About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- jaclynmN1076GC0 contributionsPassionate tour guide catered 100% to our needsTK was exceptional, clearly passionate about what he does, catered the tour to us. We had a long day of travel and were exhausted by the time we arrived to KL and he could tell and was accommodating, informative, and hit the highlights for us at a pace that worked for us so we could turn in early. All the food stops were interesting and delicious and I loved the history he shared about the cuisine. Would highly recommend!!Written 6 March 2025
- Anne N0 contributionsBest tour ever!We would give this tour 11/10 if we could. It was the best tour either of us have ever done - it was like having your friend show you their home town. We saw so much and learnt a lot. The car was very comfortable for the drive to Malacca. Even though it was a 2 hour drive, the time flew. Akmal was very attentive, even paying for our toilet stops, and adapted the tour to suit us. Honestly, he is the most lovely and friendly tour guide we have struck. I can honestly not think of anything that would improve this tour, and highly recommend it to everyone! He even had an umbrella for shade for us and waited whilst we shopped for clothes. The lunch was out of this world and Akmal's suggestions were fantastic. We spent the whole day with a smile on our facesWritten 13 February 2025
- Pete T0 contributionsGreat experience using with localsFaris was a brilliant guide. We did the 5 food tasting of KL street food. Faris was both interesting and informative and I would recommend him for anyone wanting a great guide and great food.Written 5 February 2025

- JurVerdijk0 contributionsFood tour with TKOur tour was given by TK, It was a very nice experience. TK is such a friendly guy it made us feel like we were shown around by a local friend. We learned a lot about the food, KL, and the country. During our Malaysia trip we kept having contact with TK, in every town he helped us find great places to eat! Thank you!!Written 26 January 2025
- francescabK2452DZ0 contributionsGreat tour and introduction to our first time Kuala Lumpur tripOur guide, Brendon, was very friendly, funny and personable..and understanding, because we were 30 minutes late to our meeting point due to us getting lost using the MRT & LRT. We were able to commutator with him via text & phone call. He was also very knowledgeable in KL historical interests area and introduced us to many foodie places where we can return ourselves later to try the foodies. We will definitely recommend this tour to our friends….Written 21 January 2025
- larrysF9458TS0 contributionsFun and KnowledgeableMy wife and I spent a half day with Hoopy, traveling to Batu Caves and, an add on, Federal Territory Mosque. Hoopy was knowledgeable and fun to be with. Our visit to Batu Caves was the main purpose of the tour, but when we ended up seeing the Caves sooner than expected, Hoopy added a visit to Federal Territory Mosque. It was a welcome addition to our visit to Kuala Lumpur.Written 18 January 2025
- 655stanislawd0 contributionsA great pruvate tour in KL, highly recommend the guide! We enjoyed the tour with Brendon very much. He is a very intelligent, polite, nice and funny guide and he showed us more than I believed was possible. He also waited for us for almost 30 mins because were late, but still spent full 4 hours with us, and even modified the tour on the go due to some rain. In only 4 hours we Brendon we have been - showed historical sites, with interesting intro into British rule and Malaysian independence, including the stories on how present malaysian scyscrapers are still driven by history - walked through streets of China Town and Little India, and explained how prayers in the Chinese temple work - given the taste of pandan (malaysian plant) - offerred to taste real hand made food (incl. paus), new hipster malaysian matcha and local ice cream - showed multiple fantastic photo places, incl. multiple street art sites AND different rooftop view platforms on Petronas - guided by Brendon through mqny interesting streets, and told fascinating stories about Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia - showed where can we buy gifts for our friends - and many more. Brendon also took care of our transportation within KL and even showed us a badminton store (badminton being my hobby). A great tour, a great guide.Written 4 January 2025
- Ram S0 contributionsGreat intro to Malaysian foodEven prior to the meeting Siddoz was very prompt with messages and tailored the tour as per our needs. This was my third visit to Malaysia and I think I knew most about Malaysian food. However within the first 2 dishes quickly proved me wrong. We went from stall to stall - each hand picked for what it was great at - and we got to try some great dishes from the differnt ethnic groups that make up the Malaysian population. Would definitely recommend this guide.Written 26 December 2024
- Melissa S0 contributionsReady for an adventure?I told Casey I was relatively fit and adventurous and he did not disappoint with setting up a “off the beaten track” morning for us. We took this tour right after landing in Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately our flight came in at 7:15am and our hotel check in was at 2pm. Even after immigration, customs, breakfast and the long ride from the airport to KL Sentral we still had a good 4 hours to go before check in. So, we booked this tour to help us pass the time.
The only thing visitors should know and the only suggestion I have is that Kuala Lumpur's Central market is quite a massive building and it can be hard to locate your meeting point. After calling our guide, Siddoz it was decided to meet up at the information desk, which is an easy to locate landmark within the Central market. I would suggest that the information desk meeting point should be specified in the ticket.
Other than that though, everything went well. Malay, Indian and Chinese Street food are all located very close to each other near the Central market area and depending on your tastes you can specify what you would like to try and the guide will adjust your tour accordingly.
Our guide, Siddoz knew both the locals and the foods very well and each dish was peppered with tales of the culture and the history from which it originated as well as the context in which different cultures arrived in Malaysia.
In terms of food, i would definitely recommend the curry laksa, nasi lemak and pork buns.
Lastly, if you have food allergies or religious prohibitions from trying certain foods, just remember to inform your guide at the beginning and they will accommodate accordingly.
We booked the tour because we had some time to kill but consider how good our experience was, I would recommend this tour to anyone who comes to KL.

We took the multicultural food tour with May and it was absolutely wonderful! She picked great food and gave us so many tidbits of interesting information about the history and culture, and even gave us many tips on activities to do later on in our stay, both food-related and otherwise. The food was wonderful and I loved that we were able to try places we never would have known about or gone to on our own. There was so much great food that we couldn’t even eat it all and ended up taking some back with us. Even more though, May is genuinely kind, friendly and enthusiastic about her tour and went out of her way to get to know us and tailor our experience to what we wanted and liked. I highly recommend that anyone who wants a knowledgeable, friendly, engaging tour of authentic KL foods should book May and plan to have a great, delicious time!

If you’re visiting Kuala Lumpur and love food, Manjeet Dhillon’s 10 Tastings Food Tour is an absolute must. We’ve been on food tours around the world, and this one with Manjeet stands out as an unforgettable experience, thanks to her knowledge, charisma, and attention to detail.
Manjeet is a true gem—her deep understanding of the local cuisine, culture, and history made this tour more than just about eating. She listened intently to what we liked and tailored the experience to ensure it was perfect for us. Each stop was thoughtfully planned, with just enough time between tastings to savor, digest, and explore the vibrant streets of Kuala Lumpur. Manjeet’s connections in the community were evident, as every shop owner greeted her warmly, making us feel like VIPs wherever we went.
The food itself was exceptional. From the tangy explosion of pani puri to the comforting flavors of beef rendang (minang style), every dish told a story. Highlights included the creamy nasi lemak with northern-style chicken rendang, the buttery goodness of roti canai, and the fragrant curry laksa. Manjeet also introduced us to local fruits like mangosteen, snake fruit, rambutan, rose apple, and longan, which were a delightful discovery. To top it off, the sweet indulgences of pulut tai tai with kaya and pineapple jam tarts perfectly balanced the savory dishes. And let’s not forget the classic kopi C, which gave us a taste of Malaysia’s coffee culture.
What set this tour apart was how Manjeet seamlessly combined food with storytelling. As she walked us through the Central Market and surrounding areas, she shared the rich history of Kuala Lumpur, the stories behind each dish, and the cultural significance of the places we visited. It felt less like a tour and more like being guided through the city by a knowledgeable friend.
If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate. Manjeet deserves more than 5 stars—she’s a 110% must-experience guide who will make your visit to Kuala Lumpur unforgettable. Book with her, and you’ll walk away not only full of delicious food but also with a deep appreciation for Malaysia’s culture and cuisine.

Siddoz clearly has a reputation of the top tour guide in Kuala Lumpur for food, tastings, and this tour
lived up to the hype. Great communication, easy to find the location to meet. we had our two-year-old with us which complicated the plans but our tour guides were thoughtful enough to pick places that would work for her and adjust a tour as needed. Worked extra to make sure we tasted the best Assam Laksa in Kuala Lumpur just the nick of time before they close. Would recommend any first time Kuala Lumpur visitors.

My family had a wonderful time eating our way around KL. Siddoz was a cool, laid-back guide who was perfect for our family. He put the food we ate into a cultural context that helped us understand the people and history of KL and Malaysia. We learned so much, which we appreciated, and ate so much, which we enjoyed. The perfectly curated dining locations were so fun! We loved trying new foods from Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures. Thank you Siddoz!

We had a city tour the day before, the following day now this food tour, a perfect combination.
Manjeet, our guide, took us to places we would not normally have gone. Malaysian, Indonesian and Chinese cuisine, in between exciting drinks and fruit from trusted fruit stands. Each time she explained what it was, what ingredients were processed and how and what was so typical about it.
This tour fills you up and takes you across all tastes. Incredibly good.
I can only recommend this tour, especially with Manjeet, to everyone. You rarely experience so much dedication and consideration.

Reka was an excellent guide who introduced us to a variety of food, history, art, and neighborhoods we would never have found on our own.
We had plenty of food (don't feel you have to eat everything on your plate. If you do, you won't be able to fit in food from all of the stops.
She is very personable and knowledgeable.
I would gladly hire her again.

Multicultural food tour with May
Last month the family made a trip to Kuala Lumpur and were lucky enough to join May for an afternoon of culinary delights and discovery of her wonderful city.
Very easy to deal with May was on the ball with WhatsApp for communication and organisation.
No sooner did we get off the Grab in Chinatown and she had spotted us and off we went wandering the streets. I have no idea how many dishes we tried but the experience was above expectation. Between sitting down in a Mamak and chatting to customers to finger food served in these streets for generations there was something for the whole family. May was very engaging with everyone in our little group and did a wonderful job finding vegetarian options for our kids. The tour was also full of history and hidden gems that really made it one of the highlights of our stay in Malaysia. Thank you May.

It is a nice 2 hours (not 3 hours) walk in China town. Although we paid for 2 people, we were given one portion to share in each place and we had to even cut small deserts by two to try it (I think it was a good saving on us). We went to Indian place, then tried noodles in the market, then tried bacon, 2 fruits and soya desert. On the way, we were also offered an ice cream (was supposed to be shared again with my 15 yo son, but I asked to have two separate). Overall, I think the trip is interesting but overpriced for what it offers, I had to eat when I was back home.

Dear Niyara,
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent food experience in Kuala Lumpur. We appreciate your insights and apologize for any aspects of the tour that fell short of your expectations.
We apologize for the discrepancy in the tour duration. We understand that this may have affected your overall experience, and we will ensure that our tour descriptions accurately reflect the duration going forward. Could you please reach us out directly at info@withlocals.com and let us know your booking ID? Unfortunately, we can not see it here and we do not know who was your host. Thank you in advance.
We regret that the portion sizes provided during the tour were not sufficient for two people to fully enjoy and experience each tasting. We understand your frustration in having to share portions and cut desserts in half. We will review our portion sizes and adjust them to ensure a more enjoyable experience for our guests in the future.
Regarding the pricing, we apologize if you felt the tour was overpriced for the offerings provided. We strive to provide a comprehensive and value-filled experience for our customers, and we take your feedback seriously. We will review our pricing structure to ensure that it reflects the quality and value we aim to provide.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve our services. If you have any further comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly. We hope that you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a more fulfilling and enjoyable food tour experience in the future.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused, and we appreciate your understanding.
Kind regards,
Withlocals team

TK is so knowledgeable, he walked us through the history of the food vendors and what we were eating, altered the tour for our dietary requirements (I’m vegetarian and my husband isn’t) and took us to the best food spots that we never would have found on our own. He was great at giving advice and recommendations for the rest of our stay in KL. Highly recommend!! Thanks for an awesome day TK 😊
