- evet6470 contributionsAmazing North Borneo Sightseeing TourThank you for the amazing sightseeing sunset train tour arranged by TYH Borneo Tours & Travel, special thanks to John and team for the effort and arrangement. We had a wonderful evening and enjoyed the north borneo railway during our train tour to Sungai Benoni. Everything was perfect as we managed to see a beautiful Sunset. Definitely worthwhile to join this North Borneo Sightseeing Sunset Train Tour.Written 27 January 2025
- 131mikaelac0 contributionsGreat company to book with!TYH were an exceptional company to work with to book tours and experiences. As a solo traveller in Kota Kinabalu, I was limited in tours I could do due to most being minimum two people however, the team at TYH worked with me to ensure I was able to do most tours and experiences that I wanted. Communication via WhatsApp was fast, polite and always super helpful. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone!Written 24 January 2025
- vivianz6070 contributionsFantastic, value for money tourGreat tour with Steven today! He covered thoroughly the canopy walk and kinabalu park. We learned a lot of plants and nature there, interesting stuff. Would recommend, especially to nature lovers or people who enjoy walks or being active. The canopy bridge seems high however once you're on, it is not too bad. Foliage heavily covers the ground so doesn't feel like you are high up. Also we saw the rafflesia keithil flower which was lucky as seeing the flower isn't guaranteed, blooms slow and finishes fast. It was a fantastic, worth our money day :))Written 7 January 2025

- tses20250 contributionsExcellent, must go!The tour was very good with the beautiful scenery in Manukan Island and Sapi Island. The lunch boxes were prepared nicely which surprised us. The tour guide Nilven took very good care of us, helped us to safekeep our belongings and was very patient with us. He knows when to take photos for us and catching the sunshine. The driver Khairul was very professional as well. Overall, I would recommend this tour. Definitely worthwhile to join.Written 4 January 2025
- torlisajeffrey0 contributionsAvoid if big tour groups aren’t your thingWas unclear from the details that the trip would be a huge tour group, we spent over an hour simply collecting people from pickup spots. Unfortunately the selection of activities also just felt like a cobbling together of various random activities for a big tour group. Lastly the tour guide, albeit the older uncle that he is, spent so much time rambling off topic that it made it difficult to get any sleep on the tour bus.Written 1 January 2025
- 363luw0 contributionsJust a great experience in Kota KinabaluWe booked the trip about one day before, only to the park and the hot spring. Our guide is old and experienced. He followed the itinerary and gave good advice on what to see and where to take photos. We were lucky with the weather as it only rained after we finished the trekking..The trails we went were only about 1-2km long each. Good for any one. There are so many flora to see along the way and our guide gave us as much introduction as he can. We really appreciate it.Written 30 December 2024
- Passport422864077020 contributionsExcellent tour. Recommended. Car, driver, guide and the tour all are good.Amazing. The tour was really good. Pick up from hotel, village visit, food and return back. Wendy and Rizal both are very good. Wendy was very caring. She helped a lot. While returning back, dropped us based on our request, took photos and shared. Hopefully everyone will like it. Thanks again.Written 28 December 2024

- WorldGlutton0 contributionsWorth recommending!!!!(4D3N KUNDASANG+KK 3 DEC - 8 DEC 2024 - ORGANISER MDM PHANG) Upon arrival , our Tour leader Francis Lim lead us to the Luxury Coach. We were driven to check in at Kinabalu Pine Resort in Kundasang. Room is comfortable ,views of Mount Kinabalu peak is amazing from our verandah. The down side is some of our senior members are allocated at higher ground, not an easy climb for them. Dinner is simple halal steam boat, breakfast is own choice local ala carte. Poring Tree Top Canopy Walk is a series of 5 suspended Rope Bridges. After a tiring walk, we soak our foot in the Hot Spring !!! Desa Dairy Farm has superb view of the Mount Kinabalu, a beautiful garden where lots of visitors are taking picture. Dinner was seafood at Welcome Restaurant. Nice ambience, good service and food is delicious. Breakfast at Fat Kee Restaurant is a total disappointment !. We were told not to order more than Rm30/-. This include a bowl of our choice noodles either soup of dry, and a plate of fry wanton. Too much noodles in soup , it tasted bland with chewy & tough seafood. The Lady Owner promoted side dish at our own payment. Rm68 for a small plate of braised fish lips. Lots to discover on the local 5 tribal houses in Mari Mari Cultural Village, with the rain & groups following one another, it was difficult to hear the explanations. Sunset Borneo Cruise was not very exciting, it was raining, we did not get to see the sunset. After 15 mins on the water, The Ship had to cruise back to the wharf. Buffet Dinner is average. However we did enjoy the entertainment. Frankie Lim took us to have Sang Yuk Mein for breakfast at Kedai Kopi Jia Siang. Noodle is springy, slice meat is tender, soup is tasty. Thumbs up for this!! On the last day, we tour around KK town, walk around the Sabah Foundation as well , walk into Pu Tuo Si Temple for photography sessions. Thereafter to Cocoa Kingdom & Fung Seng Frozen Seafood for shopping spree !! All in all, it was a memorable and enjoyable trip, especially with Frankie serenating us at the end of our Tour. A special thanks to Frankie Lim for being patience and thoughtful to accommodate us in a comfortable, cosy 46 seaters Coach for the 3 days tour. It is indeed worth having TYH Borneo Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd for the tour!!!Written 9 December 2024

Mr. Tang our tour guide was helpful & took great pleasure explaining flora & faunas of Kinabalu park, canopy walk, hot springs & tasting of local fruits en route. Really nice lunch. Some excellent views of Mount Kinabalu, the clouds come and go. We had the opportunity to see a rare Rafflesia flower, see photo below. Recommended.Written 1 October 2024

The cruises to see the monkeys and fireflies were amazing. We saw 4 different types of monkeys and probably about 50+ monkeys in total. The fireflies were also great. The minibus ride there was way too long though and took far longer than advertised - 3 hours each way from KK city plus an extra 45 minutes each way to the Rasa Ria so 7-8 hours total on the minibus with the least legroom I've ever experienced. Driver drove unbelievably slow for no apparent reason, unlike almost everyone else on the road.

It was a perfect and sunny day during Sunday when I went for the Proboscis Monkeys & Fireflies tour at Weston where before anything else we stopped by at Cocoa Boutique for 20 minutes where there's a variety of chocolate products. After that, we then depart to Weston for about 2 hours van ride. One thing I like the moment I arrived there is the sense of calm I felt as it was away from the hustle and bustle of the city, we were served with local 'kuih' and tea before we went on our search for the Proboscis monkeys.
During my visit, our guide was very considerate of us as we waited until the sun is not too hot to find the monkeys and the monkeys were within our sight from the jetty so we were very lucky to spot many of them during that day, we spent around 40 minutes spotting the proboscis monkeys. Plus, the guide were kind enough to explain many things about the proboscis monkey. New info for me. The boatman also brought us near the village housing by river. Got some engagement with the village. They were selling us fresh seafood and our travel provider were even willing to cook them fresh.
Dinner was also fantastic as it was served buffet style so we could choose from chicken, seafood, veggies and also fruit. After dinner, we relaxed a bit before going on the search to fireflies. Our guide was very skillful in finding the fireflies and I enjoyed it so much as the fireflies' lights looked like christmas lights, we spent 20 minutes in enjoying the fireflies' "show" before heading back to the jetty.
Overall, it was a nice trip. Love how calm it is there. Next time I'll be coming with my friends maybe.

Meet nice local people and enjoy the local food. The breezy river cruise is rejuvenating while enjoying the breathtaking sunset and observing the living creatures along the river - the proboscis monkey and fireflies are amazing. Highly recommended to those who love nature.

Long bus journey to Kawa Kawa. First stop at Aura Raudhah village beach & restaurant for tea break, we were slightly early, the snacks were not ready so we had some time to wonder at the beach area. The deco was quite nice with many swings and hammocks for pictures. However bathroom was really run down. We were told by the tour agency there was high tea, but the actual snack was just 2 miserable types of small donuts and coffee in an open air sheltered small eating area. The river cruise to see Proboscis monkeys were very disappointing and boring, saw only 2 macaque monkeys by the river bed, and 2 Proboscis monkeys high up on the tree but not clear. Dinner back at the same location, we got to see beautiful sunset at the beach before dinner started, it was simple servings of curry chicken, cabbage, egg with white rice and crackers. Then river cruise to see fireflies, it was very short duration only, we did see some but not a lot, and not many flew over to the boat. Overall we were not impressed with this tour.

This tour was described as an approximately 0ne and a half hour drive to the jetty for the river cruise. It took three hours to get there after we visited a chocolate outlet on the way, made out to be an additional tour experience but in reality this was probably just a deal the tour operator had done with the chocolate shop as a way to deliver customers to their door. The outlet is made out to give you the feeling this is a chocolate factory when in reality the chocolate is made elsewhere. This chocolate experience was not mentioned in the tour description and an unnecessary extension to an already long uninteresting tour.
In the end we did see some Proboscis Monkeys but it was not worth spending over five hours crammed into an old mini van travelling over shocking roads to see some wildlife from a distance. The afternoon tea was very ordinary comprising of some slices of sweet potatoes deep fried in batter and other indistinguishable deep fried lumps. The fireflies were an interesting natural phenomena but highly exaggerated in the promotional photographs and description.
I rarely complain or write poor reviews but in this case I wanted to provide some comments because the tour operator has been misleading in the way the tour is promoted and despite receiving poor reviews going back years and responding by saying that the feedback was valued and would be taken on board, nothing has been done to improve the tour.
At least the tour guide was enthusiastic about the wildlife but no amount of enthusiasm will make up for this inferior tourism product.

Hello Miss / Madam,
We do apologise for the vehicle as this tour is on join in basis and we have other guest participating on our tour as well that day, but our van is certified to the standard of our ministry of tourism and culture with permit and insured.
As for road conditions it’s really not something out of our jurisdiction as the road works department are doing the road construction for the pan borneo highway on the way to Klias so indeed the road is horrendous to drive on at the moment. We also hope they get it done soon.
Our guide that brought the tour in which you complimented in your feedback mentioned on that day there was quite few spotting of proboscis monkeys and long tail macaques. There was a silver leaf monkey in the distance on top of a tree but that’s the natural habitat of the silver leaf monkey to live on the trees tops away from the other monkeys. All of the guest were lucky on that day to have so many sightings as our guide show us the video of the stork-billed kingfisher, salt water crocodile, monitor lizard resting on the coconut tree trunk near the riverbank. The weather was also good and there’s a pretty decent sunset when you’re cruising back along the Klias river.
In response on the chocolate factory it is indeed a local sabah specialty cocoa kingdom to introduce ( sabah local cocoa production ) which is now grown on Borneo, particularly in the areas of Tawau, Kuching, and Sabah. Chocolate making isn't very common on the island. A few of these brands are based in Kota Kinabalu, and all of them are using Malaysian cacao to craft some truly Malaysian chocolates.
As well , we would like to apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment caused during your tour. We strive to provide the best possible experience for all our customers and it seems we fell short in your case even we have provide our service at our best effort to you.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience and we hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust and provide you with a positive experience in the future.

After picking up everyone, we went straight to a chocolate store for shopping before anything else. We arrived at the wetland 2h late from the original schedule, the guide did not show up or talk to us for the 3h that we were on the car. The tour is overpriced from my opinion, we saw monkeys and fire flies but that was it, total time was within 30mins. Food was also bad. We spent 5h in total in the minivan where there was no view on the way. Anyways I would not go again.

TYH Borneo Tours & Travel gave us a good travel experience. We booked the tour last minute during Hari Raya but they were able to accommodate us. We were almost disheartened that we won't be able to secure a Proboscis Monkey and Fireflies River Cruise that day since it was a holiday. Thankfully, John accommodated us. The price is worth it. They have good customer service too. Thank you, TYH Borneo Tours and Travel.

Thoroughly enjoyed this visit to the Klias River. The eco guide was very knowledgeable about the different habitats and behaviour of the proboscis monkeys and we managed to see quite a few families of monkeys along the river bank. Then it's back to the jetty for a simple but delicious home cooked dinner. After nightfall, we were back at the river and were able to spot thousands of fireflies up in the trees. It was truly magical.

I enjoyed this trip. Our guide Eddie was very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw lots of proboscis monkeys and the fireflies were really cool. I’d recommend bringing a zoom camera as the monkeys are quite high up in the trees. Yes it’s quite a long drive there and back, but that’s where they are. You either want to see monkeys and fireflies or you don’t.

We had a tour arranged with them at a very very short notice, like arrived KK at 2pm and then had the tour arranged by 14:30
We saw the Proboscis Monkey as well as a couple of other monkeys as we went around the river.
We've got lucky to see the baby carriyng Proboscis Monkey even!
Then there was rizzards, croc.
The guide was knowledgable and helpful.
Snack provided was good and the dinner served before the firefly outing was prentiful and delicious. In fact my wife who normally is very critical of various food commented that it may have been the best so far.
Our boy 9yrs, who normally is rather picky eater, had a 2nd and even 3rd helping!
There was a unfortunate incident of my leaving my iPhone behind on the bus, but the Office helped me getting the lost item back and the dirver/the guide got them all sorted in no time.
Thank you very much and I cannot but reccomend these people whole heartedly.
