About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Tourist067750324210 contributionsHeritage Tour in MalaccaWe did the Heritage tour of Malacca with our guide, Amin. He was terrific - knowledgeable, humorous and took us to off the beaten path places. I would certainly suggest that if you are doing this type of tour in Malacca, you contact Amin through Asian Trails.Written 6 October 2024
- LWarner160 contributionsAmazing trip to MalaysiaWe had a wonderful trip to Malaysia - staying in Kuala Lumpur and Borneo - which we booked in the UK, and Azril from Asian Trails was the local agent who looked after us really well. We did a great City Tour of KL, booked with Asian Trails, with an excellent driver who took us to all the places we wanted to see. Azril organised all of our many pick-ups and transfers, which all went smoothly, and at very short notice he got us a trip to the orangutan sanctuary at Sepilok with an excellent guide and driver, which was a fantastic experience. He was so helpful throughout our stay in Malaysia and he really added to our enjoyment with his organisational and customer care skills.Written 2 October 2024
- M9393HIjanem0 contributionsExcellent Introduction to KLWe couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Kuala Lumpur. We absolutely loved the mixture of culture and real city life. Tony our guide was excellent - he gave us amazing insights into the history of KL. Highly recommend - it’s worth noting you need to be confident in a bike in some traffic, perfect for our family of 4 with teenagers.Written 15 August 2024

- patsychom10 contributionsGreat memories of BorneoAsian Trails was the agency used by our Canadian provider to organize a private tour to Sabah and Sarawak as well as time in and around KL. They did a terrific job in meeting all our requests to areas we wanted to go; by staying in touch to ensure all was well with our trip; by organizing some last minute activities. Our contact person, Abu, was very responsive and accommodating. It made a big difference to have that level of service and that level of engagement. We had a great time and having the confidence in Asian Trails made a huge difference. I would certainly travel with them to other areas without jesitation.Written 26 November 2022

- 166meghanb0 contributionsWorst day!I honestly don’t know where to begin with this horrible day. This trip was so unorganised, everything was late. It began with us being told to be outside our hotel at 8am. We were picked up at 8:55. We then drove to the ferry and were told to be at the meeting spot by 9:30 at 10:15 we left to go to the ferry. There were no instructions we were herded like sheep people were going every where. I travelled with my dad who is in a walker and walking stick. I asked for help on to the ferry many times to the point where I had to yell to get someone to move and help us. We then took an hour ferry ride on a hot non air conditioned ferry to get off on the most unstable pontoon that was not tethered properly. There was no organisation everyone was just pushing past it was horrible. The swimming itself was lovely, the fish were stunning. We then sat down for lunch which was provided which wasn’t too bad but for the price we payed I was expecting more than cold fried rice and an apple. As we were sitting down to lunch 3 giant rats came out of the rocks it was disgusting. We were told to be ready to leave at 3pm at 4:15 we started to leave back on the horrible pontoon. There was no step to get on to the boat my mother has a bad shoulder and could not lift herself up so 2 men came and tried to lift her by pinching her legs and basically violating her. She ended up crying back to the ferry. We finally made it back by 5:40 the organisation continued to be horrible as we had no idea where to go to go home. We were then squashed into a mini van with other people who were being dropped off. We made it home by 6:30 and had never felt more disgusting. We payed $466 Australian dollars to be hot, sad and feel unsafe all day. I also had my 5 month old baby with us who was so tired and miserable. I wouldn’t wish this trip on anyone. Book with caution.Written 29 December 2019
- apsphilippines0 contributionsNight of EntertainmentKannan arrived early so he took us first to the Mosque and Chinatown. He graciously took our pictures and gave insights of every place we went. We passed by Harrison store which sells different kinds of chocolates made from cacao. The buffet was yummy; fusion of Malaysian cuisine. The Cultural Show started on time. We enjoyed watching dancers of the different regions of Malaysia. The singer during the finale has a superb voice. All of us were called on the stage to try dancing the bamboo dance. We had a great and enjoyable night.Written 25 October 2019
- Attreyee K0 contributionsGreat TripWe took the afternoon tour. It was really nice. There are over 200 steps to climb at the Batu Caves so if you are not used to so much exertion, don't climb the steps all at once. Take breaks. From Batu Caves we went to a Batik emporium. It's was good. If you're thinking of getting something exclusive for your family and friends, you can give this a shot. The last stop was Royal Selangor. Our guide Ravi was very informative and great. Our overall tour guide was also good. Told us a lot about the history of Malaysia and KL.Written 29 July 2019
- duffys-bucketlist0 contributionsA sence of achievement in many wayswe were fortunate [or dare I say it smart] that as it was a public holiday we decided to get there quite early and missed the horrendous traffic queues we spotted trying to get there as we were leaving. And even then it was already packed in there. It took us 20 mins from the KL centre but I would suggest allowing double that to even an hour if you suspect you've missed that early time slot. On the walk to the caves there were lots of stalls with strings of flowers some small some huge. It was explained to us by our driver these are offerings. There was no hard sell by the stall holders and the one I purchased was inexpensive ...you can have a bit of choice for $10 or under. The statue was awe inspiring ... having seen so many pictures it was hard to register she was actually right there... I was there! The 272 steps are a challenge due to a/ the number of them b/the amount of people on there, walking at different paces, taking selfies [in not a stop on a stairs kinda girl and wanting to reach the wider sections before resting [I mean sight seeing haha] and avoiding the monkeys was another consideration.... despite the signs people feeding them had made them very curious. At calmer places I did turn and enjoy the view, taking some brilliant pictures of KL with the statue framing the shot but what was the bonus I hadn't expected was how beautiful the caves were in places... lots of pictures were taken. I followed with care and respect the local people and made my offering... it was a moving experience. the walk down was physically easier but as a tall person I was aware the stone edging was very low so you felt that a hand rail would have been saver. but I loved the experience... and as someone ticking a bucket list being there, doing all the steps and savouring the experience provided a great sense of achievement for me. points to note * get there as early as you can - we would have been there 2 hours before had we known. miss the traffic, and then the crowds which would enhance the atmosphere. *there is no charge to enter the main cave. An additional cave was available for a charge which we chose to avoid as the lines were long by then and we were very happy with the experience we had enjoyed. * the steps are fine, 272 were broken into sections but there are less places to hold on than someone unstable would prefer [pace yourself and have a hand to hold] * keep your bags small, zipped, and close. The monkeys [and were were warned some unscrupulous sorts] would like to help you of your belongings. * bring a camera * be prepared to be awe inspired... it is stunningly beautifulWritten 9 July 2018

We had a great and comfortable trip with Thomas, driver of Asian Trail, with great kindness and expertise.
He has a big and beautiful car in which he took us from Malaka to Kuala Lumpur, picked us up in Taman Negara and took us to Cameron Highlands and then to Penang (2 days) taking us to all the necessary places, with friendliness and professionalism despite not speaking Spanish, striving to fulfill all our wishes. Polite treatment and with a smile towards meals with us
A 10 for Thomas
