About
Travelling to Murchison falls National Park makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world, we usher you into different activities like game drives to spot at a number of beautiful wildlife species like the Lions, Antelopes like the Jackson's heart beasts, water bucks, warthogs, elephants, giraffes, among others, then hiking to the top of the falls and finally a great, memorable and unforgettable 3 hours boat ride experience on the Nile River to critically observe and hear the sounds of the falling waters of the Murchison falls.

I went on a solo trip with Augustine, my guide, and had a great time. Augustine was very chatty, accommodating and knowledgeable - making my trip easy, fun and educational. I also booked just the evening before departing so, the company was very flexible.
We stayed in Hornbill Lodge which was the cheapest option. It was basic and comfortable, with lovely views. The hotelier-come-chef was great and knowing I wanted to try local food, made us 'rolex' for lunch and 'matoke' for breakfast as well as western food on other nights.
We saw all of the animals bar the big cats, during 2 game drives and 1 boat trip. Personal highlights were seeing the many many warthogs and the hippos.

This is a long review! Scroll to bottom to skip the details.

My boyfriend and I had a fun safari tour with our guide Arifat! We were picked up on time at our hotel in Kampala and drove 6 hrs to the falls.

Before reaching the Falls, we went to a rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. We saw 7 rhinos total and it was amazing to see them in nature and not at a zoo. After seeing the rhinos, we had lunch (included) then headed to the Falls. **Keep in mind: meals and water bottles are included in the price of the tour, however if you order bottled water or drinks at any of the restaurants during the tour, you will pay out of pocket! Bottled water is purchased ahead of time by your guide for the entire tour and is stored in a cooler. The water given to you inside the vehicle is the one that is included with the tour. Make sure to ask you guide questions!***

Most of the road from Kampala to Murchison was paved. As you draw closer to the Falls, the road intermittently changes between paved and unpaved. Expect to have a lot of bumpy, uneven roads, and a lot of dust! We stayed at Twiga Safari Lodge. The lobby was nice and our room was a sturdy high quality tent. The material of the tent was thick and strong. The mosquito net was needed and large enough to cover the entire bed. The downside of the lodge is the lack of A/C and limited fans available for use. It was pretty hot inside the tent and took a while for cooler air to flow through during the evening. Unfortunately, we did not sleep well during our stay. We were in close proximity to hippos and frogs. They do NOT have wifi or power outlets inside the tent. They are available for use in the lobby only. Rwenzori water during meals is complementary. For those looking for isolation from crowds, this lodge is for you.

The next day, we went for a game drive in the morning. The SUV has a roof that can be elevated higher. This allows people to stand and view the animals without a glass enclosure as well as allow cool air to flow throughout the drive. Then, we went on a ferry boat tour on the Nile River after noon. Arifat stayed on land and waited for us to get back (about 3.5 hrs). We saw the receiving end of the Falls and the boat was positioned at a good angle by the captain for amazing photos! We saw hippos, a crocodile, pumbas and multiple birds. On our way back from the ferry boat tour, one of the staff members forgot to inform us of a different drop off location that we were supposed to meet Arifat. When we didn't see our SUV or Arifat, I immediately messaged someone from the African Adventure Traveller regarding the situation because I didn't get Arifat's cell number ahead of time. He was two steps ahead and realized we were nowhere to be found! He immediately called someone from the ferry boat and made sure we were safe. We found a way to get back to our SUV and reunited with Arifat. We were relieved to know he was worried about our safety and attempted to look for us! Awesome customer service!

The next day, Arifat drove us back to Kampala and we concluded our safari tour.

I had so many questions before booking the tour, and Sarah was very patient with me. She answered all of my questions and provided awesome custo.mer service. Although it says that they accept PayPal on their website, it actually PesaPal. It is a different company and using PayPal is not an option.

If you are looking to book a safari adventure while in Uganda, check this company out! I recommend them!

Booking a safari can be overwhelming. We were SO pleased with our experience with African Adventure Travelers! Read on for a few specifics:

The trip to Murchison, even for our short three days, packed a punch. All the best rolled into one location....the variety in landscape and natural features as well as an abundance of wildlife.

We did all of our booking and itinerary with Sarah. She was amazing- responsive, accommodating, and flexible. She helped me customize an itinerary to suit our families needs perfectly. And when we needed to make a change just a few days prior she quickly made inquiries to accommodate and had us set up within hours.

We were in such good hands with our guide, George. He was really just the best. Our kids ask a bazillion questions and he was so knowledgeable and excited to share. It was clear he loves the land and the animals, which was so refreshing and inspiring to us as visitors. He listened carefully to what sorts of experiences we most valued and did his best to make it happen.

There were several things I didn't know to look for when booking this safari for my family. First, that the lodge was actually in the nature park. Instead of waking up and having to travel to the park we were already there. With early morning starts this was a huge bonus. Secondly, our vehicle had a pop top. I can't imagine the game drive without this feature. It seemed fairly common but there were definitely some vans out there that only had larger windows. We'll take full views please! Our kids (10, 9, and 8 years old) could remove their shoes, stand on their seats, and see everything. Added bonus with the pop top was that there was more wind and shade to keep us cool.

Our family spent three weeks on the continent (first trip for our kids) and this safari was definitely a highlight.

My friends and I visited this national park last year for 3 days and it was a good experience at Para safari lodge, we had 2 game drives evening and morning the morning one was interesting since it is where were able to see many animals especially the big cats like lions, leopard and hyenas. Evening boat cruise along the river Nile to the bottom of the falls was also refreshing, we were able to see many animals in and along the river bank such as hippos, crocodiles and so many birds then on the way back to Kampala we visited top of the falls where you get close to the falls which was so refreshing, on the boat ride to bottom of the falls you view the falls at a distance due to big rocks that are in the river. All in all you need to visit this park found in Northern part of Uganda East Africa and its about 5 and a half hours drive from Kampala capital city.

I recently went on the 3 day Safari with two friends and we absolutely loved the whole thing. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife including Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalo, Hippos, Crocodiles and much more. The tour is well organised with very little fuss. The Waterfall which is the most powerful in the world is breathtaking and you can get so close to it.

The animals, the waterfall, the boat trip and beauty of the park were incredible but the true highlight was our tour guide, Augustine. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable about the park, the animals and the country of Uganda. He even indulged our football trivia enthusiasm for the whole trip. Now we are back in kampala we plan on seeing him again whilst we are here because he become a genuine friend whilst we were on the trip. Thank you to the guys for making the trip easy and stress and huge thanks to Augustine.

I encourage everybody who is considering the trip to do it. You will not regret it and hope that you get Augustine as your guide.

As 3 friends we did the safari with Augustine. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the park and helped us see some amazing scenery and animals. The food, safari car and lodges were great. Augustine is a truly great guy - funny and so nice. You should definitely go on this safari!

Just got back from the 3 day Murchisson Falls Safari and I would recommend it to everyone.

From our initial contact with Sara it was obvious the trip would be well organised and flexible to meet all our needs. She was patient and detailed in answering all our questions and very helpful in meeting our requests.

Our guide Augustine made the trip, he was brilliant and I have to thank him once again. He is incredibly knowledgable, being full of interesting stories about the animals, the National Park and Uganda as a whole. He is a warm, friendly and humerous man whose company we instantly felt comfortable in. In terms of the Safari itself he went out of his way to ensure we saw as many animals as possible, including an incredibly close encounter with a lion.

Accommodation was very comfortable, Safari vehicle exactly what is required and all food delicious.

Thank you Augustine, Sara and the rest of the team for organising and facilitating a trip of a lifetime that we will never forget.

Fred was punctual and an amazing, knowledgeable and safe driver for our 3 days 2 nights Murchison Falls Safari with Rhinos tour. We were a family group of 3 adults and one 5 year old child. He stopped when we wanted and perfect amount of time for lunches etc. He was always prepared. He knew the weather and made itinerary adjustments accordingly because we did the Rhino tour first and we were lucky enough to witness the birth of baby rhino. We saw many species of African animals. Loved our accommodation at Murchison River Lodge and added bonus of witnessing hippos grazing past our verandah too. Meals at the lodge were excellent. The falls were magnificent. Excellent communication by emails to Sarah who answered promptly and efficiently all our questions prior to the Safari. Highly recommend African Adventure Travellers as extremely professional. 100% go back again. Thanks for a memorable Safari. Sandy On behalf of Paisio and family.

We only had 6 days in Uganda and wanted to see and experience as much as we could. We emailed African Adventure Travellers with lots of questions and Sara very quickly replied with a lot of helpful information and so we, confidently, booked a 3 days Murchison Falls with Rhino tour.
This tour has been one of the most amazing adventures that we have ever done in our many years of travelling the globe.
We don't think that we could have had a better guide than Augustine. He was not just our driver and guide but he quickly became our friend. Augustine is not only a great driver; He is knowledgeable, patient, considerate, has a great sense of humour, and was always willing to go the extra mile (both figuratively and literally!).
We were blown away by how close we managed to get to some of these magestic animals in their natural habitat - an experience that we will never forget.

Thanks especially to Sarah & Augustine. You guys are the best!

We are now planning a return to central Africa with African Adventure Travellers.

This tour is by far the best one we have ever been on. Right from start to finish all communication was great.

When I first emailed them I got a quick answer from Sarah who was very nice and happy to plan the trip for us accordingly to our wishes. She was very calm and heard us out, giving us the different options which would suit us the best. Sarah had so much patience as we weren't sure of how many days or how many people would be joining us, and we did change our minds a few times regarding days and amount of people, but she had no problems with that and was happy to give us the updated prices and itinerary. Upon meeting Sarah in person once we arrived, she took us through the itinerary day by day which was very good. Sarah is such a lovely person and I thank her for creating us the perfect tour.

We want to say a big thank you to our driver Moses who was very professional and knew so much about the National Park and its animals. He was a very funny guy who did everything in order for us to see as many animals as possible during our safari tour. He was very open to adjusting the schedule, accordingly to what we wanted to do which we appreciate very much.

We can not recommend this company enough. They were so organised from start to finish and we had such a blast during the trip. We will be using them for other future tours.

Thanks to the team at the African Adventure Travellers!
