- DheenaAbdulla0 contributionsWhat an incredible experience! 200/100It is with utmost gratitude that I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our incredible experience with Velar of the Seas. This was the most awaited experience of our entire Vietnam trip. We were welcomed by the lovely staffs at the Tuan Chau harbor, who offered great assistance and care from the very beginning. They ensured that all our luggage were in order and seated us at the lounge while we waited for our departure to the cruise. During our journey to the cruise, the host gave a detailed explanation of our itinerary. He was fun, engaging and very professional throughout, ensuring that the guests were comfortable, happy and excited to reach the final destination. From the moment we saw the first glance of the cruise, we were totally amazed. It was just magnificent. Upon arrival, the team extended a warm welcome and escorted us direct to lunch. The buffet was extensive, with great selections. As the cruise begain it’s journey through the mesmerizing Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, we enjoyed a perfect view while enjoying the delicious food. This felt so good after a long journey all the way from Ninh Binh. During the lunch, we were also briefed on the upcoming excursions for the stay. After the lunch, it was our time to finally check-in. From the moment we opened the room door, we were over the moon. What a beautiful surprise! It instantly felt like a second honeymoon. The room and bathroom was huge, with many thoughtful amenities and the bed decoration with rose petals and towel art, was truly gorgeous! The bathtub with the ocean view, was simply breathtaking! Thank you so much for going above and beyond the extra mile to make sure we were the happiest. We have travelled a lot, but we have never had such a romantic, beautiful, memorable surprise so far. In the afternoon, we explored the Dark and Bright Cave via Bamboo boat, with a captain who sang for us through our journey to keep us entertained as we watched the scenery. Afterwards, the pool was open for us to enjoy, along with a tea ceremony and cooking class for those who were interested. From 1900hrs onwards, the dinner buffet was open with extensive selections and various delicacies. The waiters were on standby at all times and the atmosphere was so lovely. We were in love with all the food served on board. It was so worth it. After dinner, squid fishing, bar, movies and spa was available to enjoy. We were so genuinely happy with all the activities offered on our itinerary, and the way staffs ensured our happiness, enjoyment and satisfaction throughout our time on board. You guys are truly incredible gems! We highly recommend Velar of the Seas to everyone, this was truly the top highlight of our 10days trip to Vietnam.Written 9 January 2025
- 984DazH0 contributions3 day 2 night stay as coupleA well run operation. Rooms are really quite lovely. Much more spacious than I expected. Food is good but temperature was variable from luke warm to warm hot! Drinks are overpriced but you can understand the extra price. Seemed to be a drive to encourage purchasing! Overall had a pleasant stay and the staff go above and beyond to ensure you are happy. You are herded a bit like cattle but you just go with the flow. If you’re lucky with sunny days the activities are even more enjoyable. Stunningly beautiful scenery. Only pet grudge: all the boats seem to congregate together, sometimes blocking the views! In a nutshell. You cant go wrong with peony.Written 18 December 2024
- philippebO7303QF0 contributionsLanah Bay cruiseDon't expect to see what is on the website 's photo. Our experience on that cruise was not a 5 stars at all except of the staff who are very nice. In our executive suite room the wooden floor was loose ,the sliding doors glasses to the balcony were cracked and the bath tube smells the drain when we turned it on ,had to keep the door closed overnight . The food onboard is pretty average especially what they call "sea food buffet "which is not good . Appart the cave excurtion and sceneries which are fantastic, some of the activities are limited to a number of guest(5 squid fishing rods for 50 guest). Overall it's worth a visit to this beautifull part of the world for those couple of days but try to avoid Velar cruise .Written 30 November 2024
- Julia K0 contributionsHighly recommended cruise! This cruise honestly exceeded our expectations! The room was even better and more beautiful than we thought (a personal bathtub with jacuzzi and view on the bay is hard to beat!), and the food was great (since we are vegetarians, we were worried about it). The program is excellent, but I do recommend taking a 3-day/2-night option. It's a much better value for your money, for sure. Cocktails and other drinks, as well as spa are at extra cost, but they tell about it multiple times, so no hidden costs here. And last but not least - the staff is awesome. They're friendly, welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Special thanks to Jessica and Dragon!Written 17 November 2024
- NZ-traveller610 contributionsOkayWe had an amazing time. Staff were fantastic. Food was delicious. The disappointments were the premium room which are advertised on the company website is not what you get. What we got was nice, big but not the same as the pictures. Tv was for decoration only. No fridge and you had to pay for your drinks with breakfast etc. value for money …. Not great. Happy hour was only for cocktails and not beer. Room needed more lighting. Do recommend 3d 2 night trip. Also booked this as boat had elevator .. which wasn’t workingWritten 30 October 2024
- helenoD6442LS0 contributionsHighly recommend this tripAmazing views amazing cabin amazing food. All staff were helpful and pleasant. Also well organised. I had a relaxing time you don’t have to do all the activities if you don’t want to. Views of Halong bay were spectacularWritten 23 October 2024
- sebastiankP5838FA0 contributionsNice Trip!Nice ship, lovely crew. We enjoyed our stay! We made the two day and one night trip and think it is a good way to explore halong Bay.Written 14 October 2024
- blondiesocks0 contributionsThe Best Way to See Halong BayWe had the most wonderful trip on Velar of the Seas on a 1 night, 2 day cruise. Upfront and most importantly, this cruise is so special because of its staff. From our first impressions to our sad farewell, they stood out as being professional, energetic and have customer service at the very heart of what they do. Arrival. We transferred from the harbour to the cruiser on a tender, on route we were given plenty of useful and some vital information from Mr Johnny Minh, this gentleman is a true hard worker and like the other crew members was always smiling. The cruiser. Beautiful boat, modern with a twist of the traditional. Room. We adored our room, we went for the standard senior room which was plenty big, lovely bathroom and balcony big enough to enjoy a cup of tea and watch the world go by. Activities. Bamboo boat to the caves was super, loved this and the option for kayaking was good, karaoke, Vietnamese cooking demo and squid fishing were all on offer and included as part of the itinerary. You could pay extra for spa treatments, we did and it was money well spent to add the bliss factor. Halong Bay. Simply breathtaking. We will never forget this most beautiful place. As the boat is moving, each time you look up you have a different vista, a new angle, different colours, it never gets boring. Food. No complaints at all, we loved everything and asked for nothing more. The set menu for evening meal was a delight and myself and partner enjoyed it all but had to miss desert due to spa treatments. Drinks are at extra cost but this is made very clear not only on booking but on route to the cruise also, so please do not give the crew a hard time about it (we witnessed this and felt it rather unfair). Service. As stated earlier the staff/crew made this so special for us, from the maintenance team, cleaners right up to the cruise manager and skipper, we appreciated their manner, grace and energy. We would like to give special thanks to: Johnny Minh Dragon Jenny Jessica Vinny We would highly recommend Velar of the Seas, we will be back next year for 3 days 2 nights experience.Written 10 October 2024
- Escape063564848840 contributionsBlocked drainage a serious health hassled. We booked 3 rooms on the highly rated Velar of the Sea , Halong/ LAN Ha cruise for tonight. 1) the ship is very beautiful and rooms are very clean BUT they have a HUGE Hygiene issue on board. Their drainage is blocked so the rooms fill with sewer stink. In two of our rooms (306,308) there was a sewage stench that was unbearable. We complained to them at 3:00pm, politely asking them to give us different rooms, which were available ( as they were not fully occupied) . But until 7 pm nothing was done. They put candles and sprayed room freshers , but any amount of perfume cannot change human excretions (the other word is not allowed to be used in trip advisor review) to fragrant flowers!!!!! Most of our sunset and time on board was spent trying to explain to them. This is an expensive cruise and we wasted our time , money and left us with a bad taste. They finally changed our rooms at 8:45, pm when most of our time in the cruise was spent wasted on this issue. The 2 days itinerary is a farce, it’s actually only 1 pm onwards until 9am next day. Rest of the time is spent in transit. 3) food menu needs a rethink. We finally did not like the lunch and dinner at all. They need to realise their clients are from across the globe and need sat least some popular dishes. It is nether authentic Vietnamese not popular continental. Just deep fried food, some small chicken nuggets qualified as non veg option . This is not acceptable. 4) 5:30 was supposed to be fruit and tea time. We asked 2 times for the tea but only condensed milk and sugar was kept, the tea never came!!!!! This was done to ensure people buy cocktails and mocktails which makes them more money. 5) fruit platter for a ship of 30 rooms was 1 dinner plate full. That is all. Only 5 people could eat and there was never a refill. 6) manager was unable to solve our problems inspite of pleading repeatedly. The service staff is SUPER but the management is not ideal.l or else they would have handled the issue better . We did not come here to fight we wanted a solution for a problem but their attitude was never to solve it.Written 8 October 2024

- L4277MHannab0 contributionsA memorable cruise experience, despite a minor hiccupThis cruise was a fantastic experience despite a last-minute cabin change, which the team handled smoothly. The new boat had everything we needed, including a lovely pool that added to our enjoyment. With breathtaking views, delicious food, and friendly staff, the entire trip was a delight. Special thanks to Jimmy, whose attentive service made everything feel personal and memorable. This cruise became one of the highlights of our journey, leaving us with unforgettable memories.Written 20 September 2024

- 914irisj0 contributionsA truly exceptional cruise experience. The Peony cruise exceeded our expectations in every way. Our comfortable and well-appointed room offered stunning views of Halong Bay. The food was delicious, catering to our dietary needs with ease. We especially enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere on board. The staff, were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our entire group, including our young grandson, felt well cared for. The top deck, with its jacuzzi, bar, and sunbeds, provided the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the breathtaking sunsets. We highly recommended this cruise to anyone seeking a memorable and relaxing getaway in Halong Bay.Written 18 September 2024
- 637gauravc0 contributionsDisappointing They will make you pay for water during lunch and DinnerHighly Overrated !! For the amount that we paid, the service was not up to the mark. The crew really needs some proper training. They even charged us extra money for water during lunch and dinner. Also tea and coffee are not included in breakfast you have to pay extra. We paid USD 500 for 1 night which was supposed to be all inclusive. However, they charged us extra on such small things. Actual room doesn't look the same as shown in the pictures. The quality of food is very low not even 3 star.Written 29 August 2024
