Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.
What to Expect
After arriving to Hoonah, AK on your cruise ship you will get off the ship and walk through the Welcome Center building. From there walk down the gravel path to the "excursions hub" this will be about a 10 min walk. Maraiya will be there waiting with a sign that says "Hoonah Whale Tours" Once the whole group has met in the excursions hub, you will be driven into town to meet Captain Joardan at the boat. Once on the boat you will drive out into Icy Strait and look for all sorts of Southeast AK wildlife. There will be homemade blueberry muffins, granola bars, chips, and beverages as well. Captain Joardan grew up in Juneau, AK and spent his summers in Hoonah, AK. You can learn all about the alaskan way of life while enjoying the beautiful scenery and watching the whales.

We are so glad to have booked local for this experience...as we watched all the big whale boats chasing the same few humpback spouts, Captain Jordan spotted Orca fins and got us in place to spend time observing two large Orca bulls at easy viewing...More
