Semenggoh Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre situated about a 30-minute drive from Kuching. Here the Orangutans are being nurtured to re-adapt themselves to the jungle life. It is also home to numerous baby orangutan, born in the wild to rehabilitated mothers, a further testament to the success of the program.  You will have to chance to observe the semi-wild orangutans coming out of the forest for the feeding time. Before arriving at the feeding platform, you will have a brief experience walking through the amazing untouched rainforest. As a result of its success, Semenggoh's role has changed and it is nowadays a center for the study of orangutan biology and behavior. A visit to Semenggoh is a once a lifetime experience to see semi-wild orangutan, ranging from tiny infants and boisterous adolescents to dignified mature adults, enjoying life in a secure natural habitat. This tour includes return transfers to your accommodation. You may choose a morning or afternoon departure. Please note: the feeding sessions take place at approximately 9:00 to 9:30am and 3:00 to 3:30pm.

          Beautiful
The short vote ride to the park was very enjoyable. We walked around the beach a little bit and saw very unique rock structures and noticed a few wild bearded pigs walking around. Within the park, we saw a number of different animals like snakes and monitor lizards, I was not fortunate enough to see the proboscis monkey but I believe I will return as I have a few more days here sunblock and mosquito repellent are a must and be prepared for rain which comes and goes there are a number of cool hiking trails and the forest itself is really beautiful with many different trees, some being very unique in that they are covered in spikes. My tour came with lunch, which is a the face style and was pretty good. I'm quite picky and found plenty to enjoy.

This was a nice relaxing sunset cruise. The food provided was good and the staff were attentive. We booked at our hotel who didn't tell us that you need to have your passport no. This is needed for insurance. Fortunately they took my driving licience no as proof .

Great tour with lots to see
We booked a guided snorkelling tour with Borneo Dream as I had read great reviews. They were easy to deal with and communication was prompt. Our group was very small, just my family of 3 plus 1 other. Our guide, Bas, was really friendly and knowledgeable. Without him we would have missed so much! We saw turtles, sharks and a lionfish among others. He knew the types of all the fish we saw. We dived where it was quiet, with no other boats around which I thought was great. Visibility was pretty good on our tour and at times it felt like I was in a giant fish tank. We had a leisurely lunch on an island and all 3 dives were not rushed and plenty of time. It was truly an amazing experience for me.

Review of bako national park and Semenggoh Wildlife Centre
Aloha everyone, You can take red bus 1 in near electric house to bako national park for 1 myr. And one you arrive at the jetty, it's 100 myr one way or 200 myr roundtrip to the park. If u meet 3 other travelers, then the 100myr is divided into 4 or 25 myr per person. Going back can be tricky since all members have leave at the same time. You don't need a guide, all trails are clearly marked. Ironically, we only saw pigs, monkeys- black and probiscis near the visitor center. If you can, spend the night since animals come out early mornings and evenings. For Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, take bus 103. Download Kuching metro to track bus. Finally, make sure you visit the tourism visitor center. They will provide you with detailed instructions.

          Perfect and priceless!
In short - one of the best outdoor activities/ holiday attractions I have been on! Loved the whole trip and staff ( just make sure you take some cash with as there are some charges on the islands and they don’t accept cards ) but other than that it was an amazing trip and would go again ❤️ Highly recommended 👍🏻

          Great to see
Fantastic jungle. But the trails Were over crowded and our tour group of 21 meant it was very hard to hear anything from the guide. Guide shared the absolute minimum information so I would not say enriching visit. Good if you want to look but not if you want to learn anything. There is an issue of plastic garbage everywhere, at low tide you can see the plastic caught up in the vegetation, lots around the buildings, and even watched the wild pigs eating it out front of the cafeteria. I wish I brought a bag to collect garbage as i feel tourists should contribute to the solution. Driver was good and company easy to communicate with. Lunch was satisfying.

There were also a few dancers later in the 90 minutes voyage . Helpful staff - got an orange juice . The views of tne buildings and sites were okay; the river however is filthy . A never ending flow of rubbish passing you by in muddy waters .

I had paid for a driver to take me to the Fairy caves and Wind Caves (highly recommend) I asked him if it was worth me coming here due to it being fruiting season and he said sure let's try. Turned up for the afternoon feeding time, in torrential rain, and was blessed with the appearance of 4 orangutans! All the staff are really friendly, it was a great experience!

I came to Kuching expressly to see this Orangutan Centre and was not disappointed.
I booked through "Ooo Haa Adventure Tours" and the cost was 125RM.
Collected from Ranee Hotel (this was close to where I was actually staying) in a minivan with 6 other travelers. Takes minimum of about 45 minutes to get there and the guide arranges your entry ticket and a ride on a motor train to get to the feeding site.
After a brief introductory talk by a ranger the food is laid out on a feeding platform, and you wait in anticipation.
We saw 5 orangutans (very large male, a smaller male, a juvenile male and a mother and baby - OMG - so excited and privileged.
Apparently, it is sometimes very "hit and mis" as to whether the animals indulge us with their presence and the people who came for the morning feeding session only saw 2 orangutans (but two is infinitely preferable to none).
No complaints about anything - I loved the experience and was thankful to/for the Ooo Haa Adventure Tour.

Excellent place. One can get Grab from City. Better to go in morning feeding time. There is shuttle from ticket area to feeding area. Charges 1RM/adult. January is not good month as it is fruit season hence Orangutans go deep in jungle. We did not see single one. Managementu tried hard to attract orangutan by calling and shouting.

Dear Sir/Madam, We are disappointed that your experience was not pleasant. Semenggoh has always delighted many visitors. The objective of the center is rehabilitate and release Orangutans back to the wild. They do come back during feeding time but when they don't return to the center, they Orangutans have adapted and are able to feed themselves in the forest. We hope to see you again.

The orangutan park was great however the bus picked us up late then we drove around Kuching picking up other visitors for another hour. We arrived gone 230 when the slot was 2-4. Much cheaper and efficient to get a Grab or taxi and pay 35RM for entry yourself.
We were an hour away which was quite far but wouldn't have been as bad if we hadn't had to drive around Kuching.

Very disappointing visit. Whilst there is no guarantee of seeing the gorgeous orangutans we sit through a 20 minute briefing on the do’s and dont’s and then it falls flat because no orangutan in site. Having been to Sepilok we felt this was a waste of time and money. All there was, was a small presentation video room and a few photos - not even a shop to buy stuff, though there was a stall seller in car park. They should make this a more interesting centre if you are unable to see an orangutan. Felt so flat and will not go again.

Dear Sir, Madam, Good Day I am very sorry for your disappointment. Semenggoh Center has been establish since the 1980's , dedicated to rehabilitating Orangutans. having visitor such as your good self contributes to the upkeep of this center. We are truly sorry they were no Orangutans although the Fruit Buffet was set up daily. As the orangutans mature from the rehabilitation program , they are release to the Semenggoh Forest Reserve. Freely to roam the forest canopy and return to the center for a fruit buffet. Fruit trees in the forest with it's scents of different fruit trees may have the Orangutans swinging from tree to trees searching for the fruit. On your next trip to Borneo , please visit Sandakan . Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. We look forward to serve you again.

The work done there by the rangers and the organization is great! They set clear rules about how you should behave and they enforce them! We were lucky and were able to observe several orangs, even a mother with her young. It was just a shame that all the trails were closed, it wasn't stated why. You could only move on the road and enter a path with the rangers.

Dear Sir , Madam Good Day We are happy you have enjoyed this trip. The Park Ranjers briefing of Semenggoh Center daily activities , it's progress with Orangutans surely will captivate every visitor. We humbly thank you for your visit, visitors to Semenggoh contributes to the Orangutans care & medicines. Although they are free to roam at the protective reserve Semenggoh Forest, at their (Orangutans) earlier arrival to the center, they had to undergo medical evaluation and progressive rehabilitation programme. We may not be a five star center but your visit has contributed significantly to them (Orangutans). Sincerely, Edwin #Magunatip Holidays

Unforgetable experience. Although it was not the best time to see orangutans, we were very lucky and saw two, one of them the dominant male, which was impressive.
Fantastic option to return in the afternoon with the same ticket!!
Animals are respected and we try to make them feel good and people do not overwhelm them.

Stunning experience! We saw 5 oerang oetans including a young babe (born in Jan-22) at the morning feeding. You can get really close and see them grab/eat fruit laid out by the staff. Staff btw are very friendly and really teach you about the the oerang oetans. Would definitely recommend: 10/10.

This was part of an organised trip. If you can only park near the gate it is a 1.5km walk. The rangers call the orangatan after 9 so you can see them feeding at 10. We where very lucky to see one, however it is pot luck. Also if they spot one you need to move to the place quickly. It is not for the infirm or probables with walking. I would also recommend mosquito replant and long trousers with trainers. They are leeches and ticks in certain areas. It is worth the trip.

We are glad you have enjoyed the guided walk towards feeding platform. Must have been after the rain as we don't encounter leeches on the trail. So sorry you were able to only witness 1 orangutans , although this indicates a successful rehabilitation program , they are able to care for them selves in the forest. Due to visitors patronage the center has achieved their objective. Please visit us again or try Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary in Sandakan. Stay safe & healthy Sincerely, Edwin

Staff are dedicated and really care. The orangutans are well taken care of and at the same time they have their space in a natural environment. Wonderful place to visit. We engaged a cab who waited for us and we returned with him. It may get difficult to get a cab on the return otherwise.
