Your tour begins with pickup from your Beijing hotel and a short transfer to the train station in time for a 7am departure. After meeting your guide and small group of up to 15 people, hop aboard a high-speed train for the around 40-minute journey to Tianjin.
On arrival, the first stop of the day is the Porcelain House. Take a moment to admire its elaborate façade, adorned with a magnificent collage of porcelain, white marble, and crystal, then head inside to browse the impressive collection of ancient Chinese porcelain.
Next, enjoy a stroll around the idyllic Jingyuan Garden, where you can admire the 20th-century gardens and learn more about the life of Pu Yi, the last emperor. Continue to the Five Great Avenues, a picturesque residential area famed for its European-style architecture and numerous celebrity and politician residents. As you admire the beautiful buildings, learn how the five streets are named after five of southwest China’s major cities – Chongqing, Changde, Dali, Munan, and Machang.
The final stop of the day is the Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street, where you’ll have plenty of time to browse the art galleries and artisan shops; shop for traditional handicrafts such as batik fabrics and clay figurines; and sample tasty street foods (own expense).
After a day exploring the city, head back to the train station for the return journey to Beijing. Back in the city, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 5pm.
