Kandy .. A must too destination
I am sure it is amazing however having already done Siem Reap etc etc Just about templed out.. The roof however when it shone across the lake was stunning but was shadowed in our opinion by the turtles, Huge Bats, Monitors, Cranes, Egrets Monkeys and Kingfishers in the most amazing TREES surrounding the lake which you can walk around for free... just saying that's all... definitely go here if you can :)

          Nice ride through the countryside!
Train ride through the beautiful Sri Lankan country side. Only downside is the cost of tickets and we found them difficult to get. There were 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids), our seat numbers were not together, but as the train was not busy we swapped seats, so it worked out.

          Wild Elephants :)
Our guide was fantastic, very observant and we were lucky to see crocodiles, elephants :) and lots of birds. On arrival it was very busy and lots of 4x4s crowded together, mostly empty which was sad as we could have shared vehicles and reduced the traffic. However, once we got properly into the park it was much quieter and barely saw anyone else. Lovely picnic spot by the river and the baby elephant made me happy

          Amazing Views
The train is beautiful, clean and has different classes. If you go jn a not hot time, I recommend you book 2nd Class reserved seats instead of 1st Class. This is because, in 2nd Class, you can open the windows and peep outside the train. Also important is that all doors are open in 2nd class and you can hag outside while train is moving(fun). In 1st Class only two doors are open and windows do not open because of the aircon.

Temple of the tooth relic Kandy
This is a very holy place for Buddhists hence it is a must visit for religious reasons, however as a tourist you may not find it worth the money as the temple and important items in the temple are closed and open only for certain intervals of time. When we went around noon everything was closed and we saw scores of pilgrims waiting for the temple to open . As a keen tourist I had nothing much to see except for the external temple building. Additionally the walk from the ticket counter is a short walk however in the scorching sun you may burn your foot as you have to remove your foot wear before entering the temple premises. If you don’t know the correct time when the temple is open then you may want to rethink before going in.

          See Elephants Don’t Ride Them
Got lucky and had the jeep to ourselves, but sharing wouldn’t have been a problem. Driver had eyes like a hawk and stopped to show us so much. Memorable and peaceful moments alone with wild elephants - best way to see Udawalawe without disturbing the wildlife. Transit Home before or after your visit is a must. £100 per person all in (return taxi from Mirissa included) sounds a lot, but it’s the going rate and good value.

          SRI Lanka tour
If you like trains, like we do, you should do this train ride, take in all the beautiful sights on the way. You can get snacks and drinks on the train, it does get busy though.

          Another tourist scam
I went today on this safari and it turned out to be a complete scam. The driver did not speak at all english, he knew nothing about the animals, he just stopped where he saw ohter cars. He didn't buy us the bottle of water that is included in the price & said that he cannot stop for us to buy lunch. We ended up not eating 10 hours and seeing mostly birds & 4 elephants. It's not a safari tour, rather some beachboys looking to make easy money. Do not recommend

          Great way to explore Colombo
We could arrange the Tuk-Tuk safari at very short notice. It was worth every minute. Our driver and guide, Mr Malli, was excellent: he explained well, drive safely and is very very kind. During the tour, which actually lasted longer than scheduled, he took us around many places in Colombo. The tour ended with a tasty Sri Lankan dinner. Many thanks for the great experience.

          Amazing! Well done Navee!
Wow! Just wow! We saw lots of amazing sights, and Navee was absolutely wonderful. 10/10 experience and guide! I have no clue how Navee managed to spot some of the lizards and geckos, but honestly hands down it was amazing. 🥰

          Great Safari with Daruu
We had a wonderful afternoon safari. Our driver Daruu was so kind and is a very experienced guide who shared his extensive knowledge about the animals with us. Fully recommend him! We were lucky to even see a cute baby elephant :)

More like a jeep rally than a game drive.
One of the worst wildlife experiences of my life and I’m well travelled. The jeep and our guide were faultless, but the park itself is a traffic jam of diesel spewing jeeps. Queued to get in and out of the main gate. When we saw an elephant we enjoyed it in the company of the 20 other jeeps. It’s madness. You’d be better off going to Windsor Safari Park. There are so many better ways to spend a half day in nature in Sri Lanka.

          Don’t bother
All we saw there was elephants and a peacock. About 30 trucks all following one path. When we saw the elephants there were loads of jeeps surrounding them. We saw elephants roaming around outside the park. Save your time and money don’t bother.
