Overview

With bustling bazaars, centuries-old heritage sites, and winding back alleys, Old Delhi, the former walled capital of the Mughal Empire, is one of the world’s most atmospheric historic quarters. The packed and bustling neighborhood can be difficult to navigate on your own, especially for first-timers to India. During this in-depth guided tour, you’ll immerse yourself in Old Delhi’s top attractions— and even take a traditional rickshaw ride.

What to Expect

With fragrant street food stalls, centuries-old Mughal landmarks, and packed marketplaces, Old Delhi is a feast for the senses. Buzzing with energy and excitement, it can be intimidating for first-timers to visit on their own— or even many veteran travelers to India.

During this convenient and in-depth guided tour, you’ll get an insider’s peek at the legendary historic neighborhood, without any of the hassles of arranging your own visit. Hop on Delhi’s sleek and modern metro for a short ride to the former Mughal capital. You’ll get out in the heart of the Old City, where you’ll head straight to the 17th-century Jama Masjid, a UNESCO-World Heritage site and one of the world’s largest mosques.

Your guide will be on-hand to share stories of the city as you explore winding lanes and off-the-beaten-track back alleys. Hop a cycle rickshaw, one of Delhi’s classic forms of transportation, and enjoy a one-of-a-kind ride to Asia’s largest spice market. You’ll get a chance to sample some of the city’s classic street dishes—like paratha, a stuffed Indian flatbread—before your guide brings you back to the hotel.

I would suggest it would not be suitable. The pavement in Old Delhi is exceptionally uneven and broken up. There are also numerous steps involved getting to the Mosque. Unless the buggy folds, it's also not going on a... More

There is quite a bit of walking involved. It's a moderate paced tour, it does get very crowded at times but you should be able to manage.

It’s quite a lot of walking and most of the streets are uneven but we walked at a pace that suited us all.
