- W2285ANkimg0 contributionsTakayama & ShirakawagoGreat personalized trip to Takayama and Shirakawago. Tetsuro answered all our questions and tailored it to us. Our driver was fantastic. We explored the market and craft shops in Takayama and the Samurai home. Saw the mountain village of Shirakawago. The A-frame structures were so cool. The views were amazing. Thank you. Highly recommendWritten 7 September 2024
- Gregory F0 contributionsGreat Tour in KanazawaSachiko was a fantastic guide. We were able to see several parts of the city, Sachiko was very knowledgeable of the history Kanazawa and how that history has impacted the modern culture of Kanazawa. She has cultivated good relationships with artisans and shopkeepers in the various historic districts. This has resulted in a richer and more fun experience. In addition, Sachiko is a patient communicator. This is an important quality for American tourists who may not speak Japanese. She was a joy to talk to and get to know.Written 7 September 2024

- MarmadukeScarlett0 contributionsVery enjoyable eveningWe met our guide Tetsuro at 6pm and spent about an hour walking through the old Geisha districts, Tetsuro shared lots of fascinating facts and insights. We then went to a restaurant and had a really delicious meal. I had the pork udon as did one of my children and the other 2 had the beef. You part cook it yourself on burners and sit at a traditional table. Tetsuro was an interesting host and we enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture and food. We then had a pear jelly pudding and some homemade ginger tea. The restaurant was lovely, we really couldn’t fault it. I wouldn’t think this tour is suitable for children, mine are all adults. So if you are looking for a local cultural evening this is ideal and one I am happy to recommend for adults,Written 3 September 2024
- Y878GHemilyt0 contributionsExperience of a lifetime- make sure to ask for NozomiNozomi was the guide that was the highlight of our trip. She got us special access to artisans such as a traditional kimono painter and maker of golf leaf. We were able to spend lots of one-on-one time with each artisan learning about their craft, and even sometimes trying ourselves. She acted as a flawless translator. The experience was not touristy at all. Nozomi I often knew the master personally, so it was an authentic experience she could provide. Very special. Additionally, Nozomi was a pleasure to spend time with and had lots of perspective and history to add. She has lived all over the world, so she had a terrific perspective on what was unique to Japanese culture vs elsewhere. We will always remember our time with her.Written 31 August 2024
- Tina T0 contributionsOnce in a lifetime Artisan tour with Nozomi San in Kanazawa!Nozomi San with Kanazawa Tours went above and beyond to customize the artisan tour for my teenage son and me. I appreciated every moment of the tour, from visiting Omicho Market to taste the freshest seafood, Noto beef, to the precious kimono artisan (silk dying) experience. We also learned about the Samurai history while visiting the Samurai Nomura house. She was passionate about showing us her culture and history. She was one of the best guides I’ve ever had! The artisan tour was the highlight of our mother-son Japanese trip! Thank you so much, Nozomi San!Written 28 August 2024

He showed us so many amazing spots (gold leaf store, Wow!) and gave us a great overview of the city as well as its history. So many interesting facts. He was great at adjusting the tour to meet our wishes. We would highly recommend this tour and our guide, Tetsuro.Written 27 August 2024

His engaging storytelling and intimate insights into Kanazawa's past made the experience truly memorable. - 757jx0 contributionsI'm not one to go on tours but 10/10 no regretsI had the pleasure of exploring visiting places in kanazawa with Nozomi-san who was attentive to my requests throughout the entire tour. I signed up to visit an artisan as well as to explore the Geisha town. Nozomi san shared stories of each location that was only IYKYK, and as my interest was in crafts, she brought me to places such as the river where they used to wash kimono in the process of yuzen dye. I was also looking for a goshuin book from kanazawa, and she asked every shop we went into if they had it. I'm not one to go on tours, but am glad that I had in this trip :)Written 11 August 2024

- jotas3760 contributionsGreat night Kanazawa fooding experienceWe had a great experience, my daughter and I, visiting the Geisha district and roundabouts, led by a seasoned and kind guide namedTetsuro. He knew a lot about history and the Geisha district itself. We were quite impressed. The whole culminated by a typical Japanese meal at a friendly restaurant. The owners were very welcoming and we could interchange a couple of words on typical dishes and customs. The tour itself is quite cheap considering the meal is included and that you may opt amongst a variety of different dishes and one drink. Really good value for money.Written 5 August 2024

We spent three wonderful days in Kanazawa and surrounding areas with Nozomi Kondo. We have traveled extensively and used many guides and Nozomi was probably the best. She was very friendly, informative and and fun to be with, which is important if you are going to be spending multiple days with someone. She also paid attention to what we were interested in and modified the itinerary accordingly. For example, she overheard my husband say he'd like to try pufferfish and the next thing we knew she had made reservations at a restaurant that specialiized in Fugu.
I highly recommend Kanazawa Walking Tours and especially Nozomi Kondo if you are going to be in that city.

Our guide, Nozomi, quickly worked out what we were interested in and told us a huge amount about not only the places we visited but also Japanese history and culture in general. She took us to a brilliant and properly Japanese lunch spot. She is a very nice person and we would thoroughly recommend the tour, especially if you have a genuine interest in understanding Japan.

We had a wonderful day guided by the incomparable Sachiko Nakai. We visited the historic Samurai (Nagamachi Bukeyashiki) district, experienced a tea ceremony, toured a Samurai house, and visited a Geisha house in one of Kanazawa’s three geisha districts. Throughout the day, Sachiko provided history, background and context in excellent English. Sachiko made sure we did not miss the beauty and nuances of what we were viewing. Sachiko also secured us a hard to find dinner reservation on a national holiday. she was a terrific guide.

Our lovely guide, Sachiko, met us at our hotel and customised our tour to include all the sights we wanted to see. We began on foot to tour the Samurai District where Sachiko explained the history and culture in a way that was engaging and charming. We took taxis when it was too far to walk, and visited the beautiful Suzuki Zen Museum followed by the Modern Art Museum. After a delicious local lunch we visited the Kenrokuen Gardens, and again we enjoyed Sachiko’s explanations of all its features. The ancient pines and water features were a particular highlight for me! Finally, we went to the Geisha District and toured the only Geisha museum in Japan. Sachiko guided us expertly, smoothing the way with taxi drivers and museum attendants. She even helped us exchange currency on a public holiday. I would highly recommend Kanazawa Tours as the best way to see the sights of this amazing city, and if you can get Sachiko as your guide, you will have the best day! 🥰

We had a delightful time with our guide Sachiko Nakai on our full day tour of Kanazawa. We travelled with young children with short attention spans, but Sachiko made sure the whole day was wonderful for all of us. From insights and tours into samurai culture for adults to ninja star throwing experience for the kids and to creating our own gold leaf art for all of us, we truly had a wonderful day. Sachiko customized our tour to our family so I feel confident to recommend this tour both to groups with and without children. I would also recommend a full day tour, if you have time, as there is a lot to see in Kanazawa and we ended our day with our kids asking to see some of the stops we did not have time for. Note, transportation around the Kanazawa sites is very convenient on the red and green tourist buses.

Nozomi was our guide for a full day tour. She was everything we could ask for in a guide. She was knowledgeable, friendly, spoke English well and explained the historical and cultural significance of what we were seeing. She went out of her way to make our day memorable, from picking a great lunch spot, making dinner reservations for us, and even extending the tour by an hour at no cost so that we could see everywhere wanted. Would heartily recommend Nozomi and a full day guided tour to anyone traveling to Kanazawa!

The artisan tour of Kanazawa was a highlight of our trip to Japan. Our guide, Nozomi, was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of Kanazawa as well as very friendly and gracious. She went out of her way to make sure we had a thorough introduction to the city and gave us great recommendations for sites to visit and places to eat. We toured a kimono painting studio and a ceramics museum. Ohi-San, the master ceramicist who is the 11th in his family line, gave us a private tour and served tea in the part of the museum that used to be his family home. It was truly an honor to talk with him about his art and travels around the world. I highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in the arts. It will open your eyes to a part of the city and culture you don’t get to experience as a normal tourist.

We had the honor of having Mrs Nozomi guiding us around Kanazawa on 9/15/2023 and I cannot say enough great things about both her and the places she took us. Friendly, informative, kind, sweet, and so excited about the city and the artisans we got to see. She went above and beyond what I would expect of a guide and getting to spend the day with her is absolutely going to be a highlight of our trip. We got to participate in a tea ceremony and visit both silk dying and gold leaf artisans and everything we saw and learned was absolutely fascinating. I recommend 1000 times over and should we ever be in Kanazawa again I will absolutely be looking forward to doing this again.
