- Travel148712757660 contributionsAsk for Me to be your tour guide! Our trekking was led by Me. She is a local from the Hmong tribe. It's amazing how much she knows about the area, the culture and habits of the different tribes. We enjoyed the hike with her a lot as she was very interested and willing to share. We also had the best food in the homestay we stayed at night, which was prepared by the hosts themselves.. by far one of the best meals we enjoyed during our whole stay in Vietnam. The only downside is the lunch places of both days - you eat in restaurants where all tourist tours meet again - I'd prefered something less touristic.Written 23 November 2024

- jimmyt6160 contributionsHiking through the Sapa valley and learning about the different minority communitiesWe had a great experience with our guide, Hau So. The experience was tailored so that we couldn’t up to see the top of Fansipan the first day. Note that even taking the cable car to the top, there is still quite a bit of additional steps/hiking to get to the peak. The second half of the first day was spent hiking to our first homestay. Note that the hiking does involve a lot of elevation which was challenging on the knees. Pack as light as possible. For the best experience, be open minded and willing to learn about the communities that you will be trekking through. Ask lots of questions. The people in the community are very kind.Written 18 November 2024
- nottrippy0 contributionsLovely local experience in the villages of SapaIf you want to see the beautiful Sapa villages area with a local guide, this is the best way to go. Our guide So took us from Sapa town to see Fansipan and then walked us to the local villages to see the bamboo forest, rice paddies and to stay at home stays - comfortable bed and breakfasts hosted by village families. Our hikes were 10 miles each day, stopping at picturesque lunches on the way. Highly recommended when in Vietnam!Written 18 November 2024
- fringilo0 contributionsPrivate tourWe had a private tour through rice fields. We really enjoyed our trek. Our guide Say took us through nice fields that would we never find if we would be without guide. She also explained to us way of life in the villages.Written 15 November 2024

Our guide (Chau) was so friendly and nice and was full of knowledge and answered all of our many questions about the animals, tribes, rice fields etc. The trek was a bit of a challenge but definitely worth it, a once in a lifetime experience! Any photos you've ever seen don't do justice. You need to book this tour and see for yourself, you will be in awe! The food was also very good, you won't go hungry I promise. This is our favourite experience in Vietnam so far. :) :)Written 11 November 2024

We booked a one-day trekking tour in Sa Pa. The website advertises English-speaking guides, but unfortunately we got a tour guide who spoke very little English. After a few sentences, our guide no longer understood us and it was impossible to get answers to our questions. We therefore learned absolutely nothing about Hmong culture, not even about the wedding culture advertised on the website.
In addition, our guide was often on his cell phone and preferred to make TikTok videos rather than try to explain anything to us. We also ate alone at lunch (which wasn't really good either).
After lunch, we met a woman who hiked down with us. Our tour guide introduced her as a friend. When we got downstairs, the woman tried to sell us clothes, which was very unpleasant because she reacted very rudely after we said no.
Our tour guide ended up following us into the hotel lobby and probably wanted a tip from us. We wrote honest feedback to Trekkingtour Sa Pa (before writing this review) and tried to find a solution. We were told that they didn't have any good tour guides because of the festival and had found an external tour guide. We are extremely disappointed that our booking (and our money) was accepted knowing that there was no good tour guide. We also think it's a shame that we weren't told whether we wanted to do the tour a day later. Trekkingtours Sa Pa only responded to our solution when we opened a dispute via Paypal because the service we received did not match the one advertised. In retrospect, we would never have booked this expensive tour (€35 per person) under these circumstances and would not recommend it to anyone! It's better to book at another local office. We were probably unlucky with the booking day, but we still think that this is not acceptable and we are incredibly disappointed.

We booked a day tour and were completely satisfied with everything. Our tour guide (Chu, I hope that's the right name) was very communicative and spoke good English. Her open and friendly manner also made the day a real experience. She also asked if we wanted to take the "more interesting" route and since we were only a small group of 4 people, the topic was quickly over. So, we chose the difficult descent and we didn't regret it. Then we walked through the valley, got to know traditional crafts, the country and its people and the exhausting day ended after a 12 km walk in a taxi that took us back to the starting point, the ladies' office. All promises were kept, our expectations were fully met and we can happily recommend the Trekking Tour Guides.

Great experience! They were super nice and helpful since start, answering questions and offering assistance for everything. I highly recommend this experience as it is a real immersion in the local culture, visitng local villages and tryiing food. Our guide was Tung: she was super at explaining everything, giving us curiosities and making us very comfortable during the tour. Highly recommended!

Tzu our guide was kind, genuinely happy , informative and spoke good English (amazingly enough she just learnt it from tourist).
The walk was easy to medium grade. The weather was a perfdct 17% and sunny(you can still burn so make sure you cover up, we took an umbrella)There wasn't one detail that wasn't interesting. The local indigenous people are lovely in nature as well. The walk was one of the highlights of Vietnam. We will highly recommend doing this to all who ask our opion in the future.

WOW. What an amazing experience! Tzu our guide was brilliant, answered every question, was so lovely and fantastic English. (which she had learnt from tourists) The trek itself was midrange challenging, but all the effort was completely worth it for the views of the rice fields. Furthermore, learning about the three villages we went through, the way of living for the Hmong people and getting help along the way was eye-opening and so nice. If you are wondering whether to do this trek, trust me and do it. Be aware that you will be asked to buy things (only when you get to second village, and not on the walk itself) by the Hmong people and their children, however, you do not have to of course AND if you choose to like we did, you are contributing massively to a population suffering from the effects of covid. These ladies have to pay for their kids to attend school so if you choose to help you, you can feel good knowing you’re helping those that need it. (Items are so cheap ($2-3) Thank you for the trek and if I ever return to the beautiful Sapa I will be sure to do this again.

The trip was wonderful and informative. Soso, my tour guide, was very helpful in giving informations about the places along the path. Her excellent English made more inspired on how you give the opportunity to explore the indigenous culture of her people and with the other tribes in Northern Vietnam. It is incredibly an inspiring and wonderful experience to remember. I really appreciate Soso's dedication and work!!! Kudos to her.

This trek was difficult, especially in the muddy parts. (Be prepared to get your shoes dirty, especially if it had just rained)
Thankfully our guides were so patient and helpful.
The views were incredible.
A couple of things we didn’t know would happen- 2 local ladies followed our tour group all the way to lunch. They helped us get through the slippery parts. They were a huge help. At lunch they pulled out their handmade goods and it was expected we buy something from them before they left. I got a cute pouch.
There were a couple of groups of local children who sell handmade bracelets. They will follow you for a while trying to sell them. Just FYI.

This is a six hour trekking in the middle of rice field. Moderate walk and it is not pushing. The guide was very knowledgable and patient. She gives a lot of photo time and relax, not pushy. In certain part we have to walk through the field and if you have some knee or mobiity problems then it is a challange. Moderate fitness is needed especially some up hill walk and a lot of down hill as well. The view was superb and I was joining this trekking in April which fabulous as the weather is nice and no rain, if it rained then the terrain will be very slippery. The food offered is order to cook, so all are fresh and hot,it is not buffet style which was very common in Vietnam. After the long trip and finished at Ta Van Village, a taxi is waiting for us to bring back to Sapa City,it was nice as all of us are really tired. Highly recommended this company as it wa run by local people,so we can help local guide for better living.

We were collected from our hotel by foot on time, there were us 2 and one other couple on our tour. Hiked approx 12km through rice fields and the guide showed us interesting things like uses for plants. Lunch was delicious and a good size, and we were shown how the people make and dye clothes in the village. At the end we were taken by car back to our hotel.
The only negative was at lunch we were initially sat at a table where we were hassled by sellers (including local women that had walked with us) that wouldn't leave until we bought something from them. We then were moved to a table out of the way once everyone had been pressured to buy something.
Overall a lovely walk and would definitely recommend

We booked the one day trek and, though February is not an ideal time, we lucked into pretty good weather until lunch. Our Hmong guide Tzu was lovely, knowledgeable and fun. She took very good care of us as we navigated some slippery paths. She was generous enough to take us to her home where we met two of her children. The walk is stunning and the culture of the hills tribes very interesting. Be prepared for them hawking their wares. As another reviewer said, the lunch was tastier than we expected. If you don’t have the time or inclination for a multi day trek, this is ideal. We really feel like we were immersed in the area. There is no other way to see it.
