About
Muddy confluence of the Klang and the Gombak rivers, is the historical chronicle of Kuala Lumpur.
During this tour, you will cycle along the banks of the Klang River towards Brickfields, or Little India, a lively city enclave on beautifully constructed cycle paths. The cycle paths were constructed to encourage cycling in Kuala Lumpur.
Feel the vibrant city life and its historical elements combined with the tranquillity of the meandering river.
Of course, the guide will stop at various highlights. For instance, be surprised at Lorong Yap Ah Loy, named after a Chinese leader who helped to rebuild the city after a civil war and disasters.
Before you reach the colourful street of Little India, visit the Buddhist Maha Vihara Temple with the three large statues of Buddha.
As you cycle further, you pass the Ashram Vivekananda, named after the yogi who brought yoga to the West, among other things.
Halfway through this tour you can enjoy a banana-leaf rice meal at an Indian restaurant.

- marjorys20250 contributionsBest thing to do in KLThe highlight of our stay in Kuala Lumpur. Getting a feel for the city without being in a car stuck in traffic, the bike tour is the way to go. Charles was an excellent guide, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for the city, he spoke to the history, the architecture and things that make KL so vibrant. You would not see one quarter of these things on foot. Very flat riding and only 16 kms so not an onerous ride but just a great way to see quite a bit in four hours. Charles was an amazing tour guide but he assured us that all of Mikes’s Bikes tour guides are exceptional! Do not miss this unique opportunity.Written 16 January 2025
- Patrick P0 contributionsA great way to see a bit of KL you won't normally see! What hospitality! Charles was our guide, energetic, enthusiastic, and took care that everyone had the best experience. - klbn0 contributionsDo this tour!Bala and Hing were amazing guides for our tour as their knowledge and care for our safety were excellent. We rode 13.5km through Kampong Baru and the city itself, visiting Salom Bridge, wet and fruit & vegetable markets, a mosque, a Chinese Temple, Independence Square, the River of Life and much more. Our 10am brunch was tasty and plentiful, and our last stop in front of the Twin Towers provided a fantastic photo op. Hing took photos the whole way and shares these with you at the conclusion of the tour. We even met 'Mike' as he was there when we returned. We learnt so much about KL from the passionate guides and thoroughly recommend this tour.Written 12 January 2025

- Connector170887105840 contributionsA Fun Way to See KLA great way to see KL and gain a little local insight and knowledge from our experienced guides. I was slightly nervous beforehand about negotiating the chaotic traffic but the route kept mostly to side roads and on the few busy roads we encountered, the guides gave us clear instructions which kept us safe. Very enjoyable and well worth doing.Written 9 January 2025
- AdventurerS360 contributionsIncredible, Authentic and Inspiring tour around KLThis tour, led deftly and safely around KL by Hing from MikeBikes, was wonderful. He shared with passion and detail about Kampung Bahru, an important plantation community and its biodiversity. We explored bustling Chow Kit market and enjoyed Malaysian fruits. I feel I gained so much from hearing about the real Malaysia, and the importance of Merdeka, independence square for the country. Hing took time to explain so many details and it was clear how embedded he is within the community and this is testament also to the social good MikeBikes gives back from healthcare to schooling. So yes, I learned so much from this authentic experience its one of my top travelling highlights ever. Dont miss it.... Id say for the 4 hour ride best if you are a fairly experienced cyclist...go for it.Written 8 January 2025

After seeing an advert about this company and doing some online research I decided the foodie pit stop tour would be a terrific way to end the last day of my 2 month travels.
I was immediately welcomed by the crew and lucky to have my own tour guide Joseph for the tour that lasted 4.5 hours, between 5:30pm - 10:00pm (unfortunately the time went too quickly)! I was catered for extremely well being a vegetarian and meant that we made it up as we went along. We stopped off at many places along the way, whether it be to learn about the history or eat and I felt really safe on the bike in the traffic / rain and back lanes. The bikes are modern, work efficiently and are comfortable.
I can’t recommend this tour enough for those that want to explore the city in more detail and also taste yummy food that they wouldn’t normally stumble across. The other tours MikeBikes offer also look really good but where food if offered I’m there.
Thanks again for having me!

Hi,
What a great recommendation! Thanks a lot! We are very pleased that you have experienced the Pitstop Foodie Tour in this way. You were clear as a vegetarian what to eat and what don't to eat. Jospeh, just like the other guides, will take efforts that you will get an positive unforgettable cycling Pitstop. Restaurants are chosen based on quality food and hygienic. The bikes are reliable and the guide(s) makes sure that you will cycle in a safe way through different parts of the metropole.
Thanks a lot! Best regards, Team MikeBikes.

The foodie tour was just amazing! All the guides were extremely nice, helpful and chatty troughout the entire trip. The bikes are very good and the food at the pit stops was excellent. As an “experienced bike tourer” I can honestly say this was probably my best biketour experience so far in southeast Asia.

I did the Pitstop Foodie tour on Monday 11 July and it was a fantastic experience! First of all, cycling around the city is a great way to get around. Then the food stops encompassed the different cuisines you’ll find in KL, of which there are many, and my tour guide Hing did a great job of explaining the history and top dishes per stop and pushing me to try new things (but I did ask for this, he always checked first!)
Hing was a great guide around the city and I felt really safe under his leadership, he was also excellent company at the dinner table. After a chat about what I wanted to experience he moulded the tour to make sure I got the most out of it so we also squeezed in some sights as well. I honestly can’t recommend this tour enough. Hing was a brilliant companion/leader/guide and made the whole thing unforgettable, a must-do if you’re in KL and into your food!

Hi Kathryn...
What a wonderful review! And thanks a lot for your recommendation!
Indeed, cycling around the city is fun, flexible, you can see many areas in a relative short time and with a local tourist guide it's safe and you get lot of interesting stories about the city and Malaysia.
Hing is brilliant, just like all the other guides. He is passionated and makes sure everything runs smooth. The diversity in meals is adjusted to the different cultures in the City of Contrasts and Diversity. You will get an explanation of the different types of food and ingredients. The guide will always inform what your preferences are and will take notice of that.
All routes have been designed carefully with safety as a priority so that guests don't need to bother about the traffic and can fully pay attention to their experience in a fun way.
Again, thanks a lot for your review. As you probably know the profits of MikeBikes, including your revenues, will mainly flow back to the locals and local communities! Thanks!
Best regards,

We took the foodie tour and were guided by Hing. What an amazing experience and tour it was. Hing led us (safely) to different places he knows places as a local for the best treats. Chinese, Indian and Malaysian excellent food. And he was not bothered to fit the tour to our wishes. Besides food he also tells a lot about the city and the malaysian culture. Thanks Hing and Mike bikes for the amazing tour. A lot of fun.

Hi steinvdz,
Superb! Thanks a lot for your wonderful review!
Hing is, just like the other local tourist guides, an expert in guiding you through the capital. He knows a lot of places and interesting stops where he will tell about the culture and history of the city and country.
There are several restaurant selected for the Pitstop Foodie Tour. Hing will show you the differences in dining at a Chinese restaurant and also Malay and Indian food. It's very tasteful and many guests, just like you, who did this tour were enthusiastic.
Again thanks a lot!
Best regards,

Lovely tour. Fun to bike in this city and stop at nice places to taste different foods from different cultures.
Our guide Andrew was very enthusiastic and a pleasure to have us guiding this city.
If you love to taste different foods, this tour is for you. The focus is a little more on riding to different restaurants then on locations in the city. If you really would like to focus more on biking or site seeing, one of the other tours would be more appropriate.

Hi allardk2...,
Thanks for your positive review and the 5 stars!
The Pitstop Foodie Tour. is a specific tour to taste different cultures in food around the inner city. Most of the stops are at selected restaurants where you will get the explanation of the different types of food by the local tourist guide, in your case Andrew. The local tourist guide is knowledgable about and familiar with the food. He knows exactly where to bring you and take into account any preferences of the guests.
Thanks again!
With kind regards,

We found out that The foodie tour has been implemented since a few weeks and luckily for us we could experience this tour with Andrew and Mike as our tourguides! Really enjoyed with them as we visited some ancient restaurants which are preserved by generations. Beautiful to see the passion and taste the ambiance. The food was very good as we have visited a Chinese, indian, Malaysian restaurant and a bakery. Thanks to MikeBikes for this experience! Absolutely recommended if you are in Kuala Lumpur!

Hi G3561...,
Thanks a lot for this review and you recommendation!
Indeed, the Pitstop Foodie Tour has a new route with interesting stops. As usually, the stops at the restaurants are typically for Malaysia, diversity of cultures and meals. So as well Chinese food, as Malay and Indian meals are included to taste the delicious variety.
Andrew and Mike, just like all other local guides, will explain and provide some background information about the ingredients during the stops at the restaurants.
Thanks for your recommendation!

If you want to get to know Kuala Lumpur in a special, different way, take a bike tour with MikeBikes. Mike is a nice and enthusiastic Dutchman who organizes fantastic bicycle tours. Led by locals who not only know a lot about the city and its history, but also talk about it with pride and passion. We were lucky enough to go out with Hing. An evening tour of sights in the old part of Kuala Lumpur, combined with food at various places. What a beautiful experience! Not least thanks to Hing, who knows a lot about the city, its history and culture. What knowledge and passion! We had a great evening, learned a lot, and had a delicious meal. Thank you Hing! You provided the perfect ending to our holiday and gave us an unforgettable experience in 4 hours.

I really enjoyed this tour with Selle who lead us through areas of Kuala Lumpur city I would never had discovered, very insightful tour visiting Hindu, Buddhist and Taoist temples and then venturing into little India dining at a restaurant for banana leaf rice. We took a variety of back streets, river side paths and main roads. I was impressed with the safety as we wore hi-vis vests and Selle lead our small group using hand signals to indicate certain actions like hazards, left, right, slow and surprisingly also commanding traffic with her whistle. it’s a recommendable tour so go for it …

We had an absolutely fantastic time with MikeBikes in Kuala Lumpur! We joined the bike tour with food, and it was simply amazing. Everything was incredibly well-organized from start to finish, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
Our tour guide, Charles, was an absolute gem! He was so kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about the city. He shared so many interesting facts and stories, which made the tour not only fun but also very insightful.
The food was delicious, giving us a real taste of the local cuisine. Riding through the vibrant streets of KL while stopping to enjoy authentic dishes was the perfect combination of adventure and culture.

What a beautiful tour. You can taste the multiculturalism of Malaysia in this tour. Authentic food in beautiful places alternated with fun cycling. Delicious snacks from Chinese cuisine, followed by delicious pastries. The pastries have a story that was naturally told. Then tasty treats from India and finally a real Malaysian specialty with fruit juice. This under the guidance of Hing, absolutely fantastic. Thanks MikeBikes!

Hi an4720,
