I first took lessons with Gabriel in February 2019 and I came back in 2020 (on my way to another destination in Brazil) especially for more lessons with him because I felt so comfortable and safe the first time. Gabriel is professional, patient, super friendly, and communicates very clearly on what you need to improve (in English) and makes sure you are safe. I would highly recommend, especially for beginners who need to build confidence in their surf practice!

Yesterday I did my first surflesson with the teacher Gabriel. Very chill guy who spreaks very good English! He did a short explanation at the beach and then we went surfing on the waves. Between the surfing he keeps giving me advice, so I could improve my surfingskills. And there was also a photographer who takes pictures while surfing. So if you want to learn surfing and don’t speak Portugese, i’ll recommend you to go to Gabriel! (On the picture Gabriel on the left)

Gabriel (teacher) and Jonathan(photographer) are great guys. Gab makes you feel at ease and gives great tips to learn and improve you're surf skills. Jon makes great high quality pictures during the lesson (optional) I would recommend them to everyone and will go back when I'm in Rio again.

I wanted to rent a board to surf on my own, and Gabriel was super helpful and accommodating. We organised a time and everything was ready. He explained me everything about the spot and gave me a lot of advices once in the water, even though I didn't book a class with him. Thanks a lot Gabriel ! We were a group of 3 friends who had 2 surfing lessons with Gabriel. It was amazing, he was super nice and always gave us helpful tipps how we could improve! What’s more, his really good English skills made it a lot easier for us to really understand how to do it!! Thanks a lot!!

Gabriel is always highly motivated and fun. Surfing with him as a surf guide was perfect and he is really reliable. He messaged me always ahead when conditions were supposed to be good and then we went surfing together. I can absolutely recommend him as as surf guide/teacher.

Thanks to Gabriel I really enjoyed learning to surf in Rio. He was careful and willing to teach me more than I expected. Also his english was really good so there was no problem communicating. (He was even helping other instructors communicating with their clients) As a beginner this was also very important to me for safety reason. After taking lessons several times I introduced Gabriel to another travelers I met in hostel. And they were satisfied too!

Our 3 dutch kids had surfinglessons with Gabriël which they really enjoyed a lot!! Gabriël speaks english very well so it was very easy for them to understand. If we had stayed in Rio for more days we would go back to him for sure!!

I took some surf classes with Gabriel and he really improved my surfing! He's a very kind and patient instructor and gives a lot of helpful tips. Big advantage for foreigners - he speaks really good English, which you rarly find among the instructor at Ipanema. Would def book with him again!
