The tour begins when the schooner leaves the Nautical Terminal towards the first island. A contemplative journey within the Baía de Todos os Santos, at the exit we have the São Marcelo Fort, the city of Salvador seen from the sea, the Itapagipe peninsula, Monte Serrat Fort, the Bonfim Church and other attractions. We head towards Ilha dos Frades where calm, crystal clear waters invite us to take a swim, there are natives as well as a snack and a cold drink, we stay for around 2 hours. Next we go to Itaparica Island. Where we will have lunch at a restaurant on the beach, a buffet with good homemade food. Then just relax on the sand or warm waters of the Itaparica sea. At 3:30 pm our guide begins boarding. On the way back, you can enjoy the sunset at our Todos os Santos Bay. Time: SSA-Frades 1:40; Frades-Itaparica 0:40; Itaparica-SSA 1:10. Note: Tours purchased less than 12 hours after boarding are subject to consultation only. DOES NOT INCLUDE: Boarding fees in Salvador and entry to Ilha dos Frades; Meals and drinks.

We booked an English speaking tour but almost all explanation were in Portuguese only. We reminded the guide more than once to please speak English with us, however his English speaking skills had room for improvement. If you pay the taxes and the island entrance fee (total 45R$ p.p.) with card, you have to pay 55R$ (so better to bring cash). The boat takes you to a private beach with three restaurants. We were asked immediately after the arrival to place an order for the overpriced food (e.g. 40R$ for a portion of fries). In return, the umbrella on the beach is for free. The beach is very nice und the crew asked several times of everything was okay ("todo bem?") so we appreciated the effort but all in all this tour is not worth the price.

      Good experience..but!
Nice beaches and good transfer. There wasn’t enough beach buggies to accommodate everyone in the tour and communication wasn’t very smooth.

      Disappointing
We spent five hours in a bus as opposed to enjoying more time at Praia do Forte e Guarajuba. Far too many pick ups all over the city. We've Benn told to be ready at 7.20am and ended up arriving ar Praia do Forte which is 60km away from Salvador at 10.30am. It feels to me that they just want to take as many passengers as possible regardless of the area they are staying. Very disappointing service.

Great unexpensive way to spend a day in Praia do Forte and Guarajuba beaches
The experience was great. The hotel pickup was very convenient and both the driver and the guide Thiago were very nice, friendly and respectful and with great content on the history and location. The morning time at Praia do forte was a bit rushed (I decided to do both snorkeling and Tamar project), but if only one is chosen then it would have been more relaxed. The snorkeling activity was okay, not entirely happy with the pictures I was sent and they should perhaps organise it better because other people on the way kept scaring all the fish when I was had my pictures taken. The Tamar project was very nice with a 40 min guided tour. Praia de Guarajuba was beautiful and we spend there about 3h. The facilities were very nice and pleasant too (see pictures added).

An amazing cruise near spectacular Salvador!
Wow! I rarely write reviews, but must rave about this incredible cruise to two amazing islands near Salvador Brazil: Islã dos frades and Itaparica. The boat is lovely, staffed by a smiling, courteous team who make amazing drinks with fresh fruit while playing Brazilian music on drums and tamborine. Islã dos frades has crystalline water and Itaparica is a lovely place to stop for lunch and enjoy local history. The tour agency was great, and have us all the information we needed, along with a reminder about check-in the night before. Our kids loved the entire day as much as we did. We would highly highly recommend this cruise to anyone looking for an amazing day in Brazil.

      Poor Communication Steals the Day
Unfortunately choosing this tour was a disaster, even if Ilha dos Frades is a beautiful place. I tried repeatedly to book several days in advance via TripAdvisor, but I was rejected for lack of a Brazilian CPF. I ultimately was able to book directly on De Boa’s website the night before, but I missed the fine print that reservations must be made 12 hours in advance (I was 10.5 hours in advance). I don’t understand why the website let the booking (and my payment) go through if this is the policy. I tried to confirm directly with the tour company in the morning, but I didn’t receive a response for over two hours, by which time the boat was already boarding. The guide then told us, as we were getting on the boat, that our trip was cancelled due to “bad weather,” and that we were taking a different route instead. Rather than five hours at Ilha dos Frades, we would have only two. We were not offered a refund as is claimed in the description. At midday we were able to negotiate with the guide (who had disappeared as soon as we arrived at the island), who said we could stay later and take another boat back. Unfortunately, returning to the boat terminal, waiting in line, and negotiating with him ate up an hour of our day, and ultimately the boat we took to return was smaller and not so seaworthy. Many people were having panic attacks and all the passengers were soaked as we ran into the “bad weather” for which our tour had supposedly been canceled in the first place and for which we were not offered reimbursement. When I contacted De Boa again that night, the owner told me “thankfully everything worked out.” I disagree. All of this could have been avoided with better communication—I would have happily accepted a refund if he had answered my communication in the morning and told me that he could not honor the reservation because I had made it too late and because the travel would be unsafe. Rather than book with De Boa or a similar company, we recommend taking the brief ferry from Madre de Deus to the other side of Ilha dos Frades. Business owners on the island informed us that De Boa and other tour companies do what I described all the time.

4+ hour Tour of Salvador Hotel Parking Lots would be a better title for this excursion
I think you'll find, my reviews are balanced and informative, so I've never said this about a travel provider or excursion before: This one is irredeemably AWFUL. The logistics of this trip make absolutely no sense except to line the pockets of a money-grubbing tour operator. Ultimately, while the Tamar project was interesting and the ice cream at Praia do Forte delicious, the beach at Guarajuba was just so-so by our standards and the restaurant there was more touristy than tasty, and there really wasn't a lot of educational information such that the "guiding" provided much additional value. So I would probably give only a moderately-positive or mediocre review even if the logistic had been wonderful... and they absolutely were not. We understood this excursion to be 8 hours long. I even contacted the company in advance to confirm the departure time and tour length so we could safely book evening plans, but they never provided a clear answer. But when we were told pick-up would be before 7am, I figured we were safe to make dinner plans (spoiler alert - we were not). We were picked up in the Pelourinho neighborhood at 6:45 a.m, and then proceeded to drive around for MORE THAN 2 HOURS picking up other passengers (we were the 2nd pick-up of maybe 20?). We picked up the last passenger, still in Salvador, at 9:05 am and then BEGAN the 1.5 hr trip to Praia do Forte. Our guide, Vladamir was oblivious for awhile, but once he understood our frustration and our evening conflict, he did what he could to help. We were the only English-speakers on the tour of at least 30 (so no fast-friends made from commiserating), but Vlad's English was excellent, and I believe his recaps for us were complete. And he was apologetic that we had not been given clear information about the trip logistics and seemed to share our dismay about how much of the day consisted of hotel pick-ups. Unfortunately, he also confirmed that the order of drop-offs would be in reverse so if we stayed with the tour, we would waste another 2+ hours at the end of the trip before arriving back to our accommodations. He offered to help us arrange alternate transportation (at our cost), but at the end of the day, we had the bus drop us off as soon as we got back into Salvador (near the mall and airport) and we took an Uber back to our accommodation (the best ~USD5 we spent that day) to save us the 2+ hours of driving around. We still missed our dinner reservation, but thankfully made it to the theater performance that followed.

Could have been done alone, overpriced
I honestly don’t understand what we paid for with this booking. on top of the booking fee, we paid for the return boat fare, fee to enter the island, a tax, a very expensive lunch, all drinks on the boat and tip for the music. It could have been done alone. The boat was so slow too, the three hour journey back was unbearable.

      The operator cancelled last-minute
The operator cancelled the tour in the early hours of the morning, supposedly because of the weather but I didn’t understand this reason as the weather was fine. It was too last-minute to book another tour so it was essentially a wasted day of holiday

      Don’t use this company
Everything promised in this tour is a lie Not only did we not get an english speaking tour guide as promised (no one spoke english and wouldn’t even use google translate to tell us anything ), we went to two islands not the one as said on the tour. We wanted to spend several hours on one island which is why we booked this specific tour . It says music is included but they ask for money for the band so it isn’t included. Very disorganized. They said 3 hours on each island but it was 2. I would not recommend. Save yourself the money and go on your own. Also I wouldn’t Call the boat a schooner. I asked for a refund and they are saying we got on the wrong boat at the wrong time. This is a lie . We showed up to the dock at the time asked for us to come and were pointed to a boat.

I had a good time overall and enjoyed going to the two islands. My only complaint is that it was advertised that there would be an English interpreter, that's one of the reasons why I decided to do this trip, and there was not, no one spoke any English and I only speak very basic portuguese. It was difficult to make it through the terminal and understand when the boats were leaving from the various islands. I understand that this is a Brazilian company and English isn't the norm, but it was advertised that there would be someone speaking English, and there was not. I couldn't fully enjoy, for worry of being left behind. I Also wasn't fully aware that I would be expected to pay for lunch at one of the stops. It is fine, I just wasn't fully prepared. Other than that, I did enjoy myself, the music was fun, the scenery was beautiful and it was great to see this part of Salvador.

Good afternoon, In fact there was a communication error and the guide was not informed that there was an English speaking person. When you called us, we called the guide and asked him to look for you according to the guide, which was done, but we were at the end of the tour. We apologize

Unfortunately not so good, I made sure that the tour was available in English (I don't speak Portuguese) but unfortunately the guide only spoke French as a foreign language, not much was explained on the trip, other passengers had to translate the reunion times for me, time limits were not adhered to and most of the time I waited pointlessly for almost an hour for departure, the music was good but in the end you had to pay for it, the only fruit I got was a bite-sized piece of mango (that was it), the ship just dropped all the passengers off at a touristy and very crowded beach where there were expensive places under umbrellas and expensive food and drinks, hardly any opportunities to explore the places visited on your own

Positive: we saw dolphins twice in All Saints Bay :)

Overall, unfortunately not a positive experience and not recommended for the price.

    the good :

nice beaches and the boat was a good vibe

    the not so good :

the operators at the beginning didn't accept the ticket i bought online and forced me to buy another on entry

the "guide" changed his stance on whether he spoke english or not multiple times, apparently only speaking it when it involved me paying for something

was ignored by staff multiple times when they did the rounds for fruit / drinks

don't bother with this trip unless you're brazilian or plan on going with one.

Good afternoon, We tried to find out what happened in the terminal with our boarding team and were informed that you did not want to pay the boarding fee. These terminal boarding fees, which cost R$20.00, and the entry fee to Ilha dos Frades, which costs R$25.00, are not included in the tour. On viator it says "Excluding boarding/airport fees", which are these fees. One day before the tour we sent information detailing the meeting point, time and fees that need to be paid upon boarding and on Frades Island, you and all other customers received this information. Our staff tried to speak to you during the tour, but you seemed to ignore us. As you noticed, we have several customers on the vessel and we try to serve everyone. Thank you

Thr excursion was timely. The rides from the city to the islands is about 2 hours each way. The crew was awesome, the drinks were great and the live band was on point. Make sure you are wearing clothes and shoes for water.

We were at the harbor 25 minutes before our scheduled departure (8:30), but the schooner left at 8 a.m. We were then able to spontaneously take the next one. That was really great. The islands are wonderful and worth it.

Unfortunately, the guide only spoke Portuguese. But we would still do it again.

Very important: The entrance fee/tax for the island can only be paid in cash. We were not given this information beforehand.

Our day started cloudy and with rain! Almost everyone on board wired swimsuits and coverup or board shorts but the rain coming into side of boats was a bit of a nuisance even though they had plastic tarps brought down to help guests not get wet, rains drain onto seats. There was a group of Brazilian musicians on board which made the trip delightful but beware they are independent band that expect “donations” of at least R$25 and we didn’t have any cash /reais with us and offered R$5 ready which is nothing but they rejected that, maybe they got offended but we didn’t gave PIX which is similar to Venmo in the states! Oh well 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🥱

Once we arrive at first stop island called “Ilha dos Frades” Nice calm beach with clear warm water to bath in. The ocean water was very shallow and allowed us to go far into ocean which was cool. For worn all there will be local vendors selling drinks and if you’re an American with dollars every item is pretty inexpensive. In fact everything in Brazil is very inexpensive and your dollars go along way!

We left that island to Itaparica island to have lunch. It cost us $15/pp (R$75/pp) and lunch although visually looked good it was not tasty. Bahia is known for their fish dishes but unfortunately at this location the fish had bones and smelled fishy could not eat it. Ended up sticking with chicken stroganoff with white rice was good; beef was so tough, and beans were good but that it.

I hate that we were forced to go there instead of another place.

The views were gorgeous and the boat trip had a great vibe, the buffet was tasty too. However, we were told our tour guide for the boat and the city tour would speak English, when in fact, they did not. So I would not recommend to English language only customers.

According to instructions, I came to the meeting point at 7:30. There was nobody from the operation De Boa. After some time, one of the workers at the terminals have managed to call one of the workers of De Boa. He said that the tour has been cancelled due to poor weather. No other previous information has been sent about the cancellation. No information about the return of the money has been sent either during the same day nor later. After I returned to the hotel I phoned the agency De Boa and they confirmed that the tour has been cancelled. When I said that the tour has already been paid, the guy said that the money will be returned. Until now I have not received any written info about this. This is no way to treat the customers.
I demand the return of the money.

The schooner left from the Terminal Náutico da Bahia, where it was necessary to pay a tax of R$25. The first stop on Ilha dos Frades (at Ponta de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe) required payment of an "access fee" of R$25. The trip information advised of the second fee, but not the first. The beach at Ponta de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe is really lovely. There is a proper dock for easy disembarking and re-boarding. The second stop, on Ilha de Itaparica, required passengers to transfer from the schooner to small boats, and then to wade ashore through very shallow (and very warm) water. We had lunch at that stop. The schooner trip on Baía de Todos os Santos (All Saints Bay) was relaxing and the views really grand. A wonderful experience!

Perfect! The interaction with the passengers and crew was the perfect point to make the trip perfect, the Guide told the History of each Island and as a Solteropolitan I had never heard it before, next time I would be with you! Ah, the samba group was lively in every situation! It was so good! 🤗🤗🤗
