About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- hjwilson940 contributionsThorough, fantastic and knowledgable, we would highly recommendWe had an excellent experience with Telly Africa safaris. From the first point of contact, the trip organiser Catherine was extremely helpful, sending over a detailed itinerary so we knew exactly what to expect on the tour. She also provided a helpful checklist of everything we needed to organise on our side in order to be best equipped. We chose the 4 day-3 night luxury safari and as part of this all our travel from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania (and back) was arranged for us which made our life a lot easier. We were on our honeymoon, and Catherine made sure to let the accommodations know this, who gave us some extra surprises during our stays. The accommodations themselves were great, especially the signature Serengeti lodge (where you are immersed in the widlife) and the Oldeani mountain lodge (which is the definition of luxury). And then onto our game driver, Omary. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and funny, making our experience extremely comfortable. He paid attention to all the small details, and even stopped at a road side shop to get my wife some sugar cane as she said it was her favourite snack. With his expertise, we managed to capture 4 of the big 5 within the first 24 hours and all of the big 5 by the end of our trip. He was willing to take the extra risk to get us to the best viewpoints, and helped us to understand a lot more about the animals’ habits and characteristics. We would definitely recommend a trip with him if possible, and we would love to go with Telly Africa safaris again sometime in the futureWritten 6 October 2024
- 996taylorf0 contributionsThrilling, adventurous, and well timed!Aaron was absolutely amazing! He made sure that everyday was well balanced with animals, beautiful scenery, and hotel time. Every accommodation was unique and unreal in their own ways. It’s hard to pinpoint the best part of the trip due to the fact that the entire trip was simply SO awesome. I highly recommend booking if this is something that is on your bucket list!Written 6 October 2024
- bene5550 contributions4 days I will never ForgetFrom the point we where picked up from the Airport until we flew out was a brilliant experience. Omar our guide was extremely knowledgeable and went to great effort to ensure that we saw the big 5. He also continued to ask questions about the other animals and to take our interest into account as we toured the different parks. Even pushing into crowded areas to ensure we could get the perfect picture. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I am glad we choose Telly.Written 24 September 2024
- Ian M0 contributionsBespoke 3 day luxury safariWe booked a bespoke private tour for our honeymoon and can highly recommend. We flew in from Zanzibar into Seronera with the last leg being on a small 15 seater prop plane landing on a strip bang in the middle of the Serengeti … exciting from the off. Our guide, the wonderful Aaron, met us at the strip and we were straight out in safari, amazing nailing the ‘big 5’ in less than 2 hours! Aaron had an amazing ability to get us in the right place at the right time, whether it was a spotting a leopard lounging in a tree, predicting where a lioness would meet with her pride or knowing when we should just chill, have some lunch and wait patiently for a black rhino to reappear, he was on the ball every time. The accommodation, luxury tents at Matawi Serengeti camp (complete with hyena’s calling as we fell asleep) and Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain lodge were amazing and well worth splashing out on. In less than 3 days we saw every animal on our wish list including cheetahs and elephants, most of them incredibly up close. An absolutely magical experience (especially the balloon ride) we would recommend to anyone!Written 20 September 2024
- Alex N0 contributionsHoneymoon SafariWe had a 6 day, trip of a lifetime with Telly Africa, during our honeymoon, visiting the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangerie National Park. Our guide Joseph was absolutely exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and just great to be around for our entire trip. We saw all of the big 5, and Joseph knew a lot of information about literally every animal, bird and landscape. He was also always on time, had a clean car every day, had plenty to keep us hydrated and fed, and was a great photographer! He deserves more than 5 stars. The trip was also very well organised by Mohamed and team. Hotels and lodges were lovely. We did the balloon safari which we highly recommend! Thank you!Written 18 September 2024
- MrTravelAround0 contributionsGreat experience, professional mamagement, very recommendableThe Safari with Telly was really well organized, and a wonderful experience. My girlfriend and I we had a private trip, 5 days safari (serengeti, norongoro, tarangire) and one day seeing Kili. We had a car for ourselves which was great. A lot of people do that. Mohammed managed communication from before the booking throughout the trip and even after the trip exceptionally well. We discussed the different options regarding national parks and accomodations with Mohammed before the booking to come up with the perfect itinerary for us. We even got a briefing before the trip started to run us through the itinerary times, pick up times, locations and answer any open questions. I can only recommend to have active communication via WhatsApp, Mohammed is really responsive. Mali, our guide, did a perfect job through Serengeti, Norongoro, and Tarangire throughout 5 days. We saw all animals we wanted to see, really close, but I also want to remark that you will see what nature offers you to see. We saw that some tourist (in other cars) clearly don’t understand that and are very demand to their guides up to a point where the guide is pressured to behave incorrectly. The accommodations were great throughout the entire trip, though accomodation in northern serengeti is more basic. Also, really important, the car was in good shape and did not break down. We saw a lot of broken down cars along the way, every day, which I think is understandable given the tough roads. All in all, it was wonderful and unique experience we thank Telly a lot for the great guidance and support through the trip.Written 11 September 2024

- J3262WBestefaniag0 contributions100% recommendedWe hired the safari from Spain and we didn’t have any problems with them. The were very accessible, attentive to our arrival in Zanzibar and punctual on schedules. The guide tried to show us as many animals as possible and teach us curiosities about each species. A good option for a first safari in Tanzania.Written 18 August 2024

- Climber193154762870 contributionsFantastic SafariWe had a fantastic experience going on a 1-day safari with Telly Safari. Communication throughout was excellent, as was the transfer from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania and back. We had a knowledgeable and fun driver who showed us as many animals as possible. We were lucky and spotted lions, giraffes, lots of baboons and impalas as well as hippos and crocodiles. Our kids (8, 4) loved it! We felt well taken care of (good lunch and water from start to finish), we felt safe and it's an experience we will remember and cherish forever. Thank you, "Arusha Mohammed" + "Zanzibar Mohammed" and Antony! I can wholeheartedly recommend Telly Safaris.Written 2 August 2024
- alirL1990GD0 contributionsKnowledgable and Fun5 stars all around! Our gyide Emmanuel was very educated and experienced. You 100% can tell he loves what he does. We travled with our 2 teens. He was so engaing and helped push them through the last couple miles. The kids' favorite was the monkeys! The lunch was very well done as well. Our driver was so entertaining and spoke 5 languages! In short I don't believe you could find better.Written 27 July 2024
- NCsoprano0 contributionsKilimanjaro Kings! So glad we went. Our guides were considerate and paved themselves to the limitations of our group ( some bad knees) and extremely knowledgeable. They carried our food and water and even carried one gal’s day pack. This is not an easy stroll and they made sure we were comfortable and safe. Highly recommend this tour group. A huge shout out to Kareem, our driver. The trip back to Arusha was challenging because of market day traffic and he did a stellar job.Written 4 July 2024
- B3704KIdanielh0 contributionsThe best 6 days of our livesThere’s no word of exaggeration when I say that Telly Safaris provided us with one of the best 6 days of our lives. We had a rough start with losing our luggage on the way and the team constantly tried to help us get it back and organise a way to get it out to us on our safari. We were also delayed quite heavily with our transfer from Zanzibar to the Serengeti but they still gave us a 4 hour safari on the day we arrived and we literally saw EVERYTHING on the first day all up close and personal. The rest of the safari itself was nothing short of spectacular, our driver Godson was unbelievable and had such incredible knowledge of the parks and went above and beyond to see the animals from all angles and sometimes raced through the parks to make sure we saw animals when knowledge came through on the intercom he used. He drove for hours and kept an incredibly keen eye for animals at the same time which made it so key in seeing literally all the animals you possible could in Africa. We saw full pods of hippos, lions catching and eating prey, baby lions with their mother and cheetahs hunting. Check out our Instagram highlights @dannyjhirst @kateehopkinson Aside from the safari we stayed in 4 hotels on our way round Tanzania and they were all incredible, genuine 4/5 star calibre with beautiful food, settings and staff who constantly made you feel welcome. You were provided with brilliant lunches on the tour and kept you going the full day. One piece of advice is to take a few jumpers, the mornings and nights can be bitterly cold till the sun comes out. I honestly don’t think we could have got better product for our money with any other company in the world, we will be forever thankful for the experience they gave us.Written 30 June 2024
- jacque20200 contributionsBest day hike at Kilimanjaro! This is the perfect day trip for anyone interested in Kilimanjaro. Emmanuel was our tour guide with Telly African safaris and he picked us up from our hotel promptly at 6:00. We drove through Moshi and to the National park gate where we began our climb. We were a little nervous about hiking in the high elevation, but Emmanuel insisted we climb slowly, “pole, pole” and take sips of water, we quickly became accustomed to the altitude. This is a moderate hike with well- groomed trails. There’s nice toilet facilities with running water, soap and toilet paper stationed about every 1.5 hours!!! We hiked up to the crater, down and out, and then descended. It was a clear day and you could see Kenya and the top of Kilo from our vantage point. This is a beautiful hike with running glacier streams and waterfalls along the way. Almost all of the hike is shaded and you walk under the beautiful rain forest canopy. Spotting monkeys along the way was fun. This entire hike up and back was about 9 hours with lunch. And, I must mention, Emanuel carried our backpack the entire way and brought the must yummy lunch for us to eat on picnic tables at Mandela Hut. Can’t say enough about this wonderful day hike!!Written 27 June 2024
- Robertos333ost0 contributionsUnforgettable Family Safari Adventure with Telly SafarisOur family's safari adventure in Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater with Telly Safari was a journey we will treasure forever. From witnessing all the majestic animals, including the Big 5, in their natural habitat to experiencing the raw beauty of the vast herds of wildebeest traversing the landscape, every moment was a testament to the wild heart of Serengeti. The emotional intensity of watching lions hunt and killing a Zebra, the dramatic attempt of a cheetah trying to capture a young gnu, and dining just meters away from resting lions were experiences that brought the circle of life up close and personal. Our guide, Assad, transformed our safari into an educational journey brimming with excitement and wonder. His deep knowledge of wildlife and skilled tracking abilities ensured we didn't miss out on any wish-list sightings. Watching baboons saunter by our tent at sunset and feeling the vibrant energy of the Ngorongoro Crater, feeling as "the lost world," were highlights that illustrated the serene yet wild essence of Africa. Assad's insights into animal behaviors enriched our understanding and connection to the natural world, turning each encounter into a vivid story. His dedication to making our adventure memorable and comfortable made him feel more like a family member than a guide. Our daughter fondly recalls her "close friend," and we share that sentiment deeply. Special thanks also go to Mohamed, who was instrumental in tailoring our trip. His patience and detailed responses to our numerous inquiries ensured our journey was perfectly aligned with our expectations. I can't recommend Telly Safari enough for families looking for a safari experience that combines adventure, education, and personal touches that go beyond the ordinary. This trip wasn’t just a holiday; it was a profound journey into the heart of nature, facilitated by a team who truly cares about delivering a unique and unforgettable experience.Written 28 March 2024
