- HBTraveller130 contributionsNot an "Adventure"This excursion was perfectly enjoyable but definitely not an "adventure". After taking a van for about 20+ minutes to our starting point we were excited to bike on some beautiful scenic trails but we rode only one one straight paved road out and back. It was pretty, as all of Alaska is, with a few water views. We probably rode a total of 8-10 miles total and made a stop for a short nature walk. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting on the walk, but this really was not what we signed up for. We all felt that for the price, there should have been more to this and better organized. I know how hard it is to run a small business, the kids who ran the tour were lovely, and hate to leave poor reviews but I feel that future bookers should know what they are purchasing.Written 11 September 2024

Wow!!! First we were greeted with two young people who just made the tour very uplifting. They were both very knowledgeable and made sure everyone in that tour was having a good experience. Casey and Carly did an awesome job and explaining nature and Juneau. We had a windy rainy cold weather but they both made it very friendly. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is thinking about it. Just go and book it. I was debating back and forth for a whole month prior to my cruise date and 30 min prior to arriving Juneau I didn’t regret it one bit. My two young adults also stated they had a good time and if they come back to Alaska they would book it as well AGAIN!

My husband and I are world-wide Segway tour riders and take every opportunity to book a tour when we are able though typically to see a city this time we wanted to do the rainforest. We had very limited time in Juneau and decided to book it on our day of arrival from our cruise ship. Since the pick up is right at the port/dock there were no issues finding our guide who drove us (and another couple who had never segway'd) up a highway to a large shoulder/parking area where he trained the new couple on its use. From this parking spot you can see the Mendenhall Glacier across the water. We then rode along the shoulder (bike lane) up the side of the highway (which overlooks waterway on one side and cliff on the other) for about 20 minutes and stopped to cross the street to observe a nice little waterfall. We then got back on the machines and rode along the shoulder for another 10-15 minutes coming to the entrance of a viewing section of the Lynn Canal where our guide talked about its historical and current use. Then following another 10 minute ride stopped at an entrance to the Tongass National Forest trail entrance where we got off the segways and hiked about 10 minutes through the rainforest down to the beach. This was by far the best part of the trip as it was beautiful and the guide was very informative about the plants and life of the surroundings. From there we simply segway'd back to the vehicle. So IF you're looking for a fun Segway trip this is not it as this is literally up the side of a road. It is very easy course for beginners though as there are no obstacles and you can familiarize yourself with a segway easily.

1. Segway are an awesome way to see your surrounds & relatively easy to master
2. Carli & Mallory provided the best training & safety session we have experienced and we have segwayed in a number of different countries.
3. The commentary provided by Carli & Mallory was informative, chatty and they were able to answer the questions put to them. The care shown to the less confident riders was exemplary
The whole experience was brilliant and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and to do it again.

We have never ridden a Segway before and after this experience we sure are more confident riders thanks to our guide for the day, William.
He was very patient, careful and taught us well on the side of the N
Douglas Hwy.
Once he was satisfied that all of our group was riding right he led us along on a wonderful mile long stretch with all of us following his directions.
We had a couple of scenic stops along the coast after which William took us into the Rainforest trail on foot. He shared his knowledge with us about the flora and fauna of the forest. The trail ended in a beautiful secluded beach.
Overall, a fantastic experience to get a feel of the coast at a slower pace!

We did our homework before arriving in Juneau and booked with Segway as a great way to explore. Our goal with the group was to make sure we had fun with Erin and Reuben with others. Husband and wife duo were very entertaining and a great way to get together for fun. Ideally book in advance as this business is very busy. We had a few newbie’s who hadn’t ridden before and a few rusty ones… lol. The group certainly become comfortable with the leadership of the experienced team of Segway Alaska and the jokes did fly around. Definitely a good way to start the Juneau experience.

I booked this as an alternative to normal cruise ship excursions. We had previously been on Segway tours 3 times so I had no anxiety about the process of riding. The two leaders were very knowledgeable, professional and safety conscious. Our pre-trip "tune up" was accomplished quickly and safely. All participants quickly became competent with the Segways.
We made a few stops. One was a scenic waterfall. Another longer stop included an easy hike through a forest down to a rocky beach. We had some good views of Mendenhall Glacier on the return trip.
Note: some may object to the route; you spend your Segway time on the shoulder of a lightly-trafficked 2-lane road. I never felt unsafe on this route.

We appreciate the 5 star review you gave us! We have had so many positive reviews we are having a difficult time responding personally to each one. Others will appreciate your impressions and it will help them choose iRide Alaska for a Segway or eBike tour.

This is a must do if your visiting Juneau!! Alex, our guide, is not only a great tour guide but genuinely a wonderful person. He made sure that we were very comfortable and confident with our segways before we started the tour. We stopped at several scenic places from waterfalls to some great views of the snow capped mountains with Alex making sure we do not miss out on the beauty Juneau has to offer. This was followed by a hike at the rain forest to the beach. Alex gave a detailed explanation about the different endemic flora and fauna of Juneau along with happily taking pictures with a big smile every time I requested. Having never rid a segway before, it was one of the best fun experiences I had in a while!!

We had such a great time on our off-roading segway tour! Reuben was so accommodating to our group and even skipped out on a hunting trip he wanted to go on, to keep his word to take us on the day we had available while we were in Juneau. The weather was forecast to be cloudy, but ended up pretty much raining the entire time. Since our group was up for it (we were a party of 7), Reuben and Brittany led without batting an eye. I’m not even sure they noticed it was raining.
For starters, I thought off-roading meant we would be on a beaten down trail through the woods, but we went on the road, along the coast, the whole time. Since some of our group had no experience, Reuben was patient and careful to explain the ins and outs of what we would be doing, and let us warm up on them before we hit the road. He made everyone feel comfortable.
We had only a couple of cars pass us the entire time so traffic wasn’t an issue. They provided clean helmets for each of us to use, as well. We watched a quick video in the back of their trailer and we were off.
One of the best parts was they had a walkie talkie radio strapped to each segue, so they could talk to us and tell us history and interesting tid-bits and stories as we rode. We stopped a couple of times, parked, and “hiked” down to the beach (maybe a quarter mile?) where they even had brought some crackers and salmon spread for a snack. They really thought of everything! The scenery was beautiful—I can only imagine what it would have looked like if it was clear or sunny.
Brittany was very sweet and, since she was born and raised there, shared a lot of interesting stories and information about nature and the forest where we walked. She was quite knowledgeable and they both made it so enjoyable! I would highly recommend this tour if you want to experience something very unique.

This was by far on the top of our list of things to do while we were in Juneau!! Rueben was an amazing tour guide and you could tell he is passionate about sharing this area with you. We started off with great instructions since it was our first time on a Segway. We did not hit the trail until everyone felt comfortable with the ride. Once on the Eagle Crest ski nordic trails we stop for small educational sessions about the different areas. We started at the top tundra area and worked our way down to the rain forest. The Segway ride was so easy going up and down the terrain. If you went too fast the machine would just slow down and keep it at a safe speed. Such an enjoyable experience.
Make sure you bring your rain gear because you just never know with the weather in Juneau. Overall this was one of the most memorable moment of our trip. Please make sure this is on your list of things to do, you wont regret it one bit.

We had e-bikes, not seg-ways, and it was a beautiful tour. Wish it were longer. Our 2 guides Clay and Paul were excellent. Native home grown Juneau men, polite, attentive, & knowledgeable of the area & history. Bikes were a little low powered, more pedal assist, but it was not hard for our older age group (60-70's) Would definitely recommend this tour when in Juneau. Better than any Princess excursion.
