Enjoy the crystal clear waters and ancient ruins of the Kekova Sound in a Sea Kayak. This tour features the exploration of ancient Xera ruins and a swim break in secluded bay of the Kekova Island. Here you will be given information from your guide about flora, fauna and history of the area before the paddle over the ruins of the Sunken City.
After the crossing back to mainland you'll have time to visit the Simena Village where also a delicious lunch is waiting. For the final part the tour continues through a rock - labyrinth for a secret swim stop and back to our base.

What to Expect

The bay of Ucagiz with it's calm waters is a good place to start the Kayak training. 
After an introduction into the equipment and some preparation you'll receive a full safety briefing from your BCU trained guide in english.
On land and in the water you will have training about topics like technique, posture and balance.
There will be plenty of time in the inner bay to train, until everyone gets a feeling for paddling and the kayaks before the tour actually starts.

First the group paddles about 3 km southwards to Tersane Bay on the Kekova Island.
This beautiful bay has very clear water that invites for a swim and the surrounding ruins of the ancient settlement Xera offer opportunity to explore in your free time.
Your guide will give information about history, flora and fauna of the region during several opportunities.
The next part of the trip goes along the cost of the Kekova Island right above the ruins of theSunken City of Dolikhiste. 
Once finished with sightseeing we paddle across to the mainland to Simena Village. This is the midday break for the included lunch, exploration or a swim. 
A delicious lunch will be served normally in a local restaurant at Simena Village. Due to weather conditions this might change to a restaurant in the Ucagız Village. On the menu: Chicken shish kebap, Mediterranean salad with olive oil, Pilaf rice, Delicious homemade fries or/and vegetables fried in tomato sauce. (Shakshouka).  
Lovely streets with flowers and great views invite you to take pictures and to relax.
In one of the cafes one can try the famous ice-cream served only in this village. These are homemade and with unique flavors like Cactus Fruit or Carob.
The village has a Crusader Castle with great views to discover (extra 10 TL entrance fee). 
It is also possible to spend the time here with a swim of the jetty or to take pictures of the Simena Sarcophagus.
After the break the group gets back in the kayaks to paddle to the final secret swim stop.

From here the route continuous through a rock-labyrinth to the remains of the Necropolis of ancient Teimiussa with fine examples of Lycian Sarcophagi and back to the base. 
The group will drive back to Kas after placing of the equipment, the approximate arrival time in Kas is between 16.00 and 17.00.

Total tour timing is approx. 7-8 hrs
The Length of Paddling is about 3 x 45 minutes with a distance of ca. 10 km
The difficulty is not much more then a 3 hours hike just more fresh and above the water.

The sightseeing of the the Simena Castle is optional (30 min) and costs an additional 10 TL.

Kalkan pick-up is at 08.00 by the meis express shuttle.
Peninsula pick-up is at 08.30 by minibus.
At 08.45. the group meets the guide in our office at the main square of Kas.
The drive takes approx. 40 minutes to Ucagiz Village.

great guide

I enjoyed the whole kayking experience we had a wonderful tour guide that explained all about the region and we also had a great lunch and we stopped by beautiful spots for swemning . Tottaly worth it .

Amazing experience!

Awesome tour ! Loved discovering kekova's beautiful surroundings with the kayak, plus we were only a small group which made the experience even more enjoyable. Barbaros is super nice and very knowledgeable, we learned a lot about the Turkish history and had lots of fun!
