheap for what you get! I would highly recommend to everyone and we will be back!

Hi Sarah What an equally " most amazing " review !! To state that our safari was the most amazing holiday you have ever had is an unbelievably powerful compliment !! It is very satisfying to read that you so appreciated our caring staff, our outstanding meals and the brilliant animal sightings. Thanks for a truly fantastic recommendation and we look forward with great anticipation to you and your future husband's next visit. Kind regards Piero

A true African experience
Apr. 2019 • Solo
Viva Safaris is more than just a safari. They will make you feel at home. Starting from the warm welcome of their staff, as soon as you get into the bus you’ll feel you know them for ages. When you reach Tremisana you’re welcomed by Pretty and Shannon who are just amazing, Pretty is a great host and Shannon has a great eye for spotting animals. You’ll do walks with Hakuna Matata and he’ll show you how to smoke elephant poop. You’ll get close to animals like hippos and you’ll feel safe. After that you go to Marc’s Camp and that’s were the homey feeling really kicks in. Colette is amazing beyond words. She’s a truly kind soul who is passionate about her job and will make anything to make you feel at home. The beautiful kudus and monkeys will also welcome you and will be present all throughout your stay. I enjoyed several drives with most of the rangers and each one of them were incredibly special. Mbuzo is the leopard man, we spotted two leopards with him. Shawl has all the funny anecdotes, he has great knowledge about the bush and is happy to share it with you. Salsinho (I don’t remember your name but you know who you are) was amazing and funny. They’re all bush babies and know the territory like the palm of their hand. We managed to spot all the big 5 and even an African Civet. And, last but not least, you’ll get to try the amazing food there. From Afrikaans dishes to creative desserts each dinner is a roller coaster of flavors. The tree houses are beautiful and comfortable.

Thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful stay, I came in as a city mouse and left as a bush mouse.

Please do not hesitate to go to Viva Safaris, you’ll have a great time!

Saw the Big Five and so much more, a superb experience and safari
Apr. 2019 • Couples
We had an amazing time on this safari, the organisation by Viva Safari's was brilliant and it couldn't have run more smoothly. Add to this that Tremisina Lodge and Marc's Camp were both fantastic with great staff and guides, and then the wildlife did their part too with us seeing great game including all of the Big Five, with a close Leopard walking by the vehicle on a sunset drive being a real highlight. Cannot thank you enough for such a wonderful trip. Terry Cooper & Jill Edwards
