I took a modified tour that consisted of the Jewish Cluj tour with Manuela in the morning followed by travel to Simleu Silvaniei and Huedin with Tudor in the afternoon. The trip was informative and enjoyable, and Manuela was kind enough to offer me a stop for tea because I had developed a sore throat.

      I recommend!!!
Tudor was just absolutely amazing, doing this winter hike in Vladeasa with Tudor was the best hike we had done in quite some time Indeed, Tudor had all the extra material needed for us to be able to do this hike safely: ice gaiters, snow shoes, extra back pack even. Also he had for us a lunch made of sandwiches and delicious oranges! As well as some well welcomed hot apple tea. Doing this hike in December allowed us to enjoy a quite magnificent landscape made of snow in a mystic Romanian forest. We met only 4 other hikers during our day there, we were even the first ones walking on this new powder snow where we definitely felt blessed for this type of exclusivity. We 100% recommend Tudor as a guide, who made us feel really safe and thought about everything for us to be able to be back at the car right when the sun set (indeed we hiked on winter solstice). He also took numerous pictures of us and therefore helping us making memories, he has a great spirit full of joy and contagious enthusiasm from the very start! Again, we 100% recommend!!!

      A great day!
Our curly guide Alexander was very inspiring and interesting. the balance of learning about the culture and expreiencing nature on our day trip made it pleasant and exiting. Alexander shared his knowledge but also his passion for his country, and made me really understand Romania much better. Thank you! i strongly advice others to take this trip!

Amazing hike in Cheile Turzii and a nice experience with the zipline.
The guide took us to a route between the rocks of Cheile Turzii. Nice path inside the mini canyon and walking around the river. Rock walls, caves, nature at the bottom of the mountain and stunning views when we got to the top. Overall an amazing experience and we finished our hike by going on a zipline. A very nice activity for adrenaline seekers and not frightening at all.

Breathtaking views, splendid waterfalls and cute little train ride
A wonderful trip with Chrly tours. Tudor is an amazing guide. Took me through a mountain circuit in Scarita Summit. We visited the Sipote waterfall ( beautiful rocks and a mesmerizing waterfall). After we finished the circuit we headed to the waterfall Vânătările Ponorulu. The view while driving and getting to the top of the mountain was breathtaking. The waterfall was spectacular as it was very interesting because it had a pool (not accessible but nice view). And finished the trip with a very nice small train called Mocănița Apusenilor which is situated a little bit higher than the road so you can have a splendid view of the river Aries and the mountains.

      Great hights and stunning views
I haven't been on many trips but this is by far the best I've ever had. We started the trip by visiting the bride’s waterfall and after that, we commenced our trip towards the top of the mountain White Rocks. It is a quite challenging hiking as in some areas is steep and on top of the mountain there are areas where you are exposed. But overall the trip is so worth it. The views are stunning. Honestly it was a once in a lifetime experience.

      Gorgeous views and amazing guide
Tudor is an incredible guide, very kind and knowledgeable, it was a pleasure to do this gorgeous hike with him. The Carpathian Mountains are beautiful and a sight you won’t forget. Tudor also adapts his walks to his group so everyone can have fun and make the most of the tour based on their capabilities. I highly recommend this tour to discover and learn a bit more about the region

      Love it! Until next time!
We had the best time!!…as always! It is our 5th or 6th tour with Curly Guide Tours in the past four years and we keep coming back to them because they are just that awesome: professional, FUN!!, educational and relaxing. In this tour my family got to see amazing views while experiencing hiking the Apuseni Mountains. Tudor has the best personality and he is able to entertain all ages, even the very young explorers. If you decide to book a tour with Curly Guide Tours, I know you will have one of a kind experience to remember forever.

Magical experience, extraordinary landscape, great guidance!
My friend and I are not experienced hikers, and we just wanted a beautiful, slow, botanical hike with a focus on plants, nature and wildlife. Andrei was the perfect guide/host, adapting the pace and route to our rhythm and needs. He is very knowledable and easy going. It was a truly magical day that we will remember always! Thank you Andrei and Curly Guide Tours. I highly recommend this tour.

This makes a great day out, tudor is a very good guide and was very informative. First we went to the turda salt mine which in itself was impressive to look at considering the size of the mine, then from there we went on a hike through turda gorge and even though it was cold it was so refreshing to walk in nature. After the gorge we went to rimetea village and what an amazing village that is, I can see why people were calling it a sleepy village but also the mountains surrounding the village were also amazing the clouds on top of the sleepy giant mountain made it that more special and ambient. The food in the local rimetea restaurant was also very nice and really enjoyed it, the last thing we saw was a monastery which had paintings on the walls and ceilings inside which was all hand painted by the sisters of the monastery, tudor had a lot of information to share about each thing we done and you could see the passion he has in being a tour guide, I would recommend this tour to anyone definitely worth it

My family had an amazing day trip with Tudor. We went to the Turda salt mine first which is incredible and definitely worth a visit. It was great having Tudor guide us around so we saw everything and learnt more than we would have done otherwise. Then on for a walk - Tudor is an expert in finding the perfect hike to suit the group so he took us up to a ruined tower with amazing views and it was perfect even for teenagers who were initially less than enthusiastic to walk anywhere! Tudor provides hiking poles which were useful and also made us look very professional! Next was a walk around the lovely village in Rimetea and we had a meal outside the Romania/Hungarian restaurant - the goulash is delicious and the prices were very reasonable. Then on to a painted convent which was beautiful and peaceful and we finished with a ride on the zipwire at the entrance to Turda Gorge - we requested this as an extra because it was just our family on the trip and Tudor was kind enough to incorporate this. I nearly regretted asking for it when I was at the top but it was good fun and a fantastic end to our trip. Contact Tudor for any trip requests, you won’t regret it, one of the best days of our holiday.

My father and I, together with another couple who also booked this tour, had a great day out with Tudor. He picked us up in time at our place, handed out chocolate and water, and after we picked up the others, he drove us to the salt mine. We spent some time here, with explanations from Tudor about how salt was mined here since long. After the visit to the mine, we had some nice lángos just outside the mine. A short drive later, we walked through the gorge. Even though none of us were experienced hikers, he managed to take us on a nice route through the gorge. We visited the small village of Rimitea and then went on to a restaurant for excellent goulash and beautiful scenery. As we still had some time before dark, we also visited a castle ruin, before being dropped off in Cluj again. Tudor is very knowledgeable and was a pleasure to have as a guide. Highly recommended!

My husband and I had such a wonderful day trip with Tudor! From the minute he picked us up to the end of the day, he made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. This is an excellent choice for a day trip that includes some history (Salina Turda), some nature adventure (Turda Gorge) and some traditional food (dinner at Rimetea Village). Thank you for a wonderful day!

We spontaneously booked the tour two days in advance due to good weather forecast and it was definitely worth the decision!
You will not only be provided with a very detailed tour through Turda's salt mine but also with an exciting hike through the transilvanian landscape. Your local touring guide Tudor will welcome you warmheartedly and give you one of the best experiences to explore the breathtaking nature and culture of Transilvania. That day we took the 9km trail and went through the forests and canyon trails surrounding the local village. Although the trail was a little bit steeper for the first 30mins, the hike is still suitable for people who are less experienced and have only basic equipment. Tudor was very conscious of all participants and supported everyone along the way with enough breaks and clear information about the following steps.
Before the hike you will also have the opportunity to do some activities in the salt mine and afterwards go to a zip line. So it is highly recommended to bring some cash with you :)
Aside from that, the temperature in the salt mine is around 13°C so it would be good to bring at least a lighter jacket with you.
At the end of the tour we also got the opportunity to taste some traditional Transilvanian and Hungarian food in a family-run restaurant, as well as to explore the village along and to buy some nice souvenirs ;)
All in all, we had a very nice day and would definitely do it again!

AMAZING! This is a must if you are visiting Cluj. It was a really memorable day full of so many different experiences. The salt mines were beautiful and Tudor (the tour guide) was really helpful told us so many lovely facts about the place, he also gave us plenty of time to explore the place ourselves too. The boat rides are a must!
Despite the rain during our hike, we actually had so much fun. Tudor had raincoats and walking sticks which helped us out, and he was so patient with some of us that were talking a little bit longer to get up. He also took loads of pictures for us which we’ll cherish forever.
The meal we had was perfect and it was so lovely to eat some traditional dishes. We also visited some gorgeous sites and it was amazing to hear all of the fascinating facts!
I am so glad that I took part in the tour, and suggest that anyone who’s thinking about it should definitely book it!!

My husband and I were visiting Cluj - Napoca and decided to book a day tour. We couldn’t made a better choice! This tour was the highlight of our vacation in Romania and Tudor is the best tour guide!
He was on time, made us feel very welcome from the minute we meet him, very professional, knowledgeable and very passionate about what he is doing.
Everything along this tour was gorgeous and we learned many new things from Tudor.

I booked this to experience a wide variety of what Transylvania has to offer in a short time.

Tudor delivered! From pick up to drop off, offering options along the way but never pressuring the whole group to make same choice for an activity, never singling out anyone for being too slow or too fast, and was flexible so it never felt like he was rushing or skipping over experiences just to stick to a strict schedule. This was especially nice as only two of the five in the group knew each other, the rest of us were all solo travelers.

The 9km hike was the highlight of the day for me. Tudor offered enough rests in both quantity and duration that we all made it to see the great views on top (and along the way) even in 80 degrees F / 27 C. The late afternoon lunch at a small town, family owned restaurant was delicious, well earned and enjoyed.

    Tips:
Bring cash lei for any activities in the mine. Also a warm layer, it’s chilly until you start climbing stairs.

Dress for being active outdoors: hiking shoes, sunblock and hat, etc. Also bring another bottle of water for hike. There are stalls on site before you begin so you can buy more too.

Choose to go into the monastery to see the frescoes. Beautiful!

Don’t plan anything after the tour, unless it’s relaxing with a beverage while checking out your great photos. It takes all day into the evening.

Tudor is a great tour guide! We had so much in the salt mine and even went on the ferris wheel down there! Then we went on a long hike on the mountain above Turda Gorge and then through the Gorge. It was really hard, but worth it and Tudor gave us plenty of breaks and time without rushing us. He can tailor the hike to fit your ability level and your interest. We ended the day at the small village of Rimetea where we had traditional Romanian food that was very good. I would use Tudor as a guide again! It was a very fun day that we will never forget!

Wonderful day spent with Tudor ! This tour is a great way of discovering areas around Cluj if you don't have a car with a guide who clearly loves and knows his country.

The salt mine's caves are impressive in size and I really enjoyed how they created a completely different atmosphere by turning part of it into an amusement park (cash needed if you want to try some of the attractions).

The Rimetea Village and monastery are an out of time experience.

But favorite part of the tour was probably the hike. We even took avantage of the unforeseen bad weather conditions to make a new friend !

I would completely recommand this tour
