4-Hour Georgetown Food Tour

Overview

Penang’s UNESCO-listed George Town is alive with food: Chinese, Malay, “Nyonya” (mixed), and more. But unless you’re an expert it can be hard to tell the great stalls from the so-so, or even decide what to eat. On this heritage and food trail, taste at least 10 different local specialties from three different purveyors—and learn about George Town’s rich heritage as you do.

What to Expect

Greet your guide in central George Town and start discovering the history of this UNESCO-listed city. See places of worship for the different communities who flocked here, including St. George’s Church and the Chinese Goddess of Mercy Temple. View Chinese clan houses and learn about the “nyonya” culture, a fusion of Malay and Chinese ways of life

Along the way, visit at least three food outlets and sample at least 10 different local specialties. Ask your guide whatever questions take your fancy and eat till you are full. Top off your tour with a cocktail in one of George Town’s finest bars.

Great introduction to the Food and History of Penang

So much more than a food tour. The amount of food is very well paced. We have done several food tours where you end up stuffed - swearing never to eat again. Plenty of walking in between spots. It’s also so much more than a...More

Not sure if this is too late but we walked to the meeting point. I’d get in contact with him by email as he’s very helpful. Not sure where the Parkroyal is but if it’s out of Georgetown ask them to get you a Grab taxi
