About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- dbt9990 contributionsSpectacular ViewsA visit up to see Christ the Redeemer. There are generally 2 queues. One is cash only on the left and the other is card payment only on the right. Generally ss you get half way down there are staff with mobile card payment so you don't need to leave the queue. You then wait for the train to come. Sometimes they will ask if you don't mind standing - worth doing as you jump the queue and there are usually some seats available still. The journey takes about 10-15 mins and you get some ok views on the way up as well as passing some wildlife (monkeys/birds) You may have to wait part way up for passing trains. Once up most people typically spend about 30 mins then head down. Lift is usually a good option. The views are pretty spectacular from the top!Written 12 September 2024
- Wombling_Free_75480 contributionsFunWe bought tickets in advance for the 8am train. It said to print out your ticket but I just showed it on my phone. Did ask for ID though. They put us on the 7:40am train which was good. Train wasn’t full. Sit on the right hand side for the best views, there are a couple of viewpoints.Written 2 June 2024
- Todd2PS0 contributionsYou Gotta Go!You simply gotta go! There were no lines, but remember if you're paying with a card there is a self service machine that makes quick work of the process. Sit on the right side going up.for the best views. Once you finish with the astounding views I suggest walking back down to the departure level. I usually see of coati or two. They are so cute! I'd like to figure how to take the vans one way or the other through the forest. Don't bother going up if it's cloudy.Written 25 April 2024
- PerranBoran0 contributionsNice ride through the treesThe ride was nice and since the weather was cloudy there were not many people in the line. You can see Jack fruits hanging on the trees. You should definitely take the trem, not the bus to go to the Christ the Redeemer. Due to a delay in our flight we arrived late, and we had to buy new tickets because they did not accept the ones we bought from the internet. You can buy the tickets on site.Written 31 October 2023
- Steve C0 contributionsAwe inspiringThis was almost overwhelming. We had been advised that the best time to visit was early afternoon and avoided any queues. The statue itself is simply awe inspiring. I had to stand in silence and look. An experience never to be missed.Written 26 September 2023
- Stevetarn20140 contributionsExcellent tram rideThe tram was well organised on the day we were there, we bought tickets in advance and picked them up from the booth. The queue for the tram was not too long. There are some interesting information boards to read while you wait. The tram ride itself is part of the experience and has some great views en route. The wait for the tram back is a little longer, but wasn't too bad, although I can see this could be lengthy on really busy days.Written 31 July 2023
- EctoplasmFantasia0 contributionsGoodA fun ride. I wanted to get up this way and was glad I did! Easy to get on train, plenty of room, and drinks for sale part way up from a station! Nice views of rainforest and easy disembarking.Written 11 June 2023
- JnVSydney0 contributionsPart of the experience.....Taking the train up to the top was just part of the experience, we had no problem with the lines, probably because we were with a tour group, the train was packed however, good fun, everyone was excited, it was a nice trip up. On the way back no problems all went smoothly, for us the train tripjust added to a wonderful day.Written 28 December 2022
- SrtaADB0 contributionsTake a van or private driverThey treat anyone who doesn’t speak Portuguese differently. They let people who speak Portuguese before us on the earlier train because the employee didn’t speak English. I know enough Portuguese to fend for myself and caught them off guard. They had nothing to say expect apologize. Disgusting behaviour. There is also no air conditioning while you wait at the ticket counter and no air conditioning on the train. It was hot enough to eat sick. They take souvenir photos of every guest and try to sell them to you at the end. We politely turned it down and the employee told us it was “mandatory”. We just didn’t listen and by passed the photos. Mandatory? Are you kidding me? 2 stars because they treated disabled and elderly VERY well, although this is Brazilian law. I recommend taking a van or private driver.Written 25 November 2022
- bornthatway_traveler0 contributionsSomething You Have to Do OnceThe cog train is a MUST-do experience, even if you decide to just do it one-way rather than round-trip. The views are breathtaking, and it convinces you you’ve left the city and entered lush, rural Amazonian jungle. The steepness of the ascent up the mountain catches you off guard first, but the sensation is unlike anything I’d ever experienced and felt really neat. The tickets cost an affordable amount, and I had no issues boarding the train as someone in an electric wheelchair. I was impressed and proud of the city for ensuring access to everyone, even those in heavy wheelchairs. Prior to researching online, I had assumed I couldn’t take my chair with me. Brazil always subverts my expectations! One big piece of advice: sit as close to the front of the train as possible. The conductor’s seat is far to the right of the train car, so folks can get up to the very front glass panel of the train and see out front at the train tracks and the exhilarating journey ahead. But it’s obviously difficult to walk down the train as it’s moving steeply upwards (and vice versa), so find a spot to be and stay there! Unless you wanna tip over and hurt yourself, heh. So with that said…ride the cog train! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience!Written 29 May 2022
- CaliGuy010 contributionsBest Way to the StatueThis is by far the best way to get to the Christ the Redeemer statue way up high. The trem drops you off literally right at the statue. Do Not waste your time take a cab because you will pay 100 Brz RL for a cab round trip in addition to about 80 Brz RL for a van to take you the rest of the way to the statue. The trem round trip to the statue is about 80 Brz RL.Written 4 January 2021

- Heather E0 contributionsDisorganised and chaotic so lower your expectations and embrace the chaos.I booked my ticket in advance for the 9:20 train and they tell you to get there 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. My advice is get there earlier. I arrived just after 8:15am. You have to queue to get your actual boarding ticket but this is so chaotic with no system in place so people just jump the line, and there was no staff to direct the flow of people. It was a bun fight. With a proper system and signage it could have been so much better. Anyhow I had plenty of time and once I got my boarding ticket. I had a little wander around the station, there are toliets and free wifi, some shops and a small exhibit of the development of the train which is in English. When the time came I was straight on the train, (sit on the right on the way up, or on the left on the way down) with no hassle. They do take a picture just before you board if you want which can be purchased at the top. It is a 20 minute ride up and at the top you can take the lift or walk up to the big Jesus. I decided to walk and this was rather pleasant with views to the Lagoa region of Rio. It is very busy with loads of people but it is a popular attraction so you have to expect crowds. However this did not spoil my experience and I am glad I went. Trip down was much better, there is a little waiting area and I got a window seat on both legs of my journey.Written 22 February 2020
- marybanilow0 contributionsWe Were MiserableIf you want to lose half your day in Rio for a five minute picture, take this slooooow train to the top. After our 1:20 ticket left a half hour later, we crawled on up. Both ways it stopped for 15 minutes for no reason while people sold water through the train windows. The entire train was in subdued misery while babies cried around us in the sweltering heat. The statue of course is iconic, and the train was in good shape, so an extra star, but, honestly, Sugarloaf is a much, much enjoyable site, and you can see Christ from its top.Written 18 February 2020
- richardnim0 contributionsCancelled trip and total chaosToday we bought tickets for the tram to bring us up to Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado! Unfortunately the tram system broke down, these things can happen and then it as like the airline you have to pay sold tickets back. This is something they just could not handle. Huge queues at the ticket offices and nobody willing to take some form of control. We lost 2 hours before finally a decision was made to pay us back. Not nice way to treat your guests from abroad nor Brazil.Written 13 November 2019

This is the second time I took the train from the corcovado, the first time I went in 2012. The trains were changed, but it was the least to expect. The attraction itself is wonderful, the Christ, but for example, different from the baby, they take a picture of them before but not of the whole body. I would buy the memorial photo if it was the whole body photo taken. Another thing is that it's a religious place and tourists don't understand it. It was going on a mass in the cathedral our lady appeared under the christ and had people speaking out loud. I don't think this price is worth R$128.00. It's too expensive. An acceptable price for this attraction would be R$75.00.

The ticket was really quite confusing. The confirmation received said that the etickets needed to be redeemed from one address and the tour started at another address (the train station) this caused lots of confusion with our taxi driver (and us) as he was insistent that the tickets should be collected from the train station… he was right! So not sure why this wasn’t clearer on the confirmation ….The fast track just allows you to jump the line on the way up to the Christ The Redeemer but not jump the queue to return so it’s not great. The queues were not long when we went so we didn’t really benefit but if long queues then it would be worth it x Thee Christ The Redeemer was well worth a visit though.

"No line" only on the rise, on the descent takes line normally but on the day we went until it didn't take long. However, the queues are very disorganized after checking the tickets. Rising in Christ, extremely crowded, lacks a maintenance. The view is very beautiful.

We arrived just before check-in time(7 a.m.) and were completely shocked by the busyness of the train station. It was extremely disorienting and disorderly. The staff were attempting to direct customers to the appropriate queues but were struggling with that task.
Maybe half of the staff decided not to show up that day.
I purchased a “fast track pass” and expected to skip the line with my ticket; however, I was directed to join two different queues before I was able to get on the train. Now, this would not irk me, but I noticed people walking in without a ticket and purchasing a ticket and ending up getting in front the queue ahead of me. I purchased my ticket 2 months ago, and for someone to stroll just to get ahead of me isn’t a nice feeling.
Finally, I was able to get on the train and made our way up. I was a little perturbed on my way up due to the lack of organisation I first encountered. I thought with my early ticket I would be one of the first people up there with the passengers on the train. This was not the case. Ended up seeing an overcrowded area with hundreds of people attempting to take pictures with the Redeemer statue. This was not the serene experience I was expecting and deeply saddened by this incident. When selling tickets for a place like this, it is imperative that there is control and time slots with an allocated amount of people in the area— for health and safety reasons and having the ability for the people to enjoy the experience. This just makes me think this place has been set up just to grab as much money from tourists. It’s a shame.

This admission ticket was worth the extra money. We visited the Christ Redeemer close to high peak season. We reached the Corcovado train at about 9 am on monday morning, and the train queue waiting time was already 2h -2,5h long. With this admission ticket, we practically walked to the next train and got up to the statue.
The day would have been even more exhausting without this ticket.

We had a Portuguese/English speaking tour guide who easily took my phone online voucher ticket which was connected to a time and changed it into voucher to get on the train. He took us to the line and sat us in the seats best to see the views which only a local or tour guide would know. 20 min beautiful train ride. You could wait in an elevator line or go up about 150 easy steps to the top. The statue took my breath away and so did the views. Inside was a small room where it looked like there was going to be some type of religious service. My only negative was way too hot and crowded. I was ready to go back down on the train which because of our guide got onto the train quickly and did not have to wait too much because he waited for us while we viewed everything.

It is a tour that is very worth it if it is a sunny day, as it will allow you to see the stunning view of the city of Rio de Janeiro. We bought tickets in the first hour, it was a Monday and still it was full! To take pictures up there is quite difficult, few lent to be honest, due to the amount of people disputing the same square meter. But, still, I highly recommend the walk.

Everything went perfect as described on the page, you arrive immediately put your bracelet and move to the first train I threw more than 2 hours of queue. And that I went early in non-peak hour, boiling was more. It's worth treating you out of 10.

Staff are not welcoming to parents with babies.
We saw parents with a baby between 2 and 4 months old sleeping in the maxi cozy, the staff asked them to close the push and take the baby in their arms to take the train!
After moving with the baby, the staff woke up the baby who continued to cry non-stop!
They kept the tickets, we confirm this because we saw everything, because we were right behind the parents! And on the way back, we had a hard time, we stayed with the parents to help them, since the agent didn't give them the tickets, the staff took charge of them for the return trip! And this time no need to close the yo-yo stroller!
In fact, there is a corner reserved for the wheelchair, the staff will ask the person with reduced mobility to get up and close their wheelchair!
No empathy and no human!
Lack of organization compared to “PAINT DE SUCRE” which is very well organized!
Ultimately, very poorly organized, no room at all to move around, everyone steps on each other's toes and no shaded area to shelter from the sun which is very strong!
The worst, there are a lot of women and girls dressing in bikinis, bras and thongs in front of the eternal, God and Jesus Christ where is the respect! The staff should impose a dressing code to come and present themselves before God and Jesus! The staff is not shocked but we are, as are the family!
You go to church in a thong, bra and/or bikini!

We booked the vouchers online, in order to skip the line on the first sunny day of the week. If you chose the first train of the day (8am) there’s no skipping the line, since there aren’t too many people, but you have to be there at 7.30am to get your tickets. The boarding begins at 7.45 and the train takes about 20min to bring you all the way up. There will be a train every 20min, bringing about 200 people every time.
Once in the top, there will be a lot of running of people who want to be the first taking a picture in front of the Christ. If you don’t care about that, don’t worry, because you can take good pictures with the Christ as well. The view on the whole city is stunning.
So buy the tickets online and get there fast.
