The night delivered exactly to expectation, the performers were skilful, athletic and brought the history to life.
The food was your typical banquet type food, but the night was all about the show.
Great show

Incredible. First time I went i missed the tour but the 2nd time we visited we did the tour and the show at night. The drums are music to my ears, entertainment is awesome and food is even better. I think offering guests mosquito repellent would be a good idea as i got bitten quite a lot as we sat close to the water

Really fun experience! Would 100% recommend this to everyone, it was a great way to get more of an idea about the local culture and history. The buffet was absolutely delicious, a really good range of food and something for everyone to enjoy. The over water display was spectacular, the performers were all super talented and seemed to have a really good time, great energy.
The tour guides were friendly and kept us informed throughout the night about what was happening.

Our group of four attended the cultural village tour before the buffet and overwater show. I think guests would miss a lot by skipping the cultural show. Ruth and Jack alternated stations by teaching brief aspects of Rarotongan history, medicine, costumes, weaponry, voyaging crafts, dance, and early life on the islands. They both have a quick sense of humor and have fun with their presentations. One previous reviewer said Ruth was rude. Far from it. That person doesn't have a sense of humor and I would bet did not attend the cultural show and probably doesn't know Ruth is a long-time descendant of the native people. Go see for yourself. It's an amazing evening of delicious and abundant food, music, dance, lights, and sound. We all will return when we have the opportunity.

Transportation was provided to the village from our hotel. The location has a recreation of a traditional village and we were given a partial tour of the site before dinner and the show. The dinner featured traditional island foods and was followed by a show showing the evolution of dancing and costumes from preEuropean contact up to the present day. The MC kept the guests entertained with his sense of humour and had us practice the Maori words that described the event, foods and activities. It is a bit expensive when compared to the other island nights provided by various hotel but you get the historical background and transportation. If you can, pickup the discount coupons at the Sat. market in town. Saves you $10 per person.

This was an unforgettable experience for myself and my family. The village itself was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the information shared during the day tour was in depth and easy to follow. The night show was spectacular and the food to follow was divine. I definitely felt the spirit there of the people and the dancing was amazing! Thank you to the Crew of Te Vara Nui!

I booked the full packaged. I was picked up on time and everything worked out perfectly. Then I got to see the cultural tour which I found very informative, with many stops about the coconut tree, fishing, settlement in the Cooks, etc. Then we got randomly seated at tables with other participants. I liked this because you get to talk to other people and if you don't like them, you're just not gonna talk to them. The buffet and the food was amazing, including lots of vegetarian options. I also enjoyed the dance show and we were all driven back to the hotel! Staff was always very very friendly and helpful!

An excellent evenings entertainment, great tour guides through the village with the "sisters" and suitably impressed in the memory of the countries in the welcome at the start of the show. Highly polished show and a feast of colour and movement for the eyes.
Great food choices with a mix of local delicacies and catered for all dietary requirements. Well recommended, the only slight negative is the cost of the drinks !
