About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mashgiach0 contributionsMini venice in ShanghaiNice place to visit when in Shanghai its the Shanghai version of venice and traditional Chinese village. We rented a boat for 25 minutes and was worth itWritten 3 March 2025
- Zoltán F0 contributionsTrip to Suzhou and water villageThat was a bad decision. The tour guide didn't even introduce himself, he was like a military officer. The Suzhou program was quite incomprehensible. Lunch is a disaster. There were plenty of nice restaurants in the water village, it wouldn't have been more expensive, but even in Suzhou they took me to a restaurant on the ground floor of a block of flats. The guide wasn't even willing to ask for a beer - we pay for it, of course - but he didn't offer language help either. I do not recommend this service at all!Written 3 March 2025
- nicholashN6346EG0 contributionsRefused refundI don't know how the trip was exactly because the tour operator refused to pick me up from my hotel. I was not informed that they wouldn't service my hotel, which is on the way from shanghai to the first destination, until the night before I was booked to go, meaning that I was unable to cancel my booking through trip advisor and get a refund. I believe they must do this on purpose in order to catch people out. They also were dishonest to me and said it was impossible for them to cancel the booking on their end. I went through tripadvisor customer service and they contacted the operator who refused to give a refund. So they lied, they could absolutely give a refund, they just didnt want to. Very unprofessional. Maybe some people get lucky and it all works out with this operator, but I would not trust them.Written 10 January 2025
- John D0 contributionsBest of Shanghai is worth it!There is a lot to see you get a wide ranging experience. It was like our own private tour. Well worth it! Wear comfortable shoes.Written 4 January 2025
- 317shalendras0 contributionsGood Experience but poor ServiceRushed us in the morning and did not let us have our breakfast and were very rude. They went on to pick other customers for the trip who were late 20-30 minutes. We clearly advised that we do not consume beef/pork and yet we were served with pork. Ended up not having lunchWritten 7 December 2024
- Vacation149398120860 contributionsIt was a good day spent on the roadWe enjoyed the entire trip. Get ready for a lot of traffic coming and going out of Shanghai, but it’s a good way to see rural China in the eyes of the water village. We felt the trip was well planned with a lot of things to see on Suzhou, the garden is incredible and the silk museum is worth it to learn some silk making and buy some real silk products. Our guide Elena was with us the whole time explaining about history and sights we were seeing. Lunch was actually good, would prefer to have it in the water village though. We wish we had more time to spend in the water village.Written 9 November 2024
- Christopher H0 contributionsShort but sweetThe Tour around shanghai was an amazing experience. It included all the best sights of shanghai of the city in a short time.Written 31 October 2024
- 125clivej0 contributionsExcellent Day Tour - Small GroupExcellent tour with Tom. Very knowledgeable. Just the right amount of commentary then you get some time to explore each location before moving to the next place. Quite a bit of driving between locations which is ok because you get to look at the city. A fair amount of walking so wear good shoes and dress for the season. Very hot and humid in September. Lunch was great. Nothing too scary for a westerner. We started at 8am and was back at hotel around 3.30pm but we were only a group of 3 so larger groups may take a little longer. Silk ‘factory’ at the end is a little bit of a hard sell but you don’t need to buy anything. Don’t feel obligated ! Fantastic clean and safe city.Written 28 September 2024
- jameseW714KK0 contributionsShanghai TourTom was a very good guide. He called us the day before to confirm our hotel and pickup time. He was knowledgeable, and patient. Thank you, Tom.Written 16 September 2024
- katellad0 contributionsZhujiajiao WOW!This was a very action packed half day trip. Saw Kezhi garden and learned about Chinese culture. Then we went on a beautiful boat for a water tour. After the water tour, our guide , Tom, let us stay a little longer to explore , which was very kind of him. It ended with a drive back in classic Shang Hai traffic - four cars in one lane. The driver was a champion at navigating the jumble. A great experience!Written 12 September 2024
- itisivanova0 contributionsA memorable trip!loved this tour! we so saw and experienced so much in just one day! tom, the guide, is also very informational! I learned a lot :)Written 13 April 2024
- Roderick T0 contributionsSpectacularThe show was spectacular and our guide very helpful both in transporting us to the venue and after the show in our walking tour of the Shanghai French Quarter.Written 15 March 2024
- 715winniel0 contributionsHighly recommended to go but during quiet seasonThe guide is knowledgeable; fabulous water village; kept the ancient architect in good condition; clean city; should avoid going there during China holidaysWritten 25 February 2024
- Frank d0 contributionsLearned a lot, great sightseeing!!It was extremely interesting to see the two different towns, enjoy the scenery and savour the local cuisine. The Watertown was nice and quaint, it supposedly looks like how China was in the past. The shops were cute, artsy and reasonably priced. The whole tour felt rushed though. Even though the advertisement indicates 10 hours, we were back at the hotel in 8. The advertised tour does not mention a minimum participant number, but as they only had our 2 person party, they informed us the night before the tour that we could cancel or pay an extra $100. As we had nothing planned and it was too late to get something else, we chose for the extra ‘cash’ payment. Our guide, Tom, spoke English exceptionally well, was very interesting and had tons of things to explain. We learned a lot! He made us feel rushed though. The lunch was very good (and way too much…) in a very authentic restaurant. We would maybe have preferred to eat in the water town, but no complaints at all. So, beside from the feeling rushed, and the last minute $100 charge, we really enjoyed the tour and are very pleased we choose it!Written 6 February 2024
- ramadurair20160 contributionsGood day tour with decent amount of walkingDecent tour with stops at important landmarks. Our guide Michael was awesome, adding stories where appropriate. Good way to get some introduction behind the history of the city. Stop At Silk factory was purely marketing!Written 10 December 2023

This was by far the best was to enjoy the city in all its glory at night, we were so lucky to have a perfectly clear night to enjoy unobstructed views across both sides of the river, old meets new, the river splitting them, allowing them both to shine respective of one another. We were able to get really good spot on the boat so we didn’t need to move at all, be sure to get there early as everyone rushes to the edges of the boats to get the best views and the locals don’t hesitate to push, especially in the so-called queue area, which is rather chaotic. But it’s so worth the madness to take in the views.

When it comes to experiencing the vibrant energy and breathtaking beauty of Shanghai, there's no better way than embarking on a Huangpu River Night Cruise. This iconic journey offers a front-row seat to the city's dazzling skyline, where the past and present of Shanghai come alive under the glow of neon lights and starlit skies.
The Huangpu River, often referred to as the
"Mother River of Shanghai," divides the city into two distinct yet harmonious halves: Puxi, the historic western side with its colonial architecture and the famous Bund, and Pudong, the futuristic eastern side boasting soaring skyscrapers like the Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower. As the sun sets and the city lights begin to sparkle, the river becomes a mirror reflecting the soul of Shanghai.
The night cruise lasts about an hour, offering ample time to soak in the views and capture unforgettable memories. Modern, well-equipped boats provide both indoor and outdoor seating, ensuring comfort regardless of the weather. As you glide along the river, you'll be treated to panoramic views of:
• The Bund: A stunning stretch of historic buildings illuminated in golden hues, showcasing Shanghai's colonial past.
• Pudong's Skyline: A futuristic marvel of towering skyscrapers, including the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center, lit up in a mesmerizing display of colors.
• Bridges and Waterfronts: The river is dotted with beautifully lit bridges, such as the Nanpu Bridge and Yangpu Bridge, adding to the visual spectacle.

Visited for boat cruise ride in Huangpu river during Shanghai trip. There are cruise rides every 20 min in evening for 40-45min of each ride. Place was crowded even on weekday evening. Cruise sails through east - west bank of river with picturesque views of illuminated coastline buildings including TV tower & Shanghai. Tower. Usually cruise have 3floor deck with top most floor with open terrace which is most crowded due View it offers. First floor is AC deck with seating and dining options. Tickets for premium area are different
Ticketing centre as waiting area and need to stand in queue of respective rides.
Overall a good experience to have though there are similar options in all major cities with Rivers

We took this boat cruise as part of a China tour. The night we went was particularly hot and the boat was quite full. We paid a few extra dollars and we were able to be in an area that had fewer people and the extra $ gave you a drink and something to nibble on.
The cruise takes under an hour and gives a great view of the modernity of buildings and lights in Shanghai.
Highly recommended and do your best to get a spot at the side of the boat so you can get great photos.

Great little tour for small groups. Tom was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about the area’s history. With the hotel collection and drop off it was very relaxing and enjoyable. Got some great photos as Shanghai is very impressive at night.
I would recommend.

The cruise was nice. The boat takes you along the Huangpu river, close enough to take great shots of the lights and buildings. The Bund looks so grand with its lights. No need to rush. Just your tickets and be on time. People were rushing up the boat for god knows why! There is plenty of room. Just go straight to the top deck for good photo shots.

(18: 30-19: 30) - Near the Pearl of the East Tower you will find one of the platforms from which the sailing ships sail. As you enter the tower, you can buy a card that combines a tour of the tower with a cruise on the Huangpu River. It is recommended to end your first day of sailing on the river, when it is already getting dark and around, the city lights are lit and glowing in a variety of colors

Advantages:
- Most comfortable way to enjoy the bund, obviously because there is no need to walk or to squeeze with the other people in the streets.
- Possibly the only way you get to capture the grand image of the Old side beside the New side of The Bund since you're right in the middle, on the river.
What are available?
- Banquet type of seating on the ferry, with large glass windows for you to enjoy watching the Bund. However, you’ll probably be able to take better photos from the deck since it is unblocked by the glass windows’ reflections. Seats on the deck are more limited so go up early! That’s where you can also enjoy the gentle breeze as the ship cruises along.
- Drinks and light snacks can be purchased from the drinks counter
- You can choose to pay 50rmb more to enter the VIP lounge where they have sofas and a complimentary drink
- Tour guide also gives some good introduction of the various noteworthy buildings along the Bund so it’s a more meaningful to know the historical and cultural background of the buildings
Tips:
You can purchase the tickets at the ferry center at the original price by yourself, but be warned, tickets for each hourly session run out quickly so you may only be able to get tickets for the next session i.e. gotta wait for an hour at the ferry center. If you want to eliminate that uncertainty, it may be wiser to just book your desired time slot for the River Cruise tour in advance. ALSO, be prepared to get overcharged by taxis after the ferry ride because there were very few taxis in that area after 9pm. We had to negotiate to pay 80rmb for a five-minute ride back to our hotel! Most cabbies quoted us 100rmb!

The cruise was beautiful. A little less than an hr, the lights were spectacular, loved it! What I didn't enjoy was the tour and tour guide. The tour guide kept rushing, even asking her to take pics were pointless. She rushed everything. The after tour was less than 15 mins. Not worth the price. It would have been way cheaper to take a cab, buy my own ticket for the cruise then go to that shopping area to explore.

The amazing skyline of Shanghai on the Bund is just amazing as you take the cruise down the Huangpu River, the beautiful buildings all lit up adds to the beauty of this place, the cruise itself is nice, and gives you a good view of all the high rise buildings that line the banks of the river on either side a must do when in shanghai
