About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kyliashe0 contributionsExcellent guiding Kazz!Kazz was fantastic. He developed an itinerary for us based on our interests and gave us options on the day. His knowledge on all topics we asked such as Buddhism, nature and Japanese history was excellent. Thanks Kazz for a special day!Written 18 January 2025
- Maddy19820 contributionsFantastic guide Izumi! We did this tour with two adults and two children aged 9 and 7. We visited Asakusa, the Tsukiji Fish Market and Ginza. Izumi was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide who shared many interesting facts. The kids were particularly engaged with the fortune sheets at Senso-Ji shrine, including the animated way in which one obtains their fortune. The children also loved ‘Buddha’s Breath’, the incense stand, and the main hall of the temple itself. Shopping for half an hour in Asakusa and trying street food was also a real highlight for us and for the children. The fish market was exciting and vibrant with many places to eat; Izumi helped us find a proper sit down restaurant of high quality (many places in the market are “stand up only”, but our kids needed to sit down). Izumi also provided me with a metro map and explained about the two different ownerships of the different lines - invaluable information (for this reason I recommend doing his tour on day #1 in Tokyo if you can). The whole day was about 2km of walking, give or take, so not too much for littler legs, but we would have struggled to do this tour with a pram (many steps in the metro; having said that, I’m sure Izumi would have a pram strategy!). I hope this information helps you.Written 18 January 2025
- I2238LInickh0 contributionsA great way to see Asakusa areaSuch a great introduction to the city for us. Our guide, Tatsunobu (Ted), took us through the Asakusa area seeing the temples at Senso Ji. Having Ted explain the cultural and religious backgrounds to the Buddhist and Shinto temples made the experience all the more fascinating. We also went through Yanaka and saw the temples at Nezu and stopped for tea at a lovely local shop. I would definitely recommend this tour.Written 18 January 2025

- Vacation617526923590 contributionsExcellent 6 hour walking tour of TokyoWe had the pleasure of having Lily as our guide on a recent visit to Tokyo. Lily was punctual, waiting for us in our hotel lobby before the set departure time, where she gave us a brief explanation of the day's itinerary. During the tour Lily was very informative with excellent knowledge about the sites we visited and their cultural significance. She also directed us to good lunch and refreshment stops along the way. Her English is excellent, she is personable and was happy to share insights about what life is like living in Tokyo. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lily to anyone wanting to do a walking tour of Tokyo.Written 17 January 2025

Our family of four had a fantastic 4 hour tour with Yuko our guide of the Hiroshima gardens, peace park, bomb site dome, childrens memorials and museum. Yuko picked us up from Hiroshima station in the morning and walked us firstly through the beautiful gardens of Hiroshima before heading to the peace park, memorials and museum. All were within walking distance from the train station and we thoroughly enjoyed her knowledge and passionate stories of Hiroshima which she explained in very clear English. She was a delight to spend time with and helped us back to the train station later that afternoon and helped sort our train transport back to Kyoto. She was extremely helpful. Thank you for a most enjoyable and informative day that will be a lasting memory of our Japan trip.

Thank you for your lovely comment. I am glad that you made it back to Kyoto safely. It was the last day of the New Year’s holiday, so it must have been tough for you to be in a train packed with a lot of people. I had an amazing time and enjoyed talking with you. You were very gracious and thoughtful to me, and I felt comfortable during the tour. Please enjoy the rest of your trip in Japan! Yuko

Yoshi was very knowledgeable in the history of Miyajima Island and the Atomic Bomb Domb. His interesting facts made the tour more memorable as having a local guide enables you to learn more of the history of a region rather than wandering around with the crowds and missing the finer details of a certain place or building

I was deeply impressed by your daughter's intelligence and poise. She enjoyed the Okonomiyaki so much that there was nothing left over!
I hope that when she visits Japan again, she will have the opportunity to further explore Japanese culture and language.

Our guide Masayo (Masa) was the best! Her enthusiasm is contagious so she makes you really enjoy every single second of this tour. She met us at 9:30 am sharp and took us in the streetcar to the Ferry departure port, while riding, she shared many stories from Hiroshima, their culture, customs and lifestyle.
Then we took the 10 minute ride on the ferry with an amazing view of the O Tori. Upon arrival, she told us the beautiful story of the Itsukushima shrine and Taira no Kiyomori in a very energetic and interactive form and then took us on a walking tour to the shrine while helping us to take the most amazing pictures (we have a lot of great photographic memories forever).
Then we started the trek to Daishoin Temple while we were absorbing all of Masa's knowledge on each and every detail of the stops making sure to have our picture taken on the most beautiful sights of Japan, you will learn a lot with her while having fun!
Later she took us to have some food and drink so we do recommend to have some fried Oysters, a Miyajima Breweries Beer and some Matcha Sweets all this while roaming around Miyajima Streets full of vendors and souvenir shops.
Special thanks to Masa for her kindness, knowledge and the amazing gift she gave us at the end of the tour (see some pictures).
I highly recommend to take this tour while visiting Hiroshima definitely the Highlight of our Honeymoon!

Thank you for your feedback. Also, thank you for posting it so quickly just after our tour. I’m so happy to hear that my tour has become a special experience in your honeymoon.
I also enjoyed our conversation during our tour. It was the first time to know the common and different thoughts between Christianity and Buddhism with such detailed, scientific explanation especially the system of hell and banning of enshrinement of the statue of the king of hell in Christianity. Such an interesting conversation has given me more knowledge and stirred my curiosity.
I made the paper cranes while wishing for your happiness, because the paper crane is the symbol of peace for Hiroshima locals.
I wish you both eternal happiness.
Sincerely,
Your guide,
Masa.

Our tour guide was absolutely wonderful! The description of the tour is not accurate though, it lists multiple places to go however in the half day tour we were only able to go to Miyajima. You do not need to do a tour in Hiroshima, everything is easily accessible on your own and English descriptions. Essentially the high cost of this tour is not worth it when everything is easily done on your own. It was ridiculous having to pay for the tour guides transport. $120 each should cover everything.

What an incredible experience! My guide, Noriko, was like a trusted friend by the end of the tour. I've never had a guide so prepared (no kidding, she had handouts, several laminated maps, handwritten guides, a quiz, etc.), and she made me feel so welcomed. I learned a ton about Miyajima and I noticed others around us leaning in to learn from her too! Noriko was so wonderful and kind, I highly recommend her as a tour guide to anyone.

Dear my guest,
Thank you so much for such a lovely review for me.
We were lucky enough to have a chance to appreciate the Noh performance in Itsukushima Shrine during the tour.
I was happy to see you looked enjoying the traditional Japanese art very much.
I was also happy you liked Miyajima specialty, grilled conger eels on rice and had a good time at the restaurant, too.
I hope you will be back to Miyajima again and climb the mount Misen in Miyajima someday.
Thank you and best regards,
Noriko

Miyajima was a highlight of our Japan trip not only because of the beauty, tranquility, and spirituality of the island, but also because of our guide, the wonderful Mamiko Sakamoto , a Hiroshima native, who speaks fluent English.
Mamiko went above and beyond expectations.
She was sensitive to our interests and needs.
She brought along a wheelchair which my husband used as the tour proceeded and allowed him total enjoyment in comfort.
Mamiko made prior lunch reservations at a popular restaurant that served a delicious Japanese pancake.
We had the rare privilege of witnessing a traditional Japanese wedding, and even had a photo taken with the bridal couple.
The wedding took place in the Itsukashima shrine, a world heritage site, considered one of the most beautiful places in Japan and the world.
Mamiko took us to the most photogenic points for photo taking, especially of the “floating” torii gate, one of the best known images of Japan. She related the historical details of the island and the shrine, which was built more than 1500 years ago .
Deer wander freely and according to Shinto tradition, are the messengers of the gods.
I highly recommend visiting Myajima with Mamiko as your guide.

We absolutely loved this tour with Masa. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of the island and the way she conveyed it was contagious. She took care of us ensuring that the elderly people in our party were comfortable the whole time and ensuring the best seats on the ferry. She took photos of us and overall made this tour amazing. I don’t think I would have felt the same way with another tour guide. Thank you Masa!!

Dear guest,
Thank you for your quick and positive feedback.
I'm happy to hear you and your tour members enjoyed my tour. Although it was in the middle of the rainy season, we had good weather for the walking tour on the island. I think the deities of the Itsukushima shrine Bless you both with the weather.
I could feel your compassion for the other tour guests throughout our tour.
That made my heart warm.
Please enjoy the rest of your trip in Japan.
Sincerely,
Your guide,Masa.

Months in advance🤨We could not find a better tour guide for this experience . He went well above
Our expectations . His explanations and attention to the details were superb. He saw us having problems Going back from the train station to our hotel and the best surprise was to find him in our bus and personally taking us to the hotel. He even made reservations for us for dinner. We highly recommend this tour specially if Nobu is your guide expert.

Had an amazing experience with our guide Eiji. Eiji took the time to contact us and move the time of our tour to Miyajima ahead of our scheduled time to accommodate the pending rain. It worked out perfect as heavy rain moved in just as we boarded the ferry back to the train station. We had a very enjoyable tour of Miyajima. Such beauty and fall colors were at their peak. Eiji also shared his family’s personal connection to Hiroshima as his grandfather was in Hiroshima at the time the bomb blast. Thanks for all your help Eiji.

I am very happy to hear that you were very satisfied with Miyajima tour.
This is the only time of the year that I am able to show you the park where the autumn leaves are at their peak, so I was especially happy.
Next time you come to Japan, let me guide you other wonderful places in Hiroshima Prefecture.
Thank you again!

Masa was an incredible tour guide. We met her at the Miyajimaguchi ferry terminal and then took the ferry with her across the water to the island. The views of the island from the top of the ferry were breathtaking. Masa guided us on a tour of Itsukushima Shrine and the Daishoin Temple complex. She was really friendly, funny, spoke great English, and was extremely knowledgeable about everything we saw. This tour was an amazing experience and strongly recommended if visiting the Hiroshima area.

Dear My Guest,
Thank you for your message after returning home. I truly appreciate you taking the time to reach out.
I've shared your kind words and feedback about the tour with your tour agency staff at JGA. While they typically support guests behind the scenes and don't directly handle guest testimonials, they were very happy to hear about your positive experience through your heartfelt message.
They wanted me to express their sincere gratitude for your message. It has been a great encouragement to everyone involved in your tour, including myself and the entire staff!
Please do come back to Japan anytime. As I mentioned before, you'll always have a second home here.
In Japanese, "おかえりなさい (okaeiri nasai)" means "welcome back." I hope to see you again soon!
Sincerely,
Masa,
Your Guide.
