I have been to Shanghai several times, yet this day tour made me appreciate more the culture and the development of one of the most beautiful cities in China. Our guide is very fluent in English and explained the history and development of Shanghai. Recommending this trip to all.

Alena was terrific. She knows Shangahi. This is a full day excursion with walking. The Shanghai Art museum is just one of the stops for 1 hour. Of course, its too short, but this is an overview. So you need to pace & time yourself in the museum so you get it overall. One could get stuck in the Chinese bronzes for three days.

Tu Garden is also interesting AND a good shopping experience.

I would change the lunch location.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and background of the places visited. No pushy sales at pearl and silk center. Although the1 hour in the Shanghai Museum was far too short, it gives you the opportunity for planning your next visit.

Shanghai is a mix of old and cutting edge new... With hundreds and hundreds of apartment buildings stretching for miles. Shanghai is very large and has lots of traffic.
I visited the M50 art district and was pleasantly surprised...visited the K11 mall and it was very "arty"...with interesting bits and clothing. Ate dinner there at the Noodle shop and wasn't impressed. I visited the Jade Buddha Temple and enjoyed the visit. It cost I think 20 yen...or about $2.80.

I’ll start with couple of positive things:
You’ll cover pretty much all major attractions for a reasonable price, I checked the VIP tour and it was like 380$ I did not think it was worth it, this one is , also I booked it almost the last minutes a day before so it was still available for 78.99 via Trip Advisor.
You’ll be picked up and dropped of the hotel. Lunch and tickets to all attractions included, so this is decent price to cover the cost.
The tour guide is decent, but not the top notch, he’ll touch base on basic subjects little history.
He will not tour the museum with You, since it’s impossible to cover for such a period of time, so You’ll be given 1 hour to swing by and check all 4 floors, I was manage to get a glimpse on all expositions for this period of time, but if You’d like to see it for real You’ll need at least half day.
Bund was interesting insight, but You have to come back here for several hours and in the evening.
Jade Buddha Temple was very impressive,
Yu Garden (Yuyuan) was good too but was overcrowded so much You barely moved on the bridge, since it’s packed like sardines in the barrels.
French Quarters is very interesting, but You’ll not spent too much time there, just pass by.
On negative part, they’ll take You to Silk factory, Peral factory, and Tea Ceremony.
This part can be completely excluded from the tour, but I guess this is how they make the money and keep the price relatively low.
Also You do not have to purchase anything, but If You do try to negotiate. Just give You an example later on my Chinese friend took me to the market, I wanted silk robe kimono, they started at 620, then went to 320, I ended up paying 100 RMB,
At the tea ceremony they try to sell You tea set for 600-1500 RMB, with my friend I purchased the wholes set for 150 RMB, so just understand the difference. But she was a killer in negotiations, if You’re tourist they see that and the price goes up 6 – 10 times.
Keep that in mind.
But in general I enjoyed the tour despite all of the above.

The places were fine but the person who was guiding was not good. Left us alone on the museum and in the lunch time. He were more interested in our personal information then passing information of the tour.

This tour looks like a great way to spend a day and see a lot of Shanghai in 8 hours. In actuality, you end up wasting about half the time because the guide will be late picking you up, and cut your time short at the jade Buddha and gardens in favor of the jade and pearl factories (which are not factories but jewelry stores to rake in tourist money). Our day went like this, picked up at 9 am from our hotel which was walking distance from the bins, went to pick up another tourist couple which made us waste another hour waiting m. Finally arrive to the jade Buddha temple around 10:15a, did a walk around tour of the grounds which actually was quite majestic and interesting but cut short by guide. Afterward. Went to art district which had some student galleries open but nothing significant to warrant a dedicated 45 minutes to view (some antique furniture shop included). Finally head to lunch for the worst food I’m shanghai, none of it was freshly made and all of it was bland. I would have preferred to be on my own and eat at a local place instead of the food, no one in the tour enjoyed anything. Finally go next door to the jade and Perl museum to view pieces all around $300-10,000 USD. (I’m convinced this is just because tour guide ur company gets a kick back from these store) finally head to the bund walk for about 20 minutes with no explanation of history or background information (good photo op but much better at night when buildings are lit). Afterwards head to the silk factory which actually shows you how silk is processed and got a lot of good information but in the end, similar to the jade and pearl factories. Finally head to the French concession which looked like it had a lot of history but again your guide did not explain and just walked through the area and back to the car. Last stop was the Yu garden which was really beautiful and lots to see but rushed to get us back to the hotel and it given time to explore market and shops in the area. Overall, the tour has some good highlights but Someone who can hail a cab or use mass transit can do the same tour for a fraction of the price and dedicate their desires time to the important sights instead of the useless sales ploys incorporated. All in all, time wasted about 3 hours and useful time spent about 2.5-3 hours. All added together and still not the advertised 8 hour tour promised. I would not recommend this for anyone at all.

We had Frank the tour guide. He was okay. Had a tendency to just walk away from us without saying anything when he was ready to move on. Unlike other reviews about him, he did give us history about the garden, Bund and other historical places. Felt like the pearl and silk factories were just a shameless ploy to get us to spend a lot of money. Felt sorry for the customers who didn’t speak English cause he paid them little to no attention. No choice for lunch. Would rather have skipped lunch and continues with tour as the food was not so good at all. Ended up just eating the white rice.

We had a great tour with host Alina. She was very knowledgeable and humorous. We toured many sites: Shanghai Museum, the Bund, Jade Budda Temple, Gardens, French Area and much more. We had 6 people on our tour and the smaller van makes it easier to get around the city. We saw many different neighborhoods and got a better idea of the complexity of Shanghai. We visited a pearl and silk factory and the tour also included a great lunch. If you have limited time in Shanghai this is a great comprehensive tour all in one day.
